Allot of it went on Hayden because he was playing a whiney teen (which is what he was supposed to be) in the second movie and the off dialog in the third one turned allot of people off(even though it's extremely quotable now). People were being whiney bitches back then and it turned Hayden off to acting so badly, he quit acting and went to farming. This was his first appearance in something related to Star Wars since then.

An interviewer had asked him for advice to Kelly Marie Tran about the hate she got for Rose and he said that the haters are actually a loud minority and that most fans don't feel this way. The Prequels at first were not appreciated very well. Now that there is something far worse than the Prequels (the Disney Trilogy) I think that is why they are beginning to think that there were some good moments in the Prequels. (I personally loved the Prequels from the start)
Well I just watched the prequels with my daughter one day back, I could still feel the irritation towards Hayden’s Anakin’s expressions and voice. It felt so out of line and not tuned to the atmosphere, but hey I am just an amateur. I did become bit annoyed at Hayden’s voice. Yet; the prequels are ten times better than what Disney produced. The story fits so much easier in my mind than what Disney wanted to show via Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy and her agenda.
@Abram Sullivan David Prowse and James Earle Jones are rather specific to costumed Vader. Kind of hard to see either of them as pre-Vader Anakin. Matt Lanter OTOH did a great job in The Clone Wars series. But Hayden is most recognizable as Anakin IMO (though James Earle Jones is most recognizable as Vader).

Most people who hate the prequels have nothing against the actors themselves. Any more than people who hate the Disney films have any personal hatred for John Boyega or Daisy Ridley.

Also Disney Era haters pushed Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran out of their social media and celebrated when it happened. @@karla5191 I never understood they thought that either but I do think it’s because the movies didn’t show a lot of things that they should’ve. They should’ve showed how the other Jedi kids treated him when he got there after being taken in. They didn’t want to become friends with him because of their jealousy of him being the chosen one(being way more powerful) and they would even make fun of him being a slave before. He didn’t really have any friends and he couldnt really reach out because none of them could really understand what he’s going through. He wanted to work really hard to become that powerful Jedi and free his mother yet he was held back despite exceeding in everything when he could’ve went through everything quicker if they allowed him to but they didn’t. The Jedi didn’t try freeing his mother either before her death because they think his attachment to her was a weakness when all he wanted was to free her mother from being a slave. Another thing is the romance between him and padme. It’s awkward but in context, it made sense too. Again, Anakin didn’t really have a lot of friends and all Padme deals with most of the time were politicians. Then with how their romance is meant to be kept secret and can’t really go for anybody about what a non awkward relationship should be like. Of course, they are going to be awkward. The only one criticism I have that they shouldn’t have done was having that scene where padme was uncomfortable by the way anakin looked at her which made Anakin creepy.
Ian McDiarmid was a dark lord of the senate, so powerful and so nice, he could use the force to manipulate the fans opinions on him. He could even convince them that he's the best thing, in the prequels, back when they were still hated.
I'm so happy to see the fans loving this guy now. He got so much hate, literally made the guy avoid Star Wars forever. And probably contributed to him stopping acting altogether.

Hayden looked so nervous when he walked into the stage, probably not knowing what to expect after years of being bullied by assholes but then at 1:23 when he acknowledged that girl screaming "I love you Hayden!" with a little nod (and what it seems to be a whispered "thank you") it warms my heart so much everytime I see it. He didn't deserve all the hate he got for George's monotonous directing style, he definitely earned all the love he's getting now. Can't wait to see him in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

People grow up and realize most of the vitriol they had means nothing. I still don't like the prequels except for the third one, but if anything the actors are not really to blame. Alec Guinness was the original Obi Wan and hugely influenced how Ewan played the part. I think Ewan would agree that Sir Alec was the best Obi Wan, as he was a star wars fan from that era.

Everyone says he's a terrible actor and I don't get why. He had so many fantastic moments where he really showed just the raw emotion and pain that Anakin had in his life. Sure, there were definitely some poor spots, but no actor is perfect, and the script was a tad painful at times.
Never thought it would happen and that always made me sad bcus Anakin is a HUGE part of my childhood and my brothers. We LOVED Star Wars Prequels! We never once thought bad of them. From when they first came out to now we still watch them and can talk about the movies with eachother like it’s our first time watching them. I can understand if you may have a respectable different opinion about them, but seeing so many bullies talk so hateful was just NOT nesassary and speaks volumes about how they are as a person. Look at Hayden sitting there quietly, straight back, humble looking sitting and talking next to those idols, in front of the crowd with the fangirls. Showing no trace of resentfulness or cynicism for the hate back then. Just looking like he's honored to be invited there. They don't make young folks like that anymore. He continues to be my role model, just like to kid me back in the prequel days.

Honestly, they did. As a child, I watched the prequels and I didn’t hate them, but I wasn’t a fan of them. Episode 1 was boring up until Duel of the Fates and Episode 2 was completely uninteresting. I always loved Episode 3 because we finally saw the transformation of Anakin into Darth Vader. And after seeing the new trilogy, I appreciate the prequels and the acting of Hayden a lot more than I used to before.
Ian McDiarmid really does come across as a nice guy, for a lot of his answers he takes advantage of the moment to throw some sort of compliment Hayden Christensen's way.

GinoMarks I think a lot of fans just grew up in a lot of ways and came to see the faults of the prequels couldn't be entirely placed on the shoulders of one actor or several. I still find TPM and AtoC to be bad, but RotS has grown on me over the years in large part because Hayden is a strong actor, especially when acting just through facial dialogue. You just have to look past the meme scenes.
Basketball Man tfa had better written dialogue but the prequels were better scripts as far as being original and not having the many inconsistencies that tfa had to the plot and characters. Therefore I feel the prequels were better movies than tfa. I do have some hope for last Jedi though because JJ is gone, we shall see.

Biggest mistake. Voice wasn't enough. A movie called Rise of Skywalker without Anakin Skywalker meant to wrap up the Skywalker saga is a travesty. Force ghost Anakin should've talked to Ben after the water fight, not memory Han.

I just love that those of us who grew with the prequels but also loving the originals now has become adults and get a voice and get to show Hayden some love. I grew up wacthing the original triolog on my dads old vhs tapes, and loved them but the special effects was so old at that point. So getting to grow up seeing the prequels at the movie theater was so magical and I have always absolutely loved them.

Told him he should not feel feelings. His wife was gonna die and he had to choose between saving the man that could save his wife or save someone that was a dick to him his whole life. Which would you choose since he is so dumb? He knew the Jedi weren’t that great when both mace windu and and the Darth Sidious said “ he’s too dangerous to be left alive” about killing an unarmed man. When I first heard Matt Lanter’s Anakin, I thought he sounded nothing like Hayden. Then I heard Hayden’s natural voice in this interview, and I realized that Matt was doing Hayden’s natural voice rather than his Star Wars voice.

The Prequels at first were not appreciated very well. Now that there is something far worse than the Prequels (the Disney Trilogy) I think that is why they are beginning to think that there were some good moments in the Prequels. (I personally loved the Prequels from the start)
Well I just watched the prequels with my daughter one day back, I could still feel the irritation towards Hayden’s Anakin’s expressions and voice. It felt so out of line and not tuned to the atmosphere, but hey I am just an amateur. I did become bit annoyed at Hayden’s voice.
Yet; the prequels are ten times better than what Disney produced. The story fits so much easier in my mind than what Disney wanted to show via Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy and her agenda.

@Abram Sullivan David Prowse and James Earle Jones are rather specific to costumed Vader. Kind of hard to see either of them as pre-Vader Anakin. Matt Lanter OTOH did a great job in The Clone Wars series. But Hayden is most recognizable as Anakin IMO (though James Earle Jones is most recognizable as Vader).

They should’ve showed how the other Jedi kids treated him when he got there after being taken in. They didn’t want to become friends with him because of their jealousy of him being the chosen one(being way more powerful) and they would even make fun of him being a slave before. He didn’t really have any friends and he couldnt really reach out because none of them could really understand what he’s going through. He wanted to work really hard to become that powerful Jedi and free his mother yet he was held back despite exceeding in everything when he could’ve went through everything quicker if they allowed him to but they didn’t. The Jedi didn’t try freeing his mother either before her death because they think his attachment to her was a weakness when all he wanted was to free her mother from being a slave.
Another thing is the romance between him and padme. It’s awkward but in context, it made sense too. Again, Anakin didn’t really have a lot of friends and all Padme deals with most of the time were politicians. Then with how their romance is meant to be kept secret and can’t really go for anybody about what a non awkward relationship should be like. Of course, they are going to be awkward. The only one criticism I have that they shouldn’t have done was having that scene where padme was uncomfortable by the way anakin looked at her which made Anakin creepy.

Hayden looked so nervous when he walked into the stage, probably not knowing what to expect after years of being bullied by assholes but then at 1:23 when he acknowledged that girl screaming "I love you Hayden!" with a little nod (and what it seems to be a whispered "thank you") it warms my heart so much everytime I see it. He didn't deserve all the hate he got for George's monotonous directing style, he definitely earned all the love he's getting now. Can't wait to see him in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Everyone says he's a terrible actor and I don't get why. He had so many fantastic moments where he really showed just the raw emotion and pain that Anakin had in his life. Sure, there were definitely some poor spots, but no actor is perfect, and the script was a tad painful at times.

Honestly, they did. As a child, I watched the prequels and I didn’t hate them, but I wasn’t a fan of them. Episode 1 was boring up until Duel of the Fates and Episode 2 was completely uninteresting. I always loved Episode 3 because we finally saw the transformation of Anakin into Darth Vader. And after seeing the new trilogy, I appreciate the prequels and the acting of Hayden a lot more than I used to before.
Ian McDiarmid really does come across as a nice guy, for a lot of his answers he takes advantage of the moment to throw some sort of compliment Hayden Christensen's way.
It's just his Palpatine act. He was always very nice to Anakin as well haha. He's actually really mean. Justing kidding.

You know what I love... is that for years people bashed on Hayden and said he was terrible and he ruined the prequel's whatever yet the second that concept art of him from force awakens came out he went back to being a rockstar and everybody loves him and wants him back they say he was terrible yet they cheer for him every time they see him and then when asked about it they say we never hated Him.... also I think he'll be in the last Jedi or at least episode nine because he had nothing to do with Star Wars since revenge of the Sith yet all of a sudden he's at this years celebration saying how much he missed it
GinoMarks I think a lot of fans just grew up in a lot of ways and came to see the faults of the prequels couldn't be entirely placed on the shoulders of one actor or several. I still find TPM and AtoC to be bad, but RotS has grown on me over the years in large part because Hayden is a strong actor, especially when acting just through facial dialogue. You just have to look past the meme scenes.

Hayden seems so innocent and do really feel bad how sometimes he’s hated for his part as Anakin, I thought he was good as Anakin. Seeing him here reminds me of Adam driver in his interviews
Ive always loved Anakin but i’m not a fan of Kylo however adam and Hayden don’t deserve hate. Hayden especially did so well with such a poor script. It takes real commitment to do that. I’m glad people appreciate Hayden now.

That is because Ian is more of an interesting and charismatic interviewee. He has a more of an engaging personality than Hayden. Hayden comes across as a little shy and self conscious.

Most people that trashed Hayden back then were adults. The fans that welcomed him in this video were kids back then who grew up with his portrayal. He is the childhood hero of many Star Wars fans. Most people who hated him back then are simply old now and don't care.
I just love that those of us who grew with the prequels but also loving the originals now has become adults and get a voice and get to show Hayden some love. The way some fans have treated him have just been inhumaine and way beyond acceptable. I grew up wacthing the original triolog on my dads old vhs tapes, and loved them but the special effects was so old at that point. So getting to grow up seeing the prequels at the movie theater was so magical and I have always absolutely loved them.

oneraceonedestiny I believe the proper term would be open minded for millennials that are willing to interpret story telling a different way than your generation and people who are willing to think for themselves instead of listening to someone else tell them how much they should like a movie. Anikin doesn’t come off dumb to me. If you knew the backstory then you would know the Jedi were pretty bad themselves. They judged and criticized anikin his entire life. Told him he should not feel feelings. His wife was gonna die and he had to choose between saving the man that could save his wife or save someone that was a dick to him his whole life. Which would you choose since he is so dumb? He knew the Jedi weren’t that great when both mace windu and and the Darth Sidious said “ he’s too dangerous to be left alive” about killing an unarmed man. So instead maybe sit down and think about how you interpret a story before you criticize the way others do, hmm?

When I first heard Matt Lanter’s Anakin, I thought he sounded nothing like Hayden.
Then I heard Hayden’s natural voice in this interview, and I realized that Matt was doing Hayden’s natural voice rather than his Star Wars voice.

I don’t understand either. Hayden in rots is one of if not my favourite performances in cinema. he captures anakin and the mood of the film perfectly. it just goes to show that all that hate was totally unwarranted
yes , i hate how he was one of the most hated actor in the prequels when everyone’s acting except for ewan mcgregor and ian mcdiarmid was bad , even natalie portman and samuel l jackson who we know are excellent actors had some badly delivered lines . The thing is hayden got it worse since he was one of the main characters and he had a lot of the worst lines like the sand one or the point of view one . If the fans want to blame someone they should have blamed george, who was the one that made hayden a creepy whiny guy in attack of the clones and wrote all the shitty dialogue .

I love how they gave a standing ovation for Hayden Christensen. He really was a good actor for Anakin Skywalker, in spite of the bashing he got.
This makes me happy. Seeing how much the fan community loves Hayden. Don't let a loud vocal minority represent our whole fanbase. I have issues with the prequels too, but let's fall back once in a while and enjoy what we have.
