- Following the defeat of the EU army in Europe, the stage was set for the PAC military to force its way into the EU-occupied African mainland. In February 2142, the EU formed The Mediterranean Wall, a line of defenses along the North African coast from Morocco to Egypt.

Note: The specific details of the battles themselves are just my opinion since battles in a multiplayer game play out differently every time. However, the canonical victors of the battle can (most of the time) be determined by the information given during the loading screens for each map.

I wish 2042 would've had the walkers in game aswell. They always reminded me of the GDI titans from Tib Sun.
I think that 2142 would be a perfect game to have a total conversion mod based on Tiberian Sun, I mean you have the walkers for things like the Titans, hover vehicles for the Hover MLRS, VTOLs for the Orca lineup, etc.
I always misnamed the walkers as titans xD
Eh, no, I don't think so. 2042 as a date is too close now and most people would feel it being immersion breaking. Conflicts in the upcoming years would be mostly fought with de facto insurgency level tactics and equipment with small elite regiments having actually modern equipment. The equipment costs became too high, unless we would see fully robotic workforce OR matter conversion technology BOTH of which are present in Tiberium universe, we won't see military walkers any time soon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@TheArklyte "Conflicts in the upcoming years would be mostly fought with de facto insurgency level tactics and equipment with small elite regiments having actually modern equipment."
Ahh, someone appreciates Nod's combat doctrine I see?
You can, in fact, drive a car into the central camp complex far enough to capture the flag. Good luck getting it out though
If EA wants to save battlefield, DICE should make a new game in THIS universe. Not another modern warfare, not another ww2.
For several reasons. 1. Unique setting. 2. Complete creator freedom in creating factions/weapons because its entirely fictional. 3. New vehicle types like anti-grav tanks, Mechs. 4. Titan mode.
However Classes have to return. Aswel as the return of weapons set per faction. BF 2142 however, allowed you to unlock the OTHER faction's their weapons at the end of the tech tree.
No high special mobility OpErAtOR. Nothing call of duty. No cringe voice lines like they are from a superhero movie.
Well with the success of Dead Space Remake, hopefully EA will finally realize that these older games are worth taking a gamble in.
Good news for battlefield 2042 it seems like there hitting the hell out of 2142 like constantly like there talking about what happens a and how the ice just happened
They hit it a lot that and they fucking hit the mechs the rail gun tech and how the earths getting colder
The also not that bad now it’s pretty good now
To me they started making the game far far too call of duty + respawn & Vehicles. Now they say they cannot compete with COD na da they made it a COD rip off.
There are a number of key things that need to happen in my mind.
1, Bring back fog of war. They render the entire map this promotes camping styles (sniper sitting on highest tower anyone?) and discourages people actively moving from point to point. In BF2 and 3 this really shows with AA guns, Tanks and helo's just shooting from long range.
2, Slow down kill times. This is a big one for me, one shot kills need to go. Headshots should be the only location a one-shot kill can happen. There needs to be a reasonable chance for the assaulting team to push.
3, Speed up Rev times, remove animation and black screen it should be instant back in the fight
4, Reduce foliage, its a combat game, camouflage (eg sitting in bushes) gives to much advantage for the defenders. I have no problem with active camo of BF2142 in fact I liked that it was a trade off in that you didn't have a weapon out.
5, The Clip system needs to come back. This reloading every bullet is COD not BF. You can reload 4 times and then your out of ammo, until you resupply.
6, Classes, These need to come back do not give the explosives guy the infinite ammo.
Heck, how about a battlefield on entire different world to create to new world like how Gear of wars is on a different planet. Create new landscape and sencery and new fraction then obvious state in of west vs east fraction.
Battlefield 2143 and 2144 or 2145? lol
Funny Shuhia Taiba means Good Apatite in Arabic that reminds me of Bon Appetit in French. Nice multi-culture exchange right there :D
Again, another great video. Glad to see BF2142 being covered this game really deserves it :) Thanks alot Jethild.
thank you for bringing attention to this underrated gem! odd how a game without any campaigns or story mode has a better and much more detailed story than games today
I am really glad to see more content around 2142. This game had such an interesting premise and great potential for expanding the lore with new factions and Theatres. IIRC this game didn't even touch what sort of chaos could be going on in the Americas.
The interesting setting, simple yet Intuitive gunplay, cool new mechanics and of course Titan Mode made this game my favorite BF game of all time. Event today I have a blast playing it with friends.
So glad to see this Game getting some love again. While it was not my favorite to play back in the day, it was the most interesting for me asthetics wise.
Maybe one day we could get a BF 2142 RTS game.
You can in fact fit a car into central camp of camp Gibraltar far enough to capture the base.
I'm really amazed how EA managed to fuck up the new BF so bad, people keep telling me that"the gameplay is fixed" but are missing the mainpoint..the core BF experience is entirely gone. LIke all of the other BF made sense in that you were just a person locked in a war, even BF1 excelled at that. I really do miss these old games and being an old I remember going to buy the disk back in the day, had some of the best times online using trello lol. Glad the community is keeping this alive. Hey Jethlid, have you heard of the Battlefield like game for Command and Conqure called Renegade Reloaded..made by the community?? it's pretty good.
I have had quite some fun with the new BF but I agree: to a big degree, the core of what BF stands for as a franchise is still missing in BF2042.
A few mechanics could be kept long term in my opinion but its still a disappointement. Especially considering that they could have given us a true prequel to or remastered of BF2142.
Its surprising how the renegade community is still going. So much so there is appetite for something like Renegade X.
you mean renegade x lol
Oh boy...
Wake Island just can't catch a break from war, can it?...
Yep .
EU hold their ground in Northern Africa. Now the time for counter attack. Can't wait to watch the EU vs. PAC "Round 2" in Europe... and the fight over specific, "the most famous" island that has seen warfare and conflict for centuries.
Thank you for this video Jethild!
The most unbelievable geopolitical aspect of this game’s story is the EU and Union of African states being close allies and despite getting completely kicked out of there home territory the EU is capable of beating back the PAC which is made up of almost every country in Asia including Japan, Russia, China, India, Iran etc.
Could imagine a sequel game and having a map called the titan graveyard or titan cemetery.
I'm looking forward to that Pacific battle. Always love this game.
Wish you were able to still play this game
Always liked this style of equipment and vehicles. Be it BF2142, Tiberium Dawn, Dune game series, Homeworld or even parts of Battletech... before GW ruined it with their Tau:(
Great video as usual. Can't wait for Northern Strike video
Never thought that he would do a commentary of Battlefield 2142.
Awesome as always.
Shuhia Taiba has such a good design both gameplay wise and lore wise (20 TITANS)
Man, EA made Weird but enjoyable stuff a decade ago
Any plans to maybe do a overview of BF3 that would be awesome: nevertheless love your content
Thanks for the parts 2
shuhia taiba is an alteration of shahia taiba which means bonne appetite in arabic and sidi powerplant is master (my master) powerplant lol
i really wanted this game to have a story mode,
ok that's weird because the translation of shuhia taiba in arabic is bon apetit or Enjoy your meal XD
I love this game and I love this video
I don't normally buy BF games these days, but if EA made a new BF in this setting, I'd buy.
Man this makes me yearn so much to play it again...
I just want a new battlefield 2142 that is either the exact same game made in a newer engine such as UE5, or a spiritual successor that directly follow the events pre- or post 2142 game and enhances the game with modern technology to allow for different scales of battles and potentially make the gameplay loop even deeper so it's engaging.
Now why not just revive 2142 the way it was?
Well, the engine and netcode it runs on just has too much jank, and the visuals effects in my opinion have aged not too well.
the art design however is still solid and I don't want anything on it changed but I would like to see 3D assets have more details, higher texture resolution, and 3D model polycount increase.
and also support for modern systems so it can run all the latest resolutions, framerates and shader API support.
now I'm affraid this will remain a pipe dream. Obviously I have no faith in EA nor DICE to make this game like I described it without it being an absolute microtransactions grindfest,
most likely releasing in a broken, unfinished state as is always the case with every BF release, which in that case I rather not have it.
EA pulled the plug on 2142 their master server and it really did not deserve to die that way.
Sure there's still reclamation but what's the point if there's one populated server that never seems to reach more than 20 out of the 64 player capacity?
So the 3rd part will be about the Northern Strike.
the graphics are still visually pleasing to look at.
I got the greatest idea dude and please this is a request But you do have more videos on the battlefield 3 and 4 and battlefield 2042 There's a lot extensive information on them and those conflicts is set for battlefield 2042 see that the Lord and that Completed
Can't wait to see you make more videos and various battles in other areas in battlefield 2142 or 2143 now It's New Year in the uh I'm going more in the battlefield universe
@Jethild their is a new RTS game called tempest rising it’s a lot like command and conquer
Nice
This game need remaster.
It would probably be a live service game unfortunately...
Any plans to do the EU campaign as well?
Finally~
First
Pretty good story.
It’s ok. The most unbelievable geopolitical aspect of this game’s story is the EU and Union of African states being close allies and despite getting completely kicked out of there home territory the EU is capable of beating back the PAC which is made up of almost every country in Asia including Japan, Russia, China, India, Iran etc.
I wish 2042 could be remade
Well well well how the turntables when EU is taking refuge in Africa LOL

I did not remembered that EU lost so much.
they lost the whole Continent , there was a counter attak from the EU after the PAC failed to invade Africa ( Nothern Strike ) But there was never stated a Winner it escalatet only more and the fight expand on other parts of the world
@@stefanbre4139 Imo I feel like the eu would of retaken parts located around the Mediterranean while the PAC would hold on to the rest of eroupe. I mean if it's freezing it's not like the EU would bother to advance any more than it needs to.
Right? It seemed a little bit predictable what was gonna happen every battle in the first part.
