There is a interesting story behind this song. Alan Jackson was good friends with George Jones. The year George released Choices Alan had also released a new song.
At the CMAs they would not let George preform.
They invited Alan to preform his new song. In the middle of preforming his song Alan switched over to Choices!!!! The audience erupted in cheers!!

If I remember the story right, they had asked George to perform a shortened version of the song and he refused. Alan was making a statement that George should have been able to perform the whole song.

The CMA told George he could only sing about 30 seconds of the song because thats what they were giving the other "new" singers to sing their song. He refused & left the show. Alan thought they did George wrong & so did l. You let a legend sing as long as he wants to.

George Jones' inimitable voice set the mood for his songs. One of my favorites is 'She's My Rock,' which is about a man sticking up for his woman. He also did some goofy, upbeat numbers like 'I'm a People..' Don't forget the fantastic duet with Tammy Wynette, 'Golden Ring.'
