Hey friends I see a lot of new views. Been few updates since I made this video. Campsnap 1.5 is the latest version. - More color ways - Quieter shutter - Different flash Edit #2 More creative filters coming in like black & white, vintage, & etc Edit #3 New cameras are now being shipped with the film filter I don't have examples in this video because filters didn't exist yet. I'll add on if I notice more subtle changes
And as an aside, the speaker on this camera is 100% removable. If you take it apart, the speaker can be easily removed in a non-destructive way, it just unplugs from the camera's motherboard.
As someone who is old enough to have owned cheap point-and-shoot film cameras, the inconsistency of colouring really adds to the authentic feel. If you want to take better quality photos, use your camera phone. The Camp Snap, to me, serves a single purpose and aesthetic, much like the Lomo Diana film camera.
Know this is late, I got a papershoot camera, my cousin got a campsnap. We both prefer the images from the papershoot. It’s more expensive but it has replacement battery options, a non-integrated SD card, and it also has interchangeable filter cards. I’d say get the camp snap for a kid for summer camp, the papershoot for adults
I recently got the camera. I’m impressed with it. A few annoying stuff yes. But I try not to get too involved with it because it was originally made for kids. Your work hard man.
I found similar results with my Camp Snap. A lot of photos have overblown highlights in bright conditions. But really, the only thing I would mostly complain about is the focal distance. For a camera advertised for use at summer camps for kids, I think the image should be in focus when the camera is at selfie distance, which is something kids would likely be doing with their friends at camp. That and a lanyard. But really, this was a $40 camera when I ordered it... Can't complain too much!
I'd argue the opposite - as a summer camp camera, kids shouldn't be selfie-ing but asking a friend to take the picture (or balancing it on a rock - but I guess it doesn't have a timer).
A lot of the comments I see on reviews for this thing dont seem to understand that it's meant to take "crappy" photos. It's trying to get that older 90s aesthetic you would get from a cheap walgreens disposable camera but without needing film. In the same vein why people buy those polaroids from target. It's a retro nostalgia thing
I agree with you for the most part. I'm not asking for a perfect camera, but do believe in giving call outs that campsnap can work on and make it a little better. Specially if it's something that can be fixed via firmware. They are listening to their community and made some cool updates since this video dropped.
just saw the camera on my feed. rush over to youtube for the review lol! thanks for the feedback! going to wait for the second version. definitely don’t like how loud the shutter is. especially if i’m going to use it for street photography and want to take close up of people candidly
Great video - I have just ordered one myself (UK) and am looking forward to shooting with it having had similar film cameras as a child. I am also hoping to find a small capacity card so that I am limited to the 24-36 shots on a roll of film so that it really focusses the mind. I think the idea of a quiet shutter is a good one, and if mine makes that noise, I will disassemble it and disconnect the speaker, but I really hope that they don't improve the sensor. Its flare characteristics are part of what makes this camera unique.
been bombarded by ads for this camera and finally caved and snagged glad to see it does well enough. what was your point and shoot that you showed in comparison to this though? it looked cool.
I also just love the aspect of shooting and not being able to instantly look at it. I love the surprise of film. this camera has that for me still! love it
The shutter noise reminds me of some of my point and shoot 35mm cameras. It's not that noisy, a lot of film cameras are noisier, especially medium format cameras.
RUclips recommend me your video and I am soo soo thankful, really great stuff man. btw, I was wondering do you need an editor for editing your videos man?
Hi all, Is there a cable that will allow me to dump the photos into my iPad? How do you empty/format the built-in card? Thank you for taking the time to reply.
@@DavidKabraYeah thats what I would like to see as well. The camera in itself seems to be pretty cool but the image output is jsut not aesthetic at all to me. If they could do 1-3 film simulation like filters which would render images I actually think look retro, I would happily buy this.
@@p4ul.f708 with the recent update the new batches are being shipped with their retro filter.Their IG has examples now. Since I have the older version I'd have to manually install it.
The problem is, ITS A CHEAP POINT AND SHOOT!!! With a disposable lens. Asking them to keep upgrading features will eventually cost what a Fuji might cost. JUST ENJOY THE CHEAPNESS of it! I'm going to look into one for the style it shoots. You guys want everything to be custom to your liking. Why don't you build your own camera? People literally hyped up technology just to now want your photos to look like old technology... bruh. 😅😂 just enjoy life man.
Most of the issues I called out can be fixed with a patch or there's a DIY fix. Other issues can be solved for a later version. It's not really a big deal.
@@DavidKabra people can also make or buy a pancake lens with a disposable lens and use at on your NEW HIGHER QUALITY DSLR OR MIRROLESS. But still cool tho
@@hogg1media627 I love the "body cap lens" Olympus made for mirrorless. But I'm glad there's also a cheaper option (besides phone of course) where I don't have to worry about my good mirrorless camera getting damaged or stolen.
The people at Camp Snap are usually quick to respond if you need help. From my experience You have to turn on the camera when plugged into the computer. When it's turned on it will display a folder or will say if the card needs to be scanned. An alternative is to use a card reader.

Campsnap 1.5 is the latest version.

- Quieter shutter

Really great video, thank you so much for your insight and the above is incredibly helpful too! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Hi is there a way to tell which cameras are the 1.5 version? Or are they automatically updated with the new version after a certain date? 😅
@@jadeortega8219 If you get one today it's on the latest software with the vintage filter. So images look a lil better than my preorder version
And as an aside, the speaker on this camera is 100% removable. If you take it apart, the speaker can be easily removed in a non-destructive way, it just unplugs from the camera's motherboard.
hi, i was wondering if you took it apart yourself, and if you know what type of battery it uses, and if the battery is replaceable?

I honestly didn't even think about that. Since most disposables are free focus I kinda ignored it lol

The tape definitely helps. Especially when it's loud outside. The idea itself is cool, so I'm rooting for them!
Just did the same
@@Tren_is_okay @jhoang861 there's been an update if you get the lastest the shutter is a lot quieter
Came for the review, stayed for the drain shirt
I am really enjoying this camera. It has its quirks but overall it is a fun little camera. Great video!

I saw there's firmwares updates on the sight of the lastest 1.5 cameras have a quieter shutter
Had to check out this camera, but then what do I see you wearing?
A DRAIN SHIRT!!! Hell yeah!🤘🏻
Santa Cruz hardcore forever

Just got mine. Nice Drain shirt!
Hell yeah! The Drain Shirt slaps!
Thanks for the video :)
I'd love to get your opinion on the version 1.5 camera. Can I send you one to check out?
Hey Brian, I'll email you.
I was surprised to see shots from right where I used to live. Great review!

Thanks for your honest opinion about this little cam! Did help me a lot !

Have you printed any 4x6? If so how did they come out?

If I'm walking around with medium format the shutter is the last thing I'm worried about 😂 worried about my old man back

Super helpful. Going to buy one right now. Thanks, David.
Just bought it ! Thanks ;-)
Awesome review 👍🏻👍🏻 can't wait for mine to arrive.
Let me know how you feel about it when you get it
whats the other point and shoot camera you show in this video?
looking forward to the new retro filter, hoping it will negate the cold white balance!

That's kinda based on the person. It being screenless and you don't have to fidget with settings it's made me focus on taking photos.
