Mesa/Boogie Heartbreaker Run Through

A quick demo of my Mesa Heartbreaker for sale on Reverb and The Gear Page. This is an older Mesa amp that's been well taken care of. In this video I run through the channels and switches to demonstrate their functionality.

Sounds pretty good in this video. When I sold them at a store in the 90’s, it always seems it lacked that last step in top end and upper mids to really ring out and spank. Haven’t played one since then though. The combo we called the “Back Breaker”

6V6s are to be used with Tweed + Tube Rectifier EXCLUSIVELY. With 6L6s and EL34s you can use any configuration. Remember to always match the bias selector with tubes type. Same bias selector's position for 6L6 and 6V6; the other position for EL34.

Bias should be matched to tube type as pictured on the bias switch, yes. Per the manual, the rectifier can be used in either position with any tube.

what amp would this compare to in Mesa's catalogue today?

This is an awesome amp but very sensitive. Accept 3 different tube configurations and I have tried all of them. Took me a couple of years to figure this amp out. Tone knobs are sensitive and super important dialing in the sound you want. You really have to have an ear. I have the amp with 2x12's. The only downside is this amp is heavy.

No doubt on the weight. 80+ lbs. Probably 90 with the casters on. And one handle. I'm planning on selling my combo and cutting the weight in half with the MB California model.
