"Garden it up" - yes!! That is the right word for it, I always felt guilty that I was moving things around so much & adjusting, but now I will think of it as gardening it up! Also never knew that about echinacea purpurea! What a great conversation, I ate this up!
I think moving things around the garden is one of the most fun activities we can do as gardeners! Especially when a plant is languishing, moving it to a different spot for another chance before consigning it to the compost pile is often worthwhile.
I watched this video in the morning and then in the afternoon I visited my local nursery. When I was looking through the clearance section I happened upon a geranium Orion! I thought it looked very interesting in the video, but I never thought I would be able to find one so quickly.
The way Ray described how the plants converse: “if you bloom, I’ll hide your bad foliage” warmed my heart. And, we are constant interns, continuously learning. Two of the many poetic reasons many of us are entranced by gardening. ❤
Watching this video was a wonderful way to start the day. Absolutely loved your conversation with Roy - he is a treasure! Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden Erin!
I love the advice to stage your plantings in a flowerbed. Sometimes you just avoid plants that are invasive or aggressive but letting the other plants mature and grow out before you do it is a nice way to add in the ones you want.
Wow! I wish I knew a Roy Diblik nearby - so knowledgable and calm. Your garden is lovely and I liked the suggestions he gave to enhance certain areas. This was a most enjoyable video.
Best lesson ever to have aggressive plants added after the nearby plants have a foothold. Wish I knew that before I put an anemone in. But lesson learned. I love that you can just keep learning more and more every year. Fun to listen to you sharing thoughts!
Such an inspiring video. I can see how fun it would be to have conversations with Roy! He is very wise and knowledgeable,, yet so real. I was just kicking myself for moving so many plants, then felt affirmed by Roy,, when he said, "we move plants because we love to garden." Great info on so many plants!
Erin loved your talk at Northwind!! You and Roy are my two fav gardeners!! Thanks for helping me grow as a gardener and also in plant knowledge 🙋🏻♀️🫶🏻🌿🌼
Fun video. Really Love the stationary shot showing the whole garden with you and Roy with the gardening talk. Beautiful shots of the layers and colors that draw the eye back into the distance. Loved it. Felt like I was along for the ride in a master class that I got to sit in on.
Love how Roy and you share incredible gardening information. Such an enjoyable listening to the flow of conversation. I felt like I was standing there. A beautiful video!
❤️the video!! Please tell Roy he needs to ship stuff! I am in NW Tennessee. No one here has any of these plants… never even heard of them. I can’t even find the seeds to grow most of it. I have been digging up native grasses from our farm & putting them in my under construction prarie🤣 wish I knew what they are. Thanks for your videos! So inspiring!!
I also have ‘White Swan’ in a partial shade situation and they do much better than the purple standard does in the sun. The white blooms in semi-shade are so bright and they always catch my eye. I’m working on spreading it all around the garden to tie things together.
I’d love to see you add some kind of seating where yall were standing. Do you have two bridges? I’d play off the bridges where the water gushes through… start with a ground cover that looks like water going from bridge to bridge and beyond. Add drifts of plants along that. Evergreen perennials are always my favorites. If you had a handrail on the bridges you could do vines too. Loving how lush it’s all getting!
Love your conversations with Roy! I try to memorize the different plants and carexes that will make my garden appear natural. Love the update on this space, thank you.
I enjoyed the laid back rhythm of this episode. It allowed me to really see the garden as a whole. I kept looking for the color orange. Might I suggest an orange day lily for a sense of wonder? And when it's not blooming it's leaves just look like marvelous grass crowns. Just thinking...
Would you talk sometime about hybrids, please? I'm under the impression they are just showier or heartier and not necessarily good for pollinators, for example, than heirloom varieties so I tend to avoid hybrids, although I suppose it depends on the plant. What are the pros and cons of hybrids, and are there types of hybrids that are better than others?
Putting it politely, I'm afraid this new garden is not quite so much to my personal taste compared to the other areas. But perhaps as it develops I will be persuaded otherwise.
I certainly hope you’re not judging a garden planted for four seasons on on glimpse when nothing is blooming one year after it’s planted. But even if you are, that’s OK. Not everyone loves every garden. The only person who needs to love the garden is the gardener.
I love seeing how this looks after one year. I’m looking so forward to watching his it evolves over the next 2-3 more years. I love the images of the mature Goldtau and the limonium. I so want to grow those plants and many of the plants in this new garden. My plant addiction is going wild. I remind myself to buy more seeds. 🌿🌸🌻🪻
Erin, your talk at Northwind was outstanding! Great things happen when you and Roy get together in your garden and at his farm.
I love the truth of “it lived”. That is my definition of success in zone 3. 🤓❤️

"Sharing is cool." To me that's the best message from Roy. Your garden is beautiful, Erin.
Always good advice from Roy, I could listen to him all day giving us all the knowledge he has with in.
Great to see spring the new garden and share in your chat with Roy! Felt like I was walking about with my best garden buddies!❤
I love this series so much! I'm excited to see how this planting matures in the seasons to come.
What a wealth of knowledge Mr. Diblik has! Thanks for having him on.
We will need to make Roy's visits an annual event! I don't think he will ever run out of knowledge and tips.
Love Roy! He is so smart!
The way Ray described how the plants converse: “if you bloom, I’ll hide your bad foliage” warmed my heart. And, we are constant interns, continuously learning. Two of the many poetic reasons many of us are entranced by gardening. ❤
Good morning, Erin. Nice to have Roy back! He is a wealth of information.

How lovely to have Roy! We need more Roys in the world.💖
Wow! I could listen all day!
I love listening to you and Roy! The story of plants, Roy talking about plants like they’re people. Lovely.

I could listen to Roy for hours.

Erin loved your talk at Northwind!! You and Roy are my two fav gardeners!! Thanks for helping me grow as a gardener and also in plant knowledge 🙋🏻♀️🫶🏻🌿🌼
I love the chat with you both talking about things to add and things you love in this garden. What a beautiful and lush area, for a young garden! :)
What an absolute joy to sit back and just be a butterfly in your garden with your guest, quietly eavesdropping on your plant selections. 🦋 🦋 💚
Isn’t Roy the best?! Just love you two talking plants!
Fun video.

Love your conversations with Roy! I try to memorize the different plants and carexes that will make my garden appear natural. Love the update on this space, thank you.
Erin and Roy thanks for sharing! Love it and it so fun to get an update on this garden and the design.
I learned many things, but hearing about different echinaceas was the most helpful for me. Thank you both!
So interesting. Many thanks to you both!
Thank you for sharing the collaboration and follow up conversation. I will be interested in seeing the 2nd year as it flushes out a bit.
Loved this. I garden in zone 4 Colorado, but still learned so much to apply to my gardens.
always love a visit with roy! his conversation about echinacea was super informative and enlightening. so great to learn from him
Your garden looks great. I love Roy's perspective on pairing plants and how they 'interact' with one another .
Loved this video! Want to go to Roy’s and your gardens!!!!!
Great duo of gardeners!
Very wise. Great video!
Great video!! I so enjoyed it. Well done. I found it very relaxing with lots of great information. Thank you, Roy!!
Don't think I realized the limonium it's so pretty! Definitely gonna try adding some to my garden

I agree, but then again I sneak daylilies into all of my garden beds! Love the different varieties of bloom and season of bloom.
Your Wisconsin accent really came across in this episode. Love it! 😄
I noticed that too. 🤣
P.s. enjoyed your talk from Northwind too

thanks!
A+
Wow he is soooooo intresting!! Does his nursery ship??
“It’s alive.”...Well, that’s the end of our show thanks for tuning in...

Great idea to add more aggressive plants in later stages after more "mannered" plants get established.
Where can I find a list of plants that he recommended? I am in Zone 6a Michigan. Thanks.
I didn't get the name of the "scotch" plant that you had but in the garden. You you tell me what it is, please?
I can’t believe you still have daffodils.
What day was this filmed?
The Sedge Matrix
As a former Minnesotan and Wisconsinite, I say what accent?
