I wish that Polaroid would make a new glass lens camera ...something similar to the Lomo Square that uses the Instax Square film!!!
Yes it works,,, I thought everybody knew that,,, but even better you can even put the I type film in your spectra camera too...nice video brotha
Its a shame they don't make a 600 compatible cartridge with a rechargeable battery in it that can be loaded with flim refills. Cheaper flim and less binned batteries.
That would be brilliant!
You would of had another step with original 600 film. You’d of had to put a dark slide or an old polaroid picture half way into the camera to allow the cartridge to ride over the guides. Original Polaroid SX-70 and 600 films had fail safes on the bottom of the cartridge to prevent you inserting the wrong film into the camera.
Just a fun fact.
That is a fantastic hack. So much easier than some I have seen that take one photo at a time.
I usually just grab the battery from a 600 film and slide it under the itype film cartridge. It's a tight fit and it might break something if you're not careful but it works 100%. Doing this on my Impulse AF
Thank you ! Im gonna try this myself
Great video, this was a question I needed answered!
Have you looked into converting an SX70 to take 600 type film? Just like you I wish that Polaroid would do more of the special editions for 600 type not just the I-type. I recently bought an SX70 Sonar and am waiting to get it back from a shop that does conversions so that I can use 600 types natively without an ND filter. I definitely want to do the itype swap into 600 type cartridges to take advantage of the special edition frames while having the advantage of the great SX70 glass lens.
If you're going to have it modded for 600 type film, you might want to go the full mile get one of the battery mods for it. They're modules that are attached to the bottom of the SX-70, with rechargeable battery cells, which make contact with the internal battery contacts of the SX-70 by punching two holes in the leather skin. That way, you can pop in i-Type film and just shoot, no fiddly refilling necessary. The only true downside is that it makes the camera a bit more bulky, and you need to recharge it every now and then. Companies like Rezivot make them. They can be a bit pricey, but do realize you're saving a couple of bucks with every film pack, as you don't need to get the slightly more expensive 600 packs every few i-Type packs for a fresh battery, so it stacks up in the long run.
Great video I get the picture.
Have you tested how many itype packs you can use off of one 600 battery?
I managed to cycle about 4 packs through one battery. The problem is that the battery doesn’t die outright. The 3rd shot our of my 5th pack got jammed in the rollers because the motors weren’t getting enough power. I got through pack 5 by grabbing and pulling the film through, but that’s not the best solution. So 4 seems to be the safest bet.
@@GarrettCrespo thanks! This is super helpful! Just did my first transfer successfully with the Keith harring film!
Does B&W on the box mean that the pictures are black and white?
I once had a Swinger camera 1970's that shot black and white pictures.
It sold for $19,
Yes. Black and White boxes are black and white film.
Nice idea! Did you hear back from polaoid?
Thanks for the vid man! What was your exposure meter in the sx70 mandolarian shots? Thanks!
I left the meter centered, but I used a Polaroid SX-70 ND filter that you install over the film cartridge.
Wow... Thank you so much, honestly (not being sarcastic either). I might actually try this on one of my 600s as a test 🤔
thank you! (And lmao, Why was I nervous WITH you). And was that 'dark bag' purchased or hand made? Could you use a jumper with the body hole closed + while also in a dark room?
The darkbag was bought. I highly recommend buying one, even if it’s a cheap one. The main reason is because it has multiple layers of dense materials. A jumper would be too thin and even the smallest about of light will mess up the film.
how about under a blanket in a dark room?
So how many pictures do you think you can take on one of the 600 batteries? It'll have lasted for 8 shots already. Would be annoying to have the battery run out with polaroids still in the cartridge 😂
I haven’t tested that yet. But the most I’ve used one battery for so far was 3 refills
@@GarrettCrespo oh wow! So 32 shots from one battery? 😊 That's awesome!
No, I don’t have a problem 😂😂😂😂😂😂
why tho its like 2 dollars cheaper if it was lik 10 bucks id agree
It's not entirely for cost. It's because the iType film gets a bunch of special edition versions and the 600 type doesn't.
I bought golden and matte black frames, which are just for the I type
@@thebakedtoast oh yes that part makes sense if you want different frames everyone mentions price tho and I’m like 🤔
No offense but you should look a little harder is you think no one has covered this. Analog things RUclips channel for instance
I did look around. I know people have covered i-type vs 600 film before, but I haven’t found a single video covering swapping the film and actually using it in a classic camera. Unless you have a link to a video that I haven’t seen.
