Sponsored or not, if you stop saying the English TH you are so close to the French original, it’s never been easier to say a French brand right from the beginning.
Is the Fleece Pants link working for others? I am having an issue trying to get it working or find them on the site.
How does Decathlon's warranty and attached customer service compare to store like REI or MEC (CANADA) or other comparable store?
Everything is out of stock, that company sucks, I know you get paid to make videos talking good about them, but ain't that good
@@Maximus01776 I don't get paid to make videos about Decathlon. I have mentioned the stock issues to them multiple times though are it is why the frequency of how much I talk about Decathlon (even though I think the value of their products is phenomenal) has decreased.
What makes Decathlon special, is that in the last 20-25 years they made the outdoors affordable for everyone. Every budget, in every country they are present in. In my opinion, they revolutionized the access to the mountain, water, cycling, running and many other sports, you name it. For me they provoked a massive change for people to be out and in comfort without braking the bank and ruin their budget. For families this is great!
Thank you Justin for sharing your experiences with us!
Good luck!
I can attest, i'm from france. They do not advertise teir brand, plus with huge volume, they can sell at cheap prices. That's why they dont do discount this often, cause their margin is relativly low. All this is made so all consumer can afforrd quality products for resonable prices. I like to compare decathlon to Ikea, they have the same mindset ! :) love decathlon ❤️
Yes. With 4 kids, I'll couldn't probably afford to take them to some places without Decathlon... But every item (in Poland and Germany) has to be checked and double-checked (specially shoes) before buying and useing, becouse the quality can be very different among the same model od stuff.
Fully agree with your comment. Decathlon produces good great at all kinds of price ranges which is brilliant for less fortunate countries, and especially - it makes sports available to a wide range of economic classes of people. I am very frugal so I still order most stuff from china, but I have a lot of decathlon stuff
I love Decathlon gear. Here in Belgium it is super popular, everyone owns Quechua / Forclaz stuff. Unbeatable quality/price ratio.
I'd never heard of this store, and finally a REASONABLE option for those of us in Canada! Too many RUclipsrs refer out to places like REI or other cottage brands.
Visit Europe then
There’s one in Calgary now.
In Europe is a well-known brand all over the continent due to his affordability and variety of products
their gear is awesome, I have trekking pants from them that I bought for equivalent of like 20 usd, they're turning 5 this year and still kicking
It's a French co that do not waste money on sponsorship, leaving best value for smart people whom don't need to buy themselves an ego.
I just randomly went to this store and I was absolutely mindboggled on how affordable it is
I think you missed a lot of great stuff !
What I have that you didn’t include but is great
1: The backpacking tents
2: the sleeping pad , blow up
3: mini single cooking burner
4: cup and plate both in stainless
5 : micro towel
6: small picnic rug ( use inside tent folded in half to stop rising damp and protect bath floor )
7: Marino shirts and socks
I decided to get an MT100 jacket based on your review. We have a couple of stores in Calgary so I was able to determine my size needs. I loved it so much I picked up a few other items. Thank you so much for your reviews! They need to sponsor you!
LOVE DECATHLON so much. Best value for money, good reliable kit.
All of the Simond stuff is just so good. I’ve got several jackets and gloves and other bits from them. Everyone is just great
Here in the interior of Portugal, decathlon is not only the best sports related store, but it’s widely used for cold weather clothes. Winters are severely colder than coastal areas, and there’s no other accessible cold weather stores. People value it for the fleeces, warm liners and comfortable footwear .
The waterproof over mitts are seriously good; I reckon they kept me from getting hypothermia when I seriously underestimated the rain the forecast during my first attempt at a thru hike in UK in 2020.
The merino liner gloves, buff and touque/hat are ridiculously good value for money too.
In France, the merino buff and touque cost 12€ each 😊
@@gwen9642 yea, I can't believe they are not always sold out
I live in Colombia and Decathlon is fantastic. It really is good to great quality gear for reasonable prices. I hike and hammock camp in the rainforest 30 days a year and everything I've gotten there I've been more than satisfied. The trekking bags are awesome. Way cheaper than Osprey and just as good if not better. Get the zip down trekking bag with the easy fit adjustment. It's worth the extra pound. It's the most comfortable bag I've ever used. I'm not a gram dork because of the environment I trek and camp in.
I'm not a rich man but luv backpacking, and was looking to up my gear... Thank you very much for this review! For the winter -15 and lower jacket, I have a 20 year old Kanuk, still in perfect condition (these are the best, made in Canada - Montréal Québec). Top notch.
I LOVE Decathlon! As soon as they opened a store in Toronto I have been buying clothes there. The price on base layers is phenomenal! I also have the rain mitts, they work really well. I wear them backpacking, and when I'm out walking the dog in cold rain or wet snow. I've got the merino toque and neck gaiter AND merino underpants, which are awesome for multiday trips. I also have a pair of merino glove liners that are great too either for marginally chilly days, and as an extra layer when it's cold.
The fleece pants are also so nice for at camp and for a warm sleeping layer. So comfy and warm.
My sister said she needs a new winter coat, I told her to go to Decathlon. My neice justmovedd back to Ontario from BC. She said she needs a winter coat, I told her to go to Decathlon. They have some amazing gear, at surprisingly affordable prices. I love them. But I shop online, because the traffic where the store is is really f#@%ing crazy 🤪
Recently picked up the Mt100 for a last summer hike up Mt Washington. I’d give it an 8 out of 10. Appreciate the reviews my man- Been relying on them for awhile now.
I love Decathlon! I have some cycle rain gear from them for my commute to work. I'm Dutch so I cycle to work. I use the MT100 down jacket for hiking :)
My wife has a $160 three layer waterproof breathable shell jacket from Decathlon that I bet works at least 75-80% as well as my very, very, very expensive Arcteryx Alpha SV shell, and as well as any of the $300-400 shells she's had. All my winter running gear is Decathlon, and more and more of my regular outdoor gear is from there.
Literally just picked up one of their puffers because of your videos at the new store in Calgary! They probably SHOULD be sponsoring you…
Just received the decathlon 30 litre MH500 backpack and it looks fantastic! Love the features, the fit and the quality. Wow, all this for $112.!! Thanks for sharing this info!
Yeah the MT100 is great, I got one and then my wife wanted one as soon as she saw it. Still, 2 down jackets for the fall weather for under $200 is awesome.
I bought the Forclaz Men's MT100 Hooded Down Puffer Jacket and it is a nice piece of gear and kept me warm on some cool nights and mornings. I know I could have spent more but I don't have any regrets. 290g or about 10.2 oz is pretty light for a nice warm jacket and only $100 usd.
Fantastic as always!!! Love that you do discuss budget options! I al ways appreciate how you put name, price and weight up on the screen so I can see it easily....I only request that maybe you leave those specs up there a little longer...sometimes I am taking notes!!! Keep up the great work!
We are very familiar with Decathlon gear in our family. I own the MT100 and MT900 down jackets (women version) and they are my go-to for any backpacking trip. The merino wools products are also great. My favorite pick is my down sleeping bag, I've got the previous version of the current Forclaz MT900 for only $40 on a clearance sale. It keeps me warm and comfy in the Sierras. I add a Sea to Summit liner for trips during the fall.
I hadn’t looked into Decathlon before and I’m so glad to hear that they have women specific jackets! Thanks for that big of info :-)
Really wish we had a store that sold decathlon clothing near me so I could try stuff on. Also the US website has far fewer items that seem to always be sold out. Hopefully they increase the options and stock numbers for us soon!
i have 2 of their hiking shirts for just normal wear. puffy jacket is nice too
Love Decathlon stuff. Bought a light weight waterproof jacket last year MH500, fab design, great value and kept me dry after 6hr of hiking in a constant downpour. Didn’t know about the backpacks, will have a look, always wanting to reduce the weight on a walk.
Cheers Justin 👍
That Back pack is ace! I hot it while back, took it out Saturday night. Really comfy oven fully loaded.
Decathlon is a great budget option Justin Indoors! Great video!
If you’re in Canada, I also think Mountain Warehouse gear is pretty good bang for buck
The Simond jacket is an amazing jacket - it beats products that are 3-4X the price.
Decathlon makes great great stuff. I made the entire camino de santiago and went on to finisterrae with a pair of decathlon's boots that i paid 49,99€ : in 1000 km i had not a single blister and not a single drop of water entered the boots (and i even walked in the mud to the ankles for days on)
Decathlon Rules ! ❤
My wife went to the Madrid store and picked up the mt100 for hiking and backpacking. i use the 100 for backpacking in the Wyoming Rockies. i have used down to freezing with no issues.
Nice vid, passing along to my critters and their friends. Cant get over how different you look in a beanie.
The down jacket are really excellent for the price, a must have!
I have bought my son and his partner 2 backpacks 2 sleeping bags and a cookset for under $600 from Decathalon. Very impressed with the company. Bought from the Market Mall Calgary location
I'm glad you mentioned the waterproof mitts. I just read some reviews where customers complained that they might have been good in a light rain but were definitely not waterproof. I'd love to see more comments about the quality of these mitts as I'm considering dropping $70 on Zpacks version.
Just counted at least 68 Decathlon products on my gear list... 😊 forclaz, quechua, solognac, kipsta, wedze, domyos, simond, kipsta, rockrider..
For biking, running, bushcraft, hiking and trekking mainly. I went so many times in a short period of time 😮 that one of the guys introduced me to his mom who works there as well in the same store 😂 and me and that guy changed numbers to share info for trips
Those rain mits look great! And comments seem to back that up. Of course XL is out of stock though. Saved/notification on. Thanks! Recently did my first hikes in pouring rain and gloves was the only thing I forgot.
The Merino wool stuff from Decathlon is extremely good
I love that tent behind you. Do you know if it will be available in USA?
Justin just wanted to say another hello and that you are one of my favourite creators. Thanks for bringing us packwizard as well, i try to push it over lighterpack in conversation with others. It truly is a great tool and we users are fkn spoiled. Haha. See you on the next one.
Hey Justin, any alternatives to the Simond Mountaineering jacket in the states? The UK website doesn't ship here.
We have the stores down here in Quebec and they do offer great value on a lot of stuff. They're great for hunting and fishing gear as well. HOWEVER, I think it,s really important that people are aware that YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST ORDER ONE SIZE LARGER THAN YOU USUALLY WOULD WHENEVER YOU ORDER FROM DECATHLON!!!. I'm a medium and sometimes small in just about every brand on the market but I always have to buy large at decathlon and it seems to be the same for everyone I talk to. Apparently it's even more for women who often have to buy 2 or 3 sizes larger than they usually choose at other stores.
Thanks for this. Was just about to ask everyone if it’s true to size up one size with all their gear - they do say this on their site so good to know it’s true. I wear a true medium, will make sure to order Larges!
I'm a woman and I've found sizing to be all over the place, inconsistent even within same brand (like Quechua shoes, for example). I love decathlon and buy a lot from it but I hate their sizing
Great review ! Decathlon gear are high quality and well tested before launch by hikers. Trusty gear for every situation at low cost
I pretty much only wear Decathlon merino shirts and boxershorts nowadays, especially when at the office or visiting people over the weekend (ok so all the time basically). No more smelly tshirt for me.
Also great for music festivals btw
I also love my somewhat neopreen Triban cycling gloves i got there. Great for cycling in wet and colder weather, but also great for ice skating or running for instance. Great dexterity, warm enough when wet and just there when you need them!
The ski Touring pants are great
I checked out those fleece pants - fyi they seem to weigh 250 g instead of 150 g.
But yeah, Decathlon is fantastic when you're on a budget. On the other hand, I have noticed that not all of their products are durable. For example the zipper coming off of my zip-off pants (MT500 I think). The elephant in the room is also sustainability, when it comes to the factories where this stuff is made. Of course this also goes for more famous brands though...
The clothes from decathlon are great value and long lasting, especially the Simond brand.
I would add the rain jacket mh 500, the fabric is comparable to gore-tex pro for a fraction of the price, it’s a little less waterproof, but not enough to see the difference and is as breathable as gore-tex pro, it’s resistant and can cost about 1/5 of the price of gore-tex pro jacket, depending the one you take and the sales going on.
i’m chinese in shanghai. i think we have the lowest price for decathlon gear over the world. for example, on monthly sale, 780rmb for mt900 backpack, 270rmb for mt100 down jacket, 170rmb for mt500 fleece Tshirt and 1100rmb for mt900 2p tent. 7.3rmb=1dollar
Hi Justin, I think it was you who in one of your newer videos recommended a lightweight rain/shell jacket from decathlon?? But can’t seem to find the video now😮🫣
The MT100 is a fantastic jacket
Hi thanks for the video. What are the purple pants you are wearing in this video?
I am a Decathlon fan boy!
Great gear
Although I love decathlon don’t always expect miracles. I had stuff like sleeping Matts or rubber boots break way too soon, but typically their gear is getting better, but keep in mind: if an item or part looks flimsy and cheap it probably is.
There are some interesting products in your video. Mostly I want to ask about the rain mittens. What size would you buy if you are wearing M fleece gloves? I wanted a pair of waterproof mittens for my fleece gloves because the only other alternative I have found is from vallerret and they cost 70€.
I own a couple pieces of their gear, the quarter zip fleece pullover paid 13 dollars and the synthetic filled jacket paid 35 dollars. Both are good solid pieces of gear.
Hi! Question for you. I bought a Decathlon rain jacket (Caperlan900), on the Decathlon website, which is advertised at having a waterproof rating of 25000mm. when I received the jacket, I saw that on the storm flap, it's written 15000mm. any thoughts?
Decathlon stuff is junk. I bought a jacket wore it one day and the zipper broke. I contacted customer service and they won't return the jacket because it was worn. Stuff is absolute junk.
Thank you for reaching out! I'm very sorry to hear that the jacket did not work out for you!
Used items (even lightly), dirty items, or items that were damaged due to improper handling/use will not be accepted as a return. I'm very sorry for the frustration!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Julia S.
I picked up the MT900 but Ill have to look into that Simond.
Hi Justin, there is a softshell from decathlon you might find interesting to try, its the forclaz mt900 merino softshell.
Hi I’m in Europe and Decathlon IS way cheaper here, would love to ser Your full review of their backpack, I’m considering it after being discourage from the Osprey Exos from your video. Also you should check out their mes MT900 pad which supposedly 5.4 R value for like $130 here in Europe
Hello! I can seem to find the sleeping bag in stock. Is it discontinued?
I got the MT100 and its for me never warm enough to sit longer at 5 degrees Celsius, maybe with sun, no wind and low moisture in a perfect day. In reality perfekt for the camp above 10 degrees Celsius . If you are on the trail 5 degrees Celsius is not a problem. But all together its perfect for summer. But maybee is the downfilling in us different. In Europe has an XL MT100 93grams of downfill. I saw some videos from the us, where there spoke from over 100? Your blue Jacket looks also it could be a little more puffy than my MT100 in dark blue with 93g in XL.
There is also similar Jacket to the MT500Jacket from Simond Decathlon avaiable. It feels a little more durable, better hood and looks more like outdoors than the MT500. But the MT500 looks better in a casual wear for everyday use. I think they have the same temperature Rating. Booth a perfect spring/autum Jackets.
Justin how do order that down parka if you live in the states? Decathalon uk does not shop to the states!
I'm looking for a jacket that fits in the 20degree-40degree F but hate the look of the down jackets do you have any recommendations??
I got the MT100 down jacket from Decathlon UK and am impressed with the quality and price, especially as it was RDS certified
I got one in Ireland here and it's my favourite jacket. I find myself reaching for this above my more expensive down jacketa
Thank you so much for this! Wow.
Ummm… when do we get to hear about that tent?
I wish you would review more MEC stuff, its a great retailer and not many big Canadian outdoor creators on here to do it!
Reminds me of Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC) products in its early days.
You mentioned setting a notification for the price drops. How do you do that? How does that backpack compare to the rei flash 55? I'm in need of a pack for my teen son.
Great information
Question regarding the stated temp rating of the down jackets. Does that take into account proper base layering, or if you had just a basic cotton tshirt under it?
Brother… I have been waiting soooooo long for you, YOU SPECIFICALLY, to show off Decathlon.
Justin, bro… I really, really hope you keep advocating Decathlon to Canada and US.
No one… No one is taking about them.
The MT100 is regularly on sale for 50-60€
Our store currently has some on clearance for 40€
Can barely get any of that gear in the US right now 😢
Decathlon = fantastic value for your money
The simond jacket seems to be a non-US item? There may be a Canadian bias here since Canada has decathlon stores and the US does not.
It's probably more of a European bias since Europe has a way better selection of Decathlon items (Decathlon is a French company).
@JustinOutdoors agree, I'm seeing if buying items from UK is possible. Import duty may make it unreasonable.
There website does not give sleeve length for the jackets. I have 36"/37" arms.
a bunch of the links are broken
A point to the sleeping bag, 0 deg C is the comfort. I sleep in it well below freezing without issues.
Also mt900 flat tarp is awesome. 350g 9x7 tarp with ul stakes, guy lines and sack for 500g... It went with me through hailstorms, snow, downpours and really outdid itself.
Link to waterproof shell overglove (over mitts) not working and cannot find them searching Decathlon site. Are they still available?
Other than that, great video for good budget gear. Keep up the good work.
I'm guessing you're in the US? US doesn't stock the overgloves anymore :(
Yes to "in the US". Thanks for the reply.@@JustinOutdoors
Boo
Have you used any of the Decathlon sleeping pads? The mt500 air insulator looks pretty good 🤔
Hey, I've used it and it's quite good, lowest temperature outside was 3°C and it did a great job
Silicone pads really work to keep your sleeping bag on the pad
Be carefull of the size there are L and XL and 2 XL don't fit in all tents
The storage stuff sac is also made to inflate the pad (no moisture inside insulation) I would therefore recommand to keep it inside the backpack (not attatched outside) because I fell on my back and it was ripped by rocks then useless to inflate...
@@alessandradetable4508 Thank you 😊 🙏
I met this chick one time who wore these neon jumpsuits. Said she was on the AT. Julia Andrews.
Squat the planet.
Would the MT900 UL Pack waist belt fit my nephew who wears a 3x? anyone have any good suggestions so I can get him a pack that fits well and comfortable looking for a 50-60 liter pack.
this is a super video
Interesting gear ❄️👍
Why didn’t you talk about the tent?
I need a feedback Of this backpack
I followed your links, but they bring me to European pricing. How come the Overgloves aren't sold on the US site?
They used to be....
D: please open a phonics store in Japan!
There is a market need for your products. Just make sure the advertising is good.
European here, the prices are great, but from my experience the really cheap stuff has flaws.
In clothing thats mainly weak seams or weird material behavior (staining easily from just normal stuff) and with battery powered stuff the integrated batteries lost capacity potential to aprox 70% after small time (half a year or so) and then stayed at that for quite long time and just plummeted. Their drybag just sprung a hole in seam after a year and 3 uses 😅
I love them dearly but i wouldn't take get from them anything that i depend on 100% and take it to situation where i have to just depend on it (avalanche beeper in high Alps, any battery powered shiz in freezing temps, drybag to put anything really valuable in, etc).
If it is cheaper and from decathlon its just economy of scale and vigorous cost cutting. If they find a right balance then its epic, but when they go to far you get really bonkers shitty stuff 😅
Curious, I don't think the UK site for the products in your links ships to the US. Their US store doesn't have half of the items you mentioned.
Ya, I don't think UK ships to the US. Europe has a lot of great Decathlon stuff that the US doesn't. Canada has a bit more than the US but is still missing some items.
@@JustinOutdoors ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Any time I’m in Europe I bee line to the nearest Decathlon where the prices are even cheaper.
The sleeping bag you put in the description is that no longer on their website?
Should be fixed for US and Canada now (UK and Germany were good)
A few of your links go to a broken page
What about that tent?
I need to test it out more before I can comment
A sleeping bag just down to 0°c/32°f even at the summer where I live thats a really bad sleeping bag
Even if the price was the same MT100 is still better than the $400 Ghost Whisperer jacket
