If you're interested in learning more about painting and brushes in general, I've made a playlist that features all of my tutorials on the topic! ruclips.net/p/PLHa4G0mT9LH1h3ojYR_JbwlVA8TR-Hqxa
Bro this video is a hidden gem, im in the process of making my first professional portfolio and you have no idea how much this analysis cleared things up for me
this is such a great new concept to add to my art skill set! you've explained it really well and it's a rlly new and simple way of understanding how these pro artists get such great texture while also maintaining clear forms in their work - can't wait to put this into practice later :) just subscribed!
In a way I can understand CSP, If you want development you would want a subscription type service. Programmers need to be paid to do stuff. The same is with Krita.... Krita isn't free...it's Free to use, but there is a core of dedicated supporters that are paying what amounts to a subscription fee so that Krita is being further developed.
Thank you for this video! I'm looking around for tutorials on how to understand brushes and this is right in the range of what I want. Something more informational than "try out the effects for yourself!" but more about understanding extant brushes than "nitty gritty explanation of how to create a brand new brush".
lovely video! I'd love to see you cover certain textured brushes and showcase what those would be useful for (in particular I was thinking about wojtry brushpack)
Would love to try out some of your brush collection, regardless of whether you created them all or not, if you have found them useful. Love your video man, new subscriber here!
Hi. I'm very impressed of your talent to draw and talent to describe how to draw. I appreciate your work and your enthusiasm to share the knowledge with the others. Keep the excellent work! Wish you best! You excels! Cheers!
I always paint everything with one or 2 brushes and do my details by hand I don’t like how some people use the shape brushes too much it makes the painting less genuine to me
Yea I can see where you're coming from, use too many shape brushes and it will definitely feel more 'digital' looking and some prefer the traditional look of everything having a hand-painted feel.
yes, it's a pretty common trap to fall into. Novices see the textures and want to emulate it in their own work without knowing values and colors are the ones that makes or breaks a painting, not texture.
Ahhh most of them are just slightly altered brushes from other packs as well as the default packs! I do recommend checking out these places to get other brushes :) krita-artists.org/c/resources/brushes-and-bundles/32 docs.krita.org/en/resources_page.html
The artist is John Park. But maybe look up other artists instead like Lixin Yin or Craig Mullins. I've found out after making this video that John Park has a bunch of controversies regarding manipulating and dating students while teaching at Brainstorm School.

Just FYI his name is John Park and afaik yes he does have an Instagram account. Though I'd recommend other people instead as I've learned John Park has a history of dating students in Brainstorm School where he teaches, he also has lots of strong ties with NFT's. Go follow Lixin Yin or Craig Mullins instead :)

Erasing with textures brushes is such a great method. I never thought of that.

youre welcome!
GOOOOOD DAAAHM i just subbed because you explained your perspective really well and made the illustration easy to read especially with that "pop quiz"
Hey thanks 😊I actually wondered if the pop quiz section helped at all but I'm glad to hear it did!
@@RexelBartolome Definitely do it more often! i never saw it before and i know a lot of artists on youtube
@@markmaher1225 Great! Thanks for the feedback 😄
Out of millions of tutorials this one is my top! Really sets the foundation of digital painting! Please continue!
One thing I also see artists do a lot is work with the lasso to quickly create shapes, then paint inside them with textured brushes.

thanks for the kind words !
I never thought to use textured brushes as an eraser, great tips!
Time to share this with everyone considering Clip Studio Paint or running from it given their recent bs.
😆😆 well this could be applied to any software not just Krita, but I am happy that Krita is getting a lot of recognition from CSP's recent announcement

Very eye-opening, thank you.

Great breakdown
This kind of fundamental that i need 👍
lovely video!
I'd love to see you cover certain textured brushes and showcase what those would be useful for
(in particular I was thinking about wojtry brushpack)
wojtry's brushpack is wonderful! I use it all the time. Though I just don't have enough time to record, edit, and publish videos at the moment 😭
i'm a super noob to Krita and this IS GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for this great video! Very helpful information!
Glad I could help :D

nice work bro
thanks 😊
at 0:20 when the painting is introduced in full I thought for a second that was a photo
Very informative
people are too attached to brushes but the real secret here is the color picking. It really doesn't matter the brush you use.

Great video just subbed 💯✌🏼❤️ best wishes to you
awesome vid man :D
Thanks! glad you like it 😊
Krita user here! 🙋🏽♀️
This video was very helpful!
Can you share where are those brushes of yours, they look amazing
Ahhh most of them are just slightly altered brushes from other packs as well as the default packs! I do recommend checking out these places to get other brushes :) krita-artists.org/c/resources/brushes-and-bundles/32 docs.krita.org/en/resources_page.html
This is a rlly good video, thanks! Also on the random note, we literally have the same last name lol XD
Are these brushes included in Krita? Very good information
Some of the examples I used are default brushes, some are not. Either way, the concept can be applied whether or not they're included in Krita
Who’s painting you used as an example? I didn’t catch the name.
The artist is John Park. But maybe look up other artists instead like Lixin Yin or Craig Mullins. I've found out after making this video that John Park has a bunch of controversies regarding manipulating and dating students while teaching at Brainstorm School.
Thanks for this , very much , like very much good , very nice boy , nicely boy done , good nice xd
Whose piece of art is it in the video? I know you say the name but I don't know how to spell it.

@@RexelBartolome Thanks for the heads up and other recommendations
I can’t even find the brush presets panel..so frustrating
Sorry to hear that, I discussed showing the brush presets docker in another video ruclips.net/video/oI7_4FFkBaQ/видео.html
Has the author of these paintings Instagram?

@@RexelBartolome thank you very much 💫
Really well explained! I share it with my student so they feel more confident working with krita 🤍
thanks, thats heartwarming to hear 😊
