    I bought my Decathon Forclaz Trek 100 after watching this and other videos reviewing Decathlon jackets. I really love it and it keeps me warm riding motorcycle at 30F. And only need to pay 1/3 of the price of the other name brands like Arcteryx and Patagonia...

    I just received mine today, same style and colour. Love the fit, love the weight, hood fits REALLY well and the elasticated cuffs were a pleasant surprise. Can't wait to try it out on a hike/camp. I can now say that I agree with your review - seems a solid product for relatively little money!

    I received mine this past weekend. For the review I purchased a size up. I'm a medium slim so I purchased a large. After putting on the jacket. I was extremely impressed with the quality. This jacket is beautiful for the price. After wearing it and trying to sit down with it zipped, I realized it was too small. I reached out to decathlon to see if they'd be willing to do an exchange for an extra large. Unfortunately due to my having removed the tag they said they would not. I'm not trashing this company. I think the jacket is an insane value. It's beautiful. This is just a warning. Make sure you wear the jacket a few days before you remove the tag so that you can exchange it if you need to. Keep in mind I'm a medium slim. I was only wearing a t-shirt under this jacket and it was too tight. If you like to wear sweaters or you want to do any kind of layering, make sure it fits you correctly before you cut those tags out. For reference, I'm 5'8 and weigh 170 lbs with a 32" Waist and 41" chest.

      Ya, same here. I was expecting pretty poor specs. Then when I looked the spec up online, I thought they must be lying or the build quality was poor. My expectations have been blown away. This might be the most excited about a piece of gear I've been in awhile.

    Kustin,
    Ordered based on this review.
    Ordered XL.
    TIGHT FIT.
    Zipper was on left side of jacket. Did they ship me a women's? Nice jacket just TIGHT.

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  4 года назад

      The zipper is on the left - european style. As I mentioned, the Large is snug on me for my size. A snug fit is ideal for a down jacket as you want to minimize the amount of extra airspace between you and the jacket.
      Hopefully you can exchange it if it doesn't fit.

    Bought one on your recommendation. Unbelievable value for $75 CAD online. As good if not better than any big brands like NorthFace, Patagonia, etc for equal comparison. Sizes listed are Euro sizing therefore you need to size one up for US/Cdn sizing.
    Wore it through Toronto winter so far between 6C to -4C with a sweatshirt and winter hat. Keeps you warm.

      Ya, it's pretty nuts! I used it on my last trip in -15C with a merino t-shirt, grid fleece quarter-zip, and fleece full zip and was toasty when pretty static. I'm hoping to see if that same layering set-up will be good to -20C - if so, then I will be extremely excited.

The only reason that I did not buy it was that I allready own a synthetic jacket 383gr and warm as well...did not actually need another one! But a good choice for sure! Looks like a decent option. I feel like you touched on it a bit, but how’s the fit? That for me is such a critical part of a jackets performance. It’s honestly a large factor as to why I invest into brands like Arcteryx, Rab, Patagonia, etc. I have the Outdoor Vitals down jacket and although the quality vs price is there, the fit is pretty poor. I even have a Black Diamond Forge Hoody and they have missed the mark on fit design big time. Thoughts?

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  5 лет назад

      The size large is very close to the medium ghost whisperer. Slimmer fit. I'd say it fits me well at 5'10, 185lbs, 40in chest and 33in waist. The European fit works well I'd you have an athletic build.

I'm waiting to hear back when the next restock is as I know a bunch of my viewers are waiting to pick it up.

    I'm 195 cm (6ft6), and also have it in large. It fits me well. Weird. :D I have a Millet soft shell jacket which performs very well up to -10 C temp so I don't use this one. I carry it as backup. Tried it in -10 C and it works well. Don't like the elastic cuff. I prefer velcro. Also the neck part is a bit too low. Well, I shouldn't take this as a down side since it was very cheap. Around 40% of this Millet soft shell.

      I've been using it pretty extensively so far this winter. I'd say it's good for a mostly static activity down to -5. If you're completely static, I think you need a midweight fleece or other midlayer on top of a light baselayer and that would likely only get you down to freezing or maybe a bit below. Here's my personal experience where it has kept me warm at various temperatures and activities.
      1. -17 C: Backcountry skiing where I throw it over my light base layer and softshell at lunch breaks and transitions.
      2. -10 C: Walking about town (slight chill when the wind gusts).
      3. -4 C: Filming videos outside with only a light base layer on. Mostly static.
      4. -7 C: Hanging out outside 50-50 static and moving around. Sunny. Light base layer on.

    When dealing with foreign companies, fit worries me more than about anything. Anyone who's ever looked through AliExpress sizing charts knows what I'm talking about. I'm an inch shorter than the man in this video, but I have an extra 12" at the chest. When dealing with an item of clothing that is generally slim fitting, I just really can't get anything that fits well. On the other hand, I'm not the type to be wearing a puffer jacket as a jacket. I'd rather wear something nice out and about. I only use them as a layer, so if it was a little snug at the middle it wouldn't be that much of an issue because it would be covered. But since I can't try one on, you never know how tight it's going to be. And I just don't trust online size charts.
    I've been looking for one with a hood, waist pull and elastic at the cuffs, so this one would fit the bill. But it doesn't really look like it's THAT elastic-y at the cuffs in the vid or on the website.
    I'll keep it in mind, though. To be honest, probably the only reason I'm considering upgrading from the $20 one I bought at JC Penney three years ago is that I'd like to get one with a hood.

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  4 года назад

      That is always the trouble with buying online for sure, especially when Asian and European fits can be quite a bit different than North America. That being said, I find it difficult even with North American brands to nail down fit sometimes.

It will say 'nh500' - that's 'nature hike' while the number describes the level of technical features on the product. So more pockets and stuff like that. I made a list some months ago with all the abbreviations.. Don't know where it is. What I remember - nh = nature hike. Basically only going for a walk. Not suitable for hiking. Mh = mountain hike. Now we're getting into hiking area. Trek = Trekking. Pretty decent stuff. Wh = winter hike. Warm hiking gear.
