lol the xr1200 is a heavy lugging belt driven turd compared to the FTRhp: 120 vs 90torque: 85 vs 73weight: 485 vs 551

Test rode the FTR, and an XR at a later date.
The XR is now sitting in my garage. It's just a much more emotionally stirring machine, and has a better feel. It is simply a "special" bike. Tbh, the FTR just felt like a crappier version of Yamaha's XSR900 (which in itself is an awesome bike.)

So you made a video of why not buying a motorcycle is a good idea before you ever saw it, or rode it? Makes sense, I followed you into that rabbit hole thinking you had information, but I own an FTR1200S and this bike is so amazing I literally don't want to get off of it.

I am just stating that the XR is just as fun for less... and you won't lose money on it. Seems like a no-brainer to me. I am sure the Indian is incredibly fun. It sure looks incredible.

I use to race a xr750 Harley-Davidson and I built a sportster street tracker but buddy when I road demo the FTR 1200 I went out and bought it just can’t get off it I’ve never so much fun riding a street bike and I can’t explain what it is just a blast to ride

I too am/was toying with the, sell my XR to get an FTR. However, I’m enamored with my XR and I’ve put so much into it. Two brothers exhaust, piggy back suspension in the rear and fully adjustable front end, braided lines, all LED lights etc. if Harley would update the XR they would be neck/neck with the FTR but they are busy with bs projects like the Bronx? I too have a channel and have viddys on the XR and I’d love for you to check it out! Ride safe!

I have an 09 XR1200, and I was looking into an FTR, but the price is just to high for me right now, I am also banking on my XR to go up in value, but thank you for making this Video, I share your thoughts.

I appreciate it! I am glad others have the same thought process. The Indian is extremely cool, but just not worth the money! Before I bought my XR, the dealership showed me that they have been tracking the value, and it has gone up by over $1000 in the past year alone. I am fairly certain it is going to keep going up, and even faster now that the FTR is out. People will want a cheaper Flat Tracker option, and the XR is the only one.

Revvin the 417 so funny hearing people saying what something is worth considering the fact you can’t afford one. The xr is not in the same league as the ftr hence why Harley hasn’t won jack shit in flat track since the ftr hit the circuit.

Agree totally about how much you should pay for a motorcycle. I went and checked out the new street bob 114 and they wanted 17k for it🤦🏻‍♂️?? Whatever! Not from me. I mean, if someone wants to pay 17k for a street bob that’s their business but I’m not. I just can’t see paying as much for a new Harley as I do for my car. No thanks.

I don't understand why parts are pricey for the XR, seeing how it's a sportster.

The power is lower because the engine stroke is for torque. I doubt your bike has 90 Hp I have a 1200s that came with a better set of cams out of the factory and it only puts out about 70hp and 75 torque. The engine screams above 4000 Rpm but it is unbalanced. No linear power.

the xr1200 is pretty much the same thing as the ftr1200? my man the DOHC 1200 in that bike is so far removed from your ancient pushrod 1200 that i think the only thing that can convince you of that is when you race one in the streets. Yours going to get gapped, as though you were driving a civic.

if you want to learn the same lesson but in a way a brand fanboy can accept find a vrod and get spanked

ps my dad, a long time HD rider and one time vrod owner says; "sportsters are for girls"

Obviously I wasn't stating that they are the same tech and engine wise. I state many times that the Harley is a ten year old bike with ten year old design. Plus a Harley design is even less modern. What I mean, to anyone who has basic cognition, is that they are the same style bike... Flat Tracker. I also state how much more power and how much faster the FTR is, did you even watch? Anyhow, I don't know why you are stressing a DOHC so much.

I am in no way a brand fanboy. I like two Harley models, and hate pretty much everything else. I don't even like them as a company or their brand image.

Everyone who rides big, ugly Harley Davidson models say that. It can be easily argued that the sportster is the best Harley. Also, why would I care what your father says?

Value on the XR1200 will go up when HD closes it's doors.

the xr1200 is UGLY like super ugly. Fantastic bike I own it's watered down version, the roadster. But the FTR is a way way better motorcycle overall. They're really not the same category or even aimed at the same rider. I actually grew out of my Roadster pretty much immediately you are not going to get the HD 1200 anywhere near the performance of the FTR for under $7-8000. If you do go ahead and put on the cams, heads, and 1275 kit on the Harley then you'll be CLOSE to the performance but you're not gonna beat it, ever. Seems like you're experiencing what's called the endowment effect. The Uh Crop Oh Vitch ruclips.net/video/KpezLupIFGQ/видео.html exhaust sounds fantastic once you add the head pipe but nowhere as good as most exhausts on any harley. Also where's the comparison? this is just you riding around talking, you could of done this sitting in your garage. I picked the Harley for the same reason it seems like you like it, to look cool. It's a shit motorcycle, just admit it. You can get a way way better bike for way less money. It's HEAVY it's underpowered, it gets hot as hell, it leaks. It doesn't like to turn and that's the XR1200. Now apply this to almost any other Harley and it's even worse. Plus Harley guys are basically in an infinite dick measuring contest. They get so pissed when a little sporty smokes them light to light. I honestly got my Roadster for one reason, to mod the hell out of it. and that is really the best reason to buy a harley. you can customize every single piece of it with aftermarket parts. Unfortunately thats not the case with ANY of the Indians, but the aftermarket is slowly catching up. I actually stopped by to look at a comparison. I rode the FTR it is miles ahead of any harley I've ever ridden. Also rode a clapped out used XR, it was about the same as the roadster. Anyway I'll leave with this, if you want fast handling and performance, don't buy a Harley they are none of things and probably never will be again. If you want to mod it with an unlimited amount of awesome aftermarket support buy a harley
