I can appreciate this version of Superman way more. So tragic what happened to the creators.

Thanks for making this! Its a reminder that creators are seldom treated well. His early stories are relevant to the reception of the Son of Kal-El run.

And this, friends, is why Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder's Superman SUCKS. Superman was never meant to be an amoral godling who mopes about whether or not humanity SHOULD be saved in-between bouts of "Dragon Ball Z"-style escalating-destruction brawls. He's a champion of the New Deal, a man with the power of a god who'd use that power to punch out your gouging landlord or pull a little girl's cat out of a tree. A refutation of the Nazi corruption of the Nietzsche "Ubermensch" ideal, that stated that a superhuman being of incalcuable might would conquer and rule, unhindered by the notions of "good" and "evil" of lesser beings... instead, Superman lives among the so-called "common rabble" in accordance with what his salt-of-the-earth American Midwest adoptive parents taught him, and fights everything from mad gods to corrupt officials on behalf of "the little guy."
And now you know why characters like Homelander, Omni-Man and the "Injustice" version of Superman piss me off... and why I was glad to watch Injustice!Superman get his ass handed to him by a Barbarian Hero who rides on the back of a green tiger... and has a similar "Space Fantasy" version of Superman's double-life as both a superhuman champion and "Just Some Schmuck."

This is why I always connected to Superman has a hero, especially the immigrant origins of a character like him. He is the refugee from the stars and in many ways yeah, he is a leftist hero in a sense and kind of always was. People only see Superman for his powers and not for what he is on a personal level has Grant Morrison put it Superman is human beings exaggerated to a huge proportion. One thing I feel folks forget when they talk about modernizing Superman is that more so in movies Superman has been in the limbo because they don't want to embrace the character or what he is.
People act has if we can't modernize Superman yet ignore the fact that he is a journalist something REALLY relevant to today or forget the fact he is a refugee. Films have barely touched the surface when it comes to Superman on film (not including small screen or animation has it seems most general audience get there full understanding thru a movie not to say people don't do the same with small screen audience) the films even Zack Snyders Superman haven't really touched AT ALL the full idea of the character compared to Spider-Man and Batman have and it's baffling and shows the poor management of the character by WB/DC.

The creators bring a product to the table, while the publisher provides the means to distribute it. It should be an equal ownership at the very least. They created Superman at the height of the great depression, so they were in somewhat of a desperate situation. It is understandable that they would take most any deal that they could get. They were exploited. It wasn't an even playing field. And It wasn't a fair deal. They weren't the only comic creators that this happened to. Bill Finger of Batman and many others experienced the same thing. It has happened in other genre as well, music, motion pictures and others. The artist tend to get exploited. There should be better protection for the creators.

Looking back on the origins of Superman and how heavily he was changed with the Comics Code, I believe the Juvenile Delinquency Wertham was fighting against was the kids of the times waking up to the fact that American capitalism harms more than it helps, and just like Superman they needed to tear down these systems of oppression.

Seeing Superman at his earliest superhero incarnation makes me wish they went with that version if they wanted to make Man of Steel, or any future reboot of the Superman movies, to be as grounded in realism as the Dark Knight trilogy because you can pretty much explain him being faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and capable of leaping tall buildings as Earth's gravity effecting his abilities differently than that of Krypton's. And it's just those changes in abilities to make it more scientifically plausible than gaining heat vision, super breath, or any other fantastical elements that would be deemed "not grounded enough."

Honestly saying Superman is the most recognizes character is very true saying he's the most profitable isn't the case anymore. He might be in the top 5 that's was prior to the MCU. Now he might even be less than that cause majority of the things Superman is associated with doesn't really sell like that. Which is why I keep saying DC put all their eggs in the Batman and a couple I'm Superman's basket and wonder why their sales don't really work that well in most industries. Seriously outside Batman name a character at DC that can sell consistently, even if we solely look at comics Daredevil isn't even considered a major seller in terms of Marvel and he usually outsells Superman even before the 52. Not saying Superman can't sell but he's not as profitable I believed his fans seem to want him to be.
