  • We have many ways help stretch in order to treat carpal tunnel with exercise in order to reduce the pressure on the median nerve. The median nerve passes made up of the carpal bones in the transverse carpal ligament which makes up the top of the tunnel. Over time especially those who engage in repetitive activities can cause swelling to develop causing a relatively narrowing that can impede the flow of the nerve past the site. Most people diagnosed carpal tunnel clinically doing the Tinel sign at the carpal tunnel where the Phalen's test
There are certain risk factors that affect the health of the nerve. Many patient's which is affected carpal tunnel by DM, Cardiovascular disease, Nerve injuries in upper limb, alcoholism can affect nerve health that make this nerve more predisposed to being pinched or compressed. Certain habitual behaviors like a high sodium diet, alcohol consumption and set excessive amounts of processed or fast food can make the nerve more susceptible to injury.
One of the lines of defense is to take over-the-counter anti-inflammatories, oral steroids or an steroid injection. Other natural ways of combating this is taking higher levels of B vitamins, adopt anti-inflammatory diet and taking natural supplements like turmeric and ginger that have been shown to limit the scar information the area.
Even before we start taking certain medications we have to look at possible repetitive activities the patient might be engaging in and how to improve the situations and allow some form of healing. These strategies include alternating use of the upper extremities, improved ergonomic set up at their workplace or computer workstation that may be making it difficult for the body to heal. We must take a look at the ergonomic set up at work and our home to set up our environments we work to be the most efficient for the body to handle to decrease potential stress on the wrist and carpal tunnel region.
As the nerve exits the cervical or neck region it may be pinched or compressed along multiple points terminating at the hand. The following stretches address the most common points that the median nerve might be compressed in addition to the carpal tunnel.
We discuss stretches for extensors of the wrist and flexors of wrist and thumb musculature and other sites that can contribute to median nerve function in the upper extremity, trunk and neck region.

I think my issues definitely come from the neck, like you said in your other videos, because I can feel some stiffness right below my right ear sometimes and also below the jaw close to that spot, and when I stretch it actually feels good it's tense and releases pressure, I do alot of gaming and just on pc all day so might not be 100% neck but I think could be a great part because of that, nice video, thanks

Thank you for the wall stretch, best one I've found so far. I think I've found that my problem is stemming from the left side of my neck.

Do you have or do you plan to make a video like this and similar to carpar tunel but focusing on ULNAR nerve? I have discomfort, losing feeling in pinky, ring finder. I had ulnar compression on left hand, strong one (muscle atrophy etc. which healed to 85% - doctor did not send me to surgery though). I have now similar (but no atrophy) feeling in right hand. It gets worse when using mouse or sitting. Feels like it improves when standing or laying down.

I feel at least very slight numbness almost constantly on my thumbs but it gets much worse temporarily when bending my elbows or wrists too far. I am really worried about getting the right treatment before these symptoms might get worse and cause nerve damage. I appreciate any advice.
How do I know if the symptoms are serious enough to need injections or surgery?
How effective are nerve glides and exercises for improving numbness?

Got CP in my left wrist. There is no way that I can bend my wrist in a normal position. Wearing a hand brace is comforting especially when lifting my kettle.
