Allot of it went on Hayden because he was playing a whiney teen (which is what he was supposed to be) in the second movie and the off dialog in the third one turned allot of people off(even though it's extremely quotable now). People were being whiney bitches back then and it turned Hayden off to acting so badly, he quit acting and went to farming. This was his first appearance in something related to Star Wars since then.

Ahmed Best's story is quite sad. Those were probably some very difficult years after Episode 1. Tbh you hear about a lot of big name directors and actors getting the opportunity to participate in a Star Wars project and turning it down. How could they turn it down, I used to wonder. Then you hear about what happens to these people's careers when these crazy fans don't like you. I'm glad guys like Hayden get appreciation now but I bet he doesn't forget how shitty the fans were at the time. Can't blame him at all for getting out of acting.
An interviewer had asked him for advice to Kelly Marie Tran about the hate she got for Rose and he said that the haters are actually a loud minority and that most fans don't feel this way. And it's actually true, imagine all the people that don't use social media, these people don't have problems with actors doing their jobs and don't sob all day on the internet

@@karla5191 I never understood they thought that either but I do think it’s because the movies didn’t show a lot of things that they should’ve.
They should’ve showed how the other Jedi kids treated him when he got there after being taken in. They didn’t want to become friends with him because of their jealousy of him being the chosen one(being way more powerful) and they would even make fun of him being a slave before. He didn’t really have any friends and he couldnt really reach out because none of them could really understand what he’s going through. He wanted to work really hard to become that powerful Jedi and free his mother yet he was held back despite exceeding in everything when he could’ve went through everything quicker if they allowed him to but they didn’t. The Jedi didn’t try freeing his mother either before her death because they think his attachment to her was a weakness when all he wanted was to free her mother from being a slave.
Another thing is the romance between him and padme. It’s awkward but in context, it made sense too. Again, Anakin didn’t really have a lot of friends and all Padme deals with most of the time were politicians. Then with how their romance is meant to be kept secret and can’t really go for anybody about what a non awkward relationship should be like. Of course, they are going to be awkward. The only one criticism I have that they shouldn’t have done was having that scene where padme was uncomfortable by the way anakin looked at her which made Anakin creepy.

I hated the prequels but never hated Hayden or the little boy that played Anaken. It wasn't there fault the dialog was so bad. I will never watch 4 again because of jarjar. I hated that thing. Also to me Lucas focused too much on CI instead of story..
Most people who hate the prequels have nothing against the actors themselves. Any more than people who hate the Disney films have any personal hatred for John Boyega or Daisy Ridley.

The Prequels at first were not appreciated very well. Now that there is something far worse than the Prequels (the Disney Trilogy) I think that is why they are beginning to think that there were some good moments in the Prequels. (I personally loved the Prequels from the start)
Well I just watched the prequels with my daughter one day back, I could still feel the irritation towards Hayden’s Anakin’s expressions and voice. It felt so out of line and not tuned to the atmosphere, but hey I am just an amateur. I did become bit annoyed at Hayden’s voice.
Yet; the prequels are ten times better than what Disney produced. The story fits so much easier in my mind than what Disney wanted to show via Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy and her agenda.

Hayden looked so nervous when he walked into the stage, probably not knowing what to expect after years of being bullied by assholes but then at 1:23 when he acknowledged that girl screaming "I love you Hayden!" with a little nod (and what it seems to be a whispered "thank you") it warms my heart so much everytime I see it. He didn't deserve all the hate he got for George's monotonous directing style, he definitely earned all the love he's getting now. Can't wait to see him in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

@Abram Sullivan David Prowse and James Earle Jones are rather specific to costumed Vader. Kind of hard to see either of them as pre-Vader Anakin. Matt Lanter OTOH did a great job in The Clone Wars series. But Hayden is most recognizable as Anakin IMO (though James Earle Jones is most recognizable as Vader).

Honestly, they did. As a child, I watched the prequels and I didn’t hate them, but I wasn’t a fan of them. Episode 1 was boring up until Duel of the Fates and Episode 2 was completely uninteresting. I always loved Episode 3 because we finally saw the transformation of Anakin into Darth Vader. And after seeing the new trilogy, I appreciate the prequels and the acting of Hayden a lot more than I used to before.

Never thought it would happen and that always made me sad bcus Anakin is a HUGE part of my childhood and my brothers. We LOVED Star Wars Prequels! We never once thought bad of them. From when they first came out to now we still watch them and can talk about the movies with eachother like it’s our first time watching them. I was shocked to learn so many people were hating on them. I can understand if you may have a respectable different opinion about them, but seeing so many bullies talk so hateful was just NOT nesassary and speaks volumes about how they are as a person. I bet there was some of those bullies here at the reunion and cheered him anyways. So fake. Internet thugs.

Everyone says he's a terrible actor and I don't get why. He had so many fantastic moments where he really showed just the raw emotion and pain that Anakin had in his life. Sure, there were definitely some poor spots, but no actor is perfect, and the script was a tad painful at times.

You know what I love... is that for years people bashed on Hayden and said he was terrible and he ruined the prequel's whatever yet the second that concept art of him from force awakens came out he went back to being a rockstar and everybody loves him and wants him back they say he was terrible yet they cheer for him every time they see him and then when asked about it they say we never hated Him.... also I think he'll be in the last Jedi or at least episode nine because he had nothing to do with Star Wars since revenge of the Sith yet all of a sudden he's at this years celebration saying how much he missed it
GinoMarks I think a lot of fans just grew up in a lot of ways and came to see the faults of the prequels couldn't be entirely placed on the shoulders of one actor or several. I still find TPM and AtoC to be bad, but RotS has grown on me over the years in large part because Hayden is a strong actor, especially when acting just through facial dialogue. You just have to look past the meme scenes.

Basketball Man tfa had better written dialogue but the prequels were better scripts as far as being original and not having the many inconsistencies that tfa had to the plot and characters. Therefore I feel the prequels were better movies than tfa. I do have some hope for last Jedi though because JJ is gone, we shall see.

When I was a little kid, I was terrified of the scene in Episode III when Anakin burned and almost died by his injuries. Not because I thought it was bad acting, it was the burning scene in general. I couldn't see anyone burning, even if it was CGI-Fire, but I was young and believed scenes like that.
Now, about 15 years later, I still don't think that Hayden is a bad actor or his performance is/was awful. I never thought he was a bad actor, even though I couldn't watch the ending of Episode III without being scared of it.
I think he portrayed Anakin perfectly, because he understood the conflict Anakin has. He understood Anakins actions and how he wanted to deal with it.
Hayden *IS* Anakin, believe it or not. I love his performance and Anakin is definitely my favorite character of Star Wars. The main reason why he's my favorite character is that Hayden portrayed Anakin perfectly.
I can't describe how badass his performance was!
It's my opinion, so please accept it. And Hayden knows how to act, so do it better if you hate his acting.

Anakin is the main character in the saga, he is the hero and the villain. Anakin can exist without Star Wars but Star WArs cannot exist without Anakin. Anyways, Hayden is amazing and he did a great job as Anakin, he deserves so much love!!!! I hope to see him soon in the upcoming SW series.
