    OK... This method will only work on an Electric oven! Very important! A gas oven has vents in the bottom to allow air to get in; consequently, a gas oven will cool 3 times faster than an electric. A better method in a gas oven is to start at 450 for 20 minutes, then reduce to 325 for 10 minutes per pound...

      Thanks, I stopped using chef John's. Too many recipes have turned out bad. Maybe it is my luck with him. I really like him. Gordon Ramsey is good and Martha Stewart is like the Prime Rib Queen.

    Worked great twice in my oven. Tried to cook in my daughters oven and didn’t work. Test oven like you have a prime rib in it. If oven is not still warm when you open doors it will not work. Wall of oven may be too thin and not hold in heat or it’s not air tight. Caint figure out what else it could be . Glad it this methods works in mine though

    I just bought my roast! It's 6lbs 9oz. I CAN'T WAIT! I will do it tomorrow.
    I have never made it before.
    I was planning on using my big Pyrex glass pan. Do you that is ok?
    All the videos I see have metal pans.
    I'm a cast iron & glass girl.

    • @mikobeers
      @mikobeers 5 лет назад

      Pyrex is fine. I would definitely make sure the roast is resting while it cooks. For example, you can either use the ribs or a rack. Bon appetit!

      The theory is because it came out cold from the fridge, the large slab of beef will slowly rise to room temperature.

  • @williamderosa8947

    The meat looks like select grade or choice at best. You don’t need a rack when you have bones on roast

    • @gripeotheday
      @gripeotheday 5 лет назад +2

      William Derosa “Prime” rib doesn’t refer to the quality of the beef rather the cut of the meat. Doesn’t matter what grade it is, they’re all still prime rib

    • @williamderosa8947
      @williamderosa8947 5 лет назад +1

      I did not say that Prime Rib has to be Prime Beef. That being said not sure why you would make a video that does not have a piece of quality meat to start, The most important ingredient in this dish is the meat. No matter how you cook it if meat is not good quality to start you will not get best result. All that aside ... your cooking method looks like it will be great .... Merry Christmas

    • @williamderosa8947

      Rick Monday hey Rick ... I’m certainly not rich by any means. That being said the most important part of this recipe is a good well marbled piece of meat. The difference between select $5.99 and choice is usually $2.00 per pound. Now multiply that by 4 or 5 pounds .. around 9/10 dollar’s. Although none “rich” if ur buying Prime Rib your not homeless either. Just saying...

    • @jimklemens5018

      @@gripeotheday This cut of beef is a standing rib roast.

      Best way to get around that is to slice her piece and throw it in a pan and just sear each side for about 2 minutes...itll be medium-well after that.
