Monster Magnet especially with their first 3 albums is definitely one of the best Stoner Rock bands. Great to see them on this list at 6

I saw Kyuss was number 3 and freaked out a bit, then I saw Sleep was number 2 and was like 'oh yea, Black Sabbath'
Glad Uncle Acid are on the list. Saw them live those guys are amazing, too bad they don’t tour US much
Sweet Leaf was the whole reason I first tried weed, it really makes those long, drawn out sections of the genre way more entertaining.
They are missing some good ones: Spirit Caravan, Orange Goblin, and of course one of the best bands of all time The Sword!
I think it's a given that Sabbath will be #1 on any metal related list.

For me, Kyuss is also number one, it was only after this band that the genre really started ... but please don't get me wrong ... Black Sabbath is the godfather and also inventor of "Heavy Hard Doom Rock", but "Stoner" is something of a subgenre ....

Between this video and the comment section, I've come to realize that I'm a huge Stoner Rock fan. I always knew I liked the genre, but I'm very familiar with most of the bands that have come up.

QOTSA for most of people that I see around that enjoy the stoner genre/niche/movement(call it however you want) is not stoner, but alternative rock( even indie rock) with stoner influencies. Their sound is very, but VERY different than most of stoner bands including kyuss. The first album, maybe the second from qosta possibly can be called stoner, and yeah they rock, but they are nothing compared to stuff from Sleep, Electric WIzard, Fu Manchu, Kyuss and many other bands including some that weren't remembered on this list like Red Fang, Orange Goblin , Dozer, Lowrider, and it goes on and on

My favorite stoner band (even though they are not metal by a Longshot) will always be The Grateful Dead
This was a good list. I have to mention that it is really rare that i feel, that i have to wright a comment! But this time i could not resist! I know my english is not the best, but i try my best. But you guys melted my heart! I'm not in to social media and comments😊 And i didn't read all the comments. So i can't say, all are as respectful as they are, in the beginning. Still this gives me hope, that there are still people who can accept, the opinion of others. And not ridicule them. So this was my motivation to wright something. And i hope everybody got at least the basics 😀
From this list i think Black Sabbath is no doubt, one of the bands who literallly foundet the stoner rock in general.
In the aspect of my personel prefferences, i like the doom. But its not my favorite.
I think my favorite band practices stoner rock.
And they are absolutely amazing. So my personal addition would be "COLOUR HAZE" even when they drift to psychedelic rock.
They still are groundet in th stoner.

There's a lot of really good bands that fall or have fallen into the category. Purely subjective, I know, but good list. I would have to mention Fireball Ministry, Sasquatch, The Sword and Alabama Thunderpussy.

Dude... Saint Vitus, Sleep, and Sabbath were all in the Top 10 Doom Metal bands list. As they should be because those bands aren't really "stoner". Electric Wizard is way more doom than stoner. They could have put The Sword, Orange Goblin, and even COC from Deliverance onward on this list.

Sleep is stoner metal but Saint Vitus not so much, rather doom than stoner
Sleep is Stoner/Doom, so they're both. Saint Vitus is more Doom than anything and putting Sabbath in the list is kind of a cool homage and all but it's unnecessary indeed.

@@hippikilla1753 - That's what happens when these ADD fuckers come up with a 100 different sub-genres. Doom, Stoner, Sludge, etc. It's all Sabbath influenced heavy riffage. Then Loudwire comes up with different lists featuring the same bands.
