Oh wow, this is brilliant, thank you so much for sharing this. I already loved my streamdeck but now I love it even more...in fact, I think I may end up buying the larger version because there's so many great workflow boosting shortcuts and macros you can use it for. 😃

@@DoryVideo Me too, I would even consider it my best buy ever in terms of equipment that improved my workflow. I even set mine up with macros (multi actions), which is great since Logic Pro sadly does not support macros natively, only single comman short cuts. But with the streamdeck I can "hack" my way around that.

If you're using the Stream Deck to control something with MIDI that's not an instrument, you NEED to set Velocity >= 64. Most On/Off controls will see Velocity of 0-63 as OFF, and 64-127 as ON.

Hi Dory, as someone else has already commented the 'Midi Button' app is no longer available from Elgato. Any chance you could do another video using the currently available 'Midi' app ? There seems to be some pre-setup needed with this app that I don't understand at all being a novice with midi stuff. If a new video is not possible is there any way to get hold of the 'Midi Button' app used in your video ?

When you say nothing shows up, do you mean in Cubase as a MIDI input, or elsewhere? I have found, that after booting the system, you need to press one of the MIDI buttons on your stream deck in order for the virtual MIDI port to be activated

    • @hartmanpeter
      @hartmanpeter 3 года назад +2

I had an issue where the Virtual Port Name was "undefined". Finally, I just typed in "Stream Deck" and then the deck appeared as a Midi device in my other application. Not sure if that's what you're talking about, but figured I'd leave this here for anyone else who might find it useful.

Using Cubase 11 on a PC I have a large library including practically all Spitfire and VSL. I found that the midi app you refer to is no longer listed, and the one available is somewhat different. Yes of course you can. If there is a keyboard, or midi shortcut for the command, this will do it. Bear in mind that some virtual instruments do not support the patch up or patch down commands but all of the Steinburg instruments within Cubase have this function.

I tried the replacement plugin every possible way. I simply cannot get it to talk to Pro Tools. It does talk to the WaveSynth in Windows. I can’t seem to be able to add it as a midi device in PT either. The author’s page suggests a site to get midi loop, but that page gets blocked on our systems as a malicious site. It looks like the Midi Button plugin has some issues and Stream Deck pulled it. Unsure.

Hi James and thank you for your help. I use Digital Performer as a DAW but any DAW is ok. Let's say I use 2 Midi CC1. One is 60 and the second one is 100. I am lost and don't know how to do. So I use a midi CC inside of the Streamdeck called Midi CC1-60. Channel 1. Mod Wheel. Single Value and main CC Value is 60. Then the setup .... I don't know at that time. Do I use the virtual port named stream Deck ? Digital Performer recognize SD. But when I push the button, nothing happens since many hours. Could you help me ? Thanks. François

Yes the midi monitor didn't show Stream Deck. So, I went to Audio/Midi Configuration and add a device called Stream Deck. Now, yes, I can see it in the midi monitor. In the profile/preference, I must add Digital Performer, correct ?

So now, what I am able to do is : I set up 10 dynamics on SD from pppp to ffff with a value for each. In DP, I have a Kontakt Instance and when I press one of the ten dynamics, the modulation in Kontakt follows the "push" of the SD button. Good ! My last question is : what must I do so that the different dynamics are recorded in my track ? And until now THANK YOU JAMES ! I have spent 1 full day to try to make it work before I discover your video.

Hi! Is it possible to have different input ports at the same time? In my case I want to send CC to 3 different units thru a MIDI interface. For example, one button sends messages to device 1 and another button sends messages to device 2. All ports and devices show up in the input port menu. But when I change input port for one button, it changes globally in the stream deck. I want to assign different input ports to different button.

    • @DoryVideo

Hi, no one port for the whole app it’s not that clever. You COULD use something like BOME midi translator software to do this though by re-mapping individual midi controls/notes etc from one input (stream deck) to multiple outputs.... but it would be complicated to set up..

No, as I said it’s one output (virtual
Midi device) for all buttons, please read my previous comment. You could then use another software programme to re-route specific midi commands generated by the stream deck to be sent to other midi devices, I use Bome for this on my Mac for multiple midi devices.

Hi, with things like volume control, do you have to specify a starting value, or can you tell it to use whatever the current (previous) value is?
And if you can, can you get it to swell to a relative value, such as +25 (so if it is currently 30, it will rise to 55, but of it is currently 95, it will rise to 120)?
And what happens if you set the increase to occur over 3 seconds, but you let go after 1 second? Will the volume continue to increase for another 2 seconds?
