I will give Yuongno's the edge on focus breathing. Canon's RF 35 F/1.8 breathes significantly. OTOH Canon's has both focus and control rings, plus IS, plus semi-macro close focal range.
Thanks for the review! Indeed good to see more 3rd-party aufotocus lenses appearing for Canon RF. (While not being exactly low-budget, I'm also very happy with my Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 RF.)
I cant wait for you to do the venus 35mm 0.95 full frame lens. That's one I've been looking forward to for awhile now.
It's the same Lens, as the well-known E-Mount Version, like Chris said - but the fact is, that Lens is only close to 1 year old, not 2 years, seriously. It came out on Aliexpress as Launch last Fall. (edit) the RF Mount Version is more expensive, but does have slightly better build quality.
Didnt see the price in the description but can’t help but notice the Canon version is available as a refurb direct from Canon, 25% reduced price changes the value proposition…
Looks like it has faster AF than the Canon 35mm 1.8 STM, But the Canon will not have any weird compatibility issues and focuses to 1:2. B&H has this YNLens listed at $375 with a long ship time. I would have a hard time choosing this over the Canon unless it gets a lot cheaper.
It's a bit of a shame that Yongnou can make a better focusing lens than Canon for it's own mount and for less money.
@@todanrg3 Not only better focusing but also weather sealed and includes a hood, which Canon still consider both to be "luxury" appointments.
So glad more 3rd party lenses are coming. I wish it was a 1.4, I'd buy it. At f2, hard to see a big group of people wanting to buy it, but just glad there are more lenses being made.
if it were 1.4, it would not be this cheap
@@tridinh1011 yeah. I understand that. I didn't say it would be.
@1:10 Love that callout to another high profile YTer that doesn't like 35mm xD
Would love to hear your impression of the new Viltrox 35mm for Sony and Nikon as well. I picked up a copy and ultimately returned it. Had a couple issues that really bothered me, too much to enjoy using it, but maybe I'm just picky. Would love to see how it fares in your tests! Appreciate the reviews so much, best and most helpful lens tests on RUclips.
The Viltrox 50mm for Sony that just released was also a return for me as well. The autofocus had severe issues and it had the strongest purple fringing I have ever seen.
I occasionally have problems with 85mm YN lens connecting with my R5. HOWEVER, it is so cheap and so small it feels worth the inconvenience.
So you spend £4500 on a camera body and then you buy this lens.... That does not make sense.
@@Don19762it's called traveling light. :)
@@Don19762 not many options to date ✌🏼
@@MikeMena Not what I would call it 😁
@@felixespana2004 But why spend £4500 on an amazing hightech body and settle for a cheap Chinese substandard lens? It does not make sense. Seems like a huge waste of money.
Review the Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.8 Z I'm really thinking to get one but I'm waiting for more extense reviews like yours.
I think like I will stick with my Samyang F2.8 here. It is sharper after all. And at F2.8 with a few tricks you can get some decent shallowness of dept too.
ha ha red ring
no price in description
What is with Samyang, Viltrox and Yongnuo all using the red ring? I kinda love it after so many years of Canon trying to charge rapidly-increasing prices for the "luxury" of having a lens hood in the box.
I like they are using the red ring. Ring snobs are fuming lol
Does it focus faster than the Canon RF 35mm in VIDEO mode?
Hi Chris, you asked to be reminded, and along with others here, what's the price please ??
I have a quick question if you could do a review on the canon 28 to 300mm lense
whats the price
It's 380$
Nah from me
I have the canon rf35mm and looks so much better than this yongnuo, if the price difference is not really considerable, i can't see the point for buying this lens
I’d grab for the weather sealing tbh
Can you test the Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF Lens for Sony E mount?
Do you remember which version of the lens firmware it had? I think the latest from Yongnuo is maybe 1.08.
vs rf35mm 1.8 ?
영상이 도움이 많이 됐습니다
Canon eos m50 에도 사용 가능한가요?
Hello! Whow is it compared to Canon 35 1.8?
What is the price?
I heard canon is banning all 3rd party RF lens manufacturers recently.
This is probably not the right video to ask this question, but please tell me you're in possession of a RF 100-400mm IS USM F5.6-8 👀
No-one is, yet
@@christopherfrost Oh ok, thats fine then haha. Can't wait to see how it compares to the 70-300mm IS USM II in terms of sharpness 😁
Where can I buy this in the EU?
A Yongnuo representative told me that Canon has sued Yongnuo over the use of the RF mount and forced them to cease production. By Jan 2022 all Yongnuo RF lenses have disappeared in China and soon will them overseas as the stocks run out. The representative appeared to became emotional as he went through this and complained "RF third party lenses are dead. Switch to a different brand of camera if you want to use third party lenses.
Canon bought yonguno wdym lol
Yongnuo is too early for 3rd party releases... Canon is still holding the first 5 exclusive years. (you can look at Sony e mount history for reference
Gimmie a good reason to buy this instead of Canon RF 35mm F1.8 IS STM
I have the Canon version, and would really consider this for the just the weather sealing/build quality. But the canon version is great .
Emmm..I would like to pay more 80 bucks for TTArtisan 35mm f1.4, although is MF lens.
where if i want to buy this lens ? help please 🥺
You can't, it is discontinued. Need some luck on finding good 2nd copies
And... released again on 17 January 2024 🤣
this is a disappointing optical performance compared to the excellent YN 85mm 1.8 sadly
Its not that bad actually. I have compared to the sony 35mm fe 1.8, and sold the sony at the end... but on canon there is not much reason for this instead of 35RF
@@jobbagyferi exactly what i was thinking when it comes to canon rf. it doesn't perform as good as the excellent rf 35mm 1.8. but the yn 85mm 1.8 is a lens i could buy over the rf 85mm f2 thanks to its AF and IQ
Disgraceful! Taking your shoes off without undoing the laces!
OMG another first!
I need to think of some new award to give you haha
@@christopherfrost a vintage lens review is fine for me ;-). Preferably a Pentax.
