wow i was in another world watching this
This game has so many beautiful messages and parallels to our world! At first we are led to believe the great white shark is evil when it destroys the drone. Later on we learn that the shark's home is being threatened by the pyramid and is otherwise a peaceful being. Many people in the real world wrongfully think of sharks as savage monsters but they are no more monsters than humans are. Most, if not all, shark attacks are caused by human error. Humans getting too close, humans swimming in their natural habitat, etc. Abzu teaches us that it is possible to coexist with these animals, that they are not to be feared but respected. The ancient civilization in the game also supports this idea and teaches us that it is possible for surface dwellers to coexist with the the ocean and its inhabitants and for both worlds to flourish. Lastly the revelation that the Diver and the pyramid are related teaches us that even though our species has done damage to the ocean we still have the power to change and help make a difference. Such a good game, right up there with Flower and Journey.

Thanks for this beautiful and artful playthrough of such a gorgeous game. The first two playthroughs I started had so much commentary over them that I couldn't hear the music (Which is just so amazing). Thumbs up from me.
So, here are my thoughts. The basis of the game is about how we are harming and killing aquatic life. The actual game play though is the little scuba guy is trying to preserve endangered species by creating a world (that magic pool he dives into) and spawning the species into that world so they can live happy in a place where man made objects and human interaction is nil, therefore being able to mate, breed etc and save their species. Thats just the way I saw it though. I suppose that's the magic of this game, you can draw your own conclusions as to what the game was about. either way it was beautiful and such a relaxing video. Thanks for uploading!

The part with the huge whales is overwhelming.
I know right?! My friend always tells me how she's terrified of whales, but I just sat there in awe and imagined the little scuba diver laughing when the whales were doing their barrel rolls. That's one of my favorite parts.

The game is beautiful, but i completed whole story in just an hour, man that was fast, didnt knewed it will last this much. I waited for it to be cracked since it was released. But my personal thought about this game-game has awesome graphics good storyline and all tht but its too short. 😉😄

Yes, it has a plot, and you'll understand that plot better by looking at the hieroglyphs on the walls. It's also helpful to be familiar with the ancient Sumerian account of creation (the game kind of merges the Biblical account of creation with that of the Sumerian account). But like Journey, the story is abstract, leaving many elements open to interpretation.

Is ABZU equivalent to Journey (remastered)? Visually? Yes. Emotionally? No - Journey still holds the crown in that area. Nevertheless, ABZU is the most grossly underappreciated video game in the past decade. It meets all the criteria of a gaming masterpiece, and deserves a place of recognition alongside Journey.
Uriah Light I prefer Abzu over Journey. Mainly because it is set underwater

"Abzu" = "distant water" in Sumerian, also a religious revivng rite, the origin of life
"Ab" = both "water" and "semen" in Sumerian, note this double meaning
So in this videogame:
Murals with men pouring water/semen and women harvesting grain = human reproduction
Diver = a woman with some infertility problem struggling to get pregnant
Recurrent dream where the diver gives a sphere from herself and life comes up = unfulfilled dream of conception
Shark = male sexual partner of the woman
Reviving the shark = noticing that conception is a journey to be done together, reviving her partner's confidence
Triangles everywhere (gates, on her suit, etc) = diver's uterus
Making life grow from machine-like triangles at the end = conception
Blue spheres = diver's ovules
Explosive mines = diver's infertility problem (e.g. cyst, endometriosis, etc)
Machines = the diver sees herself as a lifeless broken machine due to her infertility problem
Small robots going with you (& going down when you cross a triangular gate) = menstruation cycle (& cycle's end)
activating things in pairs in all puzzles = activating both ovaries
blue and pink colours in second chapter = children
traversing caves = ask Freud
swimming in a liquid current with millions of fishes = so explicit
riding big fishes = so explicit again

I completed it as well, but it took me 2 hours... cause it's so fucking beautiful. Definetely one of the best games i've ever played. I feel kinda bad for refunding it, but it's just too short :P
