I have the lil duke 390 as a run around and for runs through our fantastic Mountain rds it's a great ride just a lil bit squeezy for my 6'1 frame after 3-4 hours and I'm heading home I'm ready for a big fat Harley road glide but God is yet to grant me this. I wish I could have 5 bikes to cover best uses. Thank you Ken and your team for the great content and insights.🇦🇺💪🦘🦘🦘
Berry Black thank your lucky stars you haven't bought a regular Harley yet as in a few weeks or maybe it's a couple months they are releasing the new all new lowrider s touring... And it's got the retrofit fairing from the old fxrt ... What I like about the fairing in your rear view mirror it looks like a Honda goldwing is approaching and I'm thinking no this can't be I'm doing over 120 now on my girlfriends Sturgis and then a side relief as it was an fxrt went past me shifting into 5th gear and I was already doing 120 on 465 that goes around Indianapolis as it is the real Indianapolis 500 with cops and ambulance and fire trucks .. get the lowrider s t it cost $21,749 www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/motorcycles/low-rider-st.html?source_cd=SEM_Retention_PPC&_cr=ppc|GOOGLE|Softail_Low-Rider-ST_Brand_B|Low-Rider-ST_2022|2022%20low%20rider%20st&gclid=Cj0KCQiAu62QBhC7ARIsALXijXTjYiVoLaZFeOi5I_fUR06gKORAMN1ZKxDpNEzEHP6e92daIFX9ZZMaAox-EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Had mine for 2yrs now and it's mostly stock, saddlemen seat, sat on a stock seat and it was better, orange plastic without rear seat pad, otherwise it's stock, closing in on 30k miles and still quiet as can be
The XR1200 triple tree are 1 1/2 degrees back of the rake angle of the frame..... This configuration makes them turn in faster., But there's a trade-off nobody wants because every once in awhile with the right or wrong instead of tires on the right or wrong pavement you'll start your speed wobble in about 95 mph and it never shuts off... So it was the Italians who came up with the center triple trees that are zero paralleling the steering head and you can see this on yours Kaplan if you stand off to the side and focus your eyes on the daylight between the top of the fork legs and the steering head and then just move your head forward and you'll see the light shining through disappear first at the bottom and then at the top showing that the legs are angled back compared to the steering head angle... Just scored a set of super traps 100 bucks off and free shipping and I searched in search and searched for a set of Vance and Hines doing one and two stainless steel and no results... But my super traps will be here Friday... And I'm changing out the front sprocket fully on the transmission from a 28 to a 30 tooth and the stock on the rear is a 68 tooth.... I was thinking about dropping the front sprocket to a 27 and make an unknown industries Wheeling machine out of it but I decided to give it some interstate leg room cuz it's cruising it 4,000 RPM at 70 I'd like to see that drop down to about 3500 rpm @ 70 mph... Anyways when I get recovered from the poverty of obsession... I'm looking into sellers free spirit trees with a zero rake. It will make it a little more of a challenge to the twisties but top end high speed wobbles will go away
@@miamimovies I speak from experience. I had to put a ridiculous amount of money into my Harleys engine to make it fast. And it will gap my sport bikes for about 400 feet. Then around the time the Harley clicks 5th gear the sport bike is clicking 3rd and absolutely freight trains past the Harley.
Two of the coolest road bikes ever. Dude is in a good place. Any clapped out roach rat bikes running, what's the cheapest, easiest bike that meets safety check out there for contrast?

Just found this video. I have a slightly modded 2012 XR1200X and this is exactly what I hoped to hear and see! Thank you for sharing this!
I have a stock 09 XR and this is all awesome info on what aftermarket parts to build a race bike with thank you for sharing Ken.

@rugershooter5268 I'm at 6600 miles I think it needs new engine mounts
What a story. Epic build and a one of a kind find in the pits. Great coverage.
i always loved the XR1200, great bike
Like to see it running around the track
Hey I know this guy! He was my control rider on my first day at a US track! Loved watching your interview Kevin! See you at Jennings soon 👍
Sweet! Nice to hear it run.
I just need to know what bars those are and the seat. It’s so annoying trying to find parts
No, he’s not the only one in the country racing one. People have been racing the XR here in California way before racing Harley’s was a thing.
the xr 1200 i think was the baddest looking sporster
It’s a crying shame that Harley stopped producing the XR.
I would’ve liked to seen where Harley might’ve gone with the XR design.
I got a xr1200x 09 it's a weapon

Spend $20k+ to build a road race Harley. Go to the track. Get completely outran by a stock R6 or a GSXR600. Absolutely gorgeous bike though.
Hey man, that thing is so fast it'll make your head spin
... for a Harley
