It's a laptop with a good design and underskin hardware that's almost completely undone by terrible software. The Gigabyte Control Center (GCC) is probably the worst I've used on any laptop. It makes Asus Armoury Crate and Razer Synapse look like they were coded on stone tablets and handed down from the Almighty.
got this one about 2 weeks ago cuz my desktop died a while ago and im on the go very often so i figured, why not try out the laptop world. all i can say is that im super happy and blown away by the performance. i can play every game i wanna play, i can edit videos and blender runs smooth with no issues. render time is even lower than i was used to. 30-50 sec per frame on my desktop. 4-7 sec on this laptop (same project) and every other laptop i compared it to looked overpriced or not the right fit. more money worse specs or less money and even worse specs. only 1 other model came close but only had one 1tb m2 instead of the two 1tb m2 that are in this one. and it costs 20$ more keyboards ugly tho

Yes 2023 models are where the value is at, same Nvidia RTX generation and there is very uplift in games for the 14th gen Intel chips. $1400 is a steal for that spec and a great screen for twitch shooters. I would personally prefer a QHD display as twitch shooters are not my forte 😃
I had the choice between this with 32 gb of ram the i9 14900hx and rtx4070 for 1935 euro and legion slim 5 for 1299 euro with i7 13700H , 16gb ram and rtx 4070. I bought the legion one and damn im super satisfied didn't really see the price difference was worth it maybe if it had a 4080.
I went with the Strix G16 with the 4070 and 13980HX but idk if I made the right decision since I was looking at a g16x also with a 4070 but a 13650hx. The Aorus had 32gb of ram and a 2560x1600 res screen. Strix is only 1920x1200. EDIT: Cancelled my Strix and got the Aorus 16x 2024 model with the 4070 and 14900HX 😊
just realize, this laptop's display is only one ips panel with dolby vision and hdr support other 500 nit ips display like Predator Helios neo 16 doesn't have
On Amazon its $1699 right now I REALLY want to pull the trigger to replace my Acer predator triton 500SE (11th gen i7, 3060) and this laptop is better or equal to that one in every way besides the build quality. Im happy the trackpad is glass but idk about a plastic chassis... its not a deal breaker because the price is insane but still
Gpu fluctuation is bad. Clocks jumping from 1.9k to 2.6k Ghz. Also...how can you say sound is bad on this one. Did you really hear it properly during music, movies? Its got very clear and bassy speakers and ive checked them face to face to other 5 gaming laptops of this years. These speakers were one of the best. And also, comparing this laptop to legion 5 pro...seriously? Legion doesnt achieve even half of the quality that the gigabyte 16x provides (keyboard, display, sound, performance optimization, cooling efficiency, case sturdiness and material, touchpad etc.). Overall, i agree that gigabyte has a few downsides, but on some points I seriously could not agree with you at all...
Ya, they are trying to offer more this year for a good price. I like the direction they are going in. They obviously can't compete with ASUS/Lenovo so giving more for less is the way to go.
There are four model/versions for the 16X, the 'ASG' and 'AKG' are the ones with 14th gen cpu. It is the '9SG and 9KG' versions that come with 13th gen cpus, The S models use RTX 4070 while the K versions are RTX 4060.

gigabyte Aorus has an outstanding air-cooling system with low noise output, which is lacking among the Predator by Acer. Asus is the third and MSI is the worst(if people disregard size matters and cooling solutions of laptops) All brands have a high-end line but Aorus barely provides wide choices, the most for MSI, and Acer Asus on pair to each other.
Why are the laptop manufacturers doubling down on the absolute worst GPU in 2024, the 4070. It's overpriced garbage. Not worth it over a full wattage 4060 and handicapped by the same 8GB of VRAM. Seriously, either save $500 and get a 4060 laptop or save up another $500 and get a 4080 laptop. Just don't waste your cash on a 4070 one,
Remember when Aorus used to be the premium line for gigabyte? 💩 This is a complete joke for that listed price of $1949. For $50 more you can get a 10x better zephyrus G16 with OLED, significantly better speakers, non-potato camera, unibody aluminum build, better port placement (not shoved to the front), and twice the battery life. It's also thinner and lighter. I'm like wtf are they thinking. If this was $1200 msrp I could maybe understand. You constantly see these all plastic， budget gaming laptops for $900 on sale. I also really hate the gigabyte hinge design. It always looks like it will snap in five seconds, and it is never flush with the body. The only thing going for this laptop is it's relatively compact design. You can already buy an aprus 17H or helios 16 with an rtx 4080 for less.
I have the new g16 oled and a 2023 Aorus 17. The Aorus feels higher quality and doesn't run nearly as hot. Also the g16 has soldered ram 🤣 slim gaming laptops are for the smoothest of smoothbrains.
I will say all I've ever seen of Gigabyte laptops on Amazon/Best Buy atleast, is very negative reviews explaining all sorts of QC/Hardware issues. I wouldn't trust buying any Gigabyte stuff lol, it's very rare to see anyone give a good review about one. They definitely seem to have some very bad QC, I get it's cheaper than most the competition but you're paying for a coin flip at that point.

I found a way better deal on the 2023 Aorus 17H. Has an i7 13700H; 32GB DDR5 5200, RTX 4080 150W, and a 1080p 360Hz screen. FOR $1400!!!

Is this affected with the intel stuff for 13th and 14th gen? Or that only affects desktop processors?
Can you replace the included SSD with one that's faster and has higher data capacity? As well as clone the original SSD?

Thats only on Turbo mode which most laptops let you do. No one puts the fans on turbo mode. 55db under load is more realistic.
