Some of them I contacted but for various reasons didn't happen , many others I might not knew at the time.. Lots of great ispirational stuff out there.. This was simply my personal selection. :)
While cool, most of these shots are HEAVILY photoshopped. I get it, Doing this kind of work really has to involve some kind of editing. There is a limit when you stop relying on pushing the craft forward and just relying on software to get your goal. Not that digital art isn't art. I just feel we as a community should push the boundaries of what we can do "in camera" and not "in computer"
+Justine Fecik Believe it or not most of these are NOT photoshopped.. It might be that some have been using some adjustments in contrast, exposure etc, but other than one photo from Chris Thompson that has a mirror image in photoshop ( and I apologise of including this in here) the rest are no photoshopped included. If you are familiar with light painting you would understand that no photoshop is part of the whole idea. Hard to believe when you see the results but trust me on this...
+LightPaintingPhotography Layering one image, rotating it, layering it again, and rotating it like image at 1:59 is heavily PSing an image. I bump contrast and saturation but i don't move lights or add things for a better image. Again at 1:44, i dare you to explain how the books and hippo were shot in camera. I'm not trying to say my work is better or more pure but here is shot I did in one exposure only using LightRoom to bump contrast and whatnot. imgur.com/XU3P45I Relying on PS to manipulate the image instead of getting it in camera is more graphic design than photography.
+Justine Fecik 1:50 is rotation with CRT tool ..straight out of camera.. on 1:44 its a simple stencil technique .. ;) Trust me on this buddy.. Except the one i told you about which has a mirror with PS the rest ARE straight out of camera.. This is part of why i like LightPainting.. So many different techniques out there.. Might seem very photoshopped to people who start or don't know about it but its not.. and those brain busters are part of the whole fun.. :)
+Justine Fecik rotation, swapping focal length and aperture, lens capping during shots and using more than one tripod are common place in a lot of light painting being done right now ... believe :)
