This seems to be a rather controversial amp from Mesa raising opposite feelings - either very positive or very negative.
The amp has 3 channels, each with independent EQ double voicing (more technical features in the video). The aim of this demo is to let you hear some of the sounds which can be obtained from this amp both alone and within a musical context - ie. a backing track. I didn't manage to try both voicing otherwise the video would have been longer.
    GUITARS USED:
Fender American Stratocaster HSS with Seymour Duncan pick ups
    PRS Custom 24
    Gibson SG Standard
    MICROPHONE: Audio Technica MB2K Microphone
The backing track used at the beginning and end of the video was created by myself all guitar sounds are straight from the amp into the mic: no compression or EQ in post production. Just a little delay for the solo parts
If you liked the video and wish to see more, please give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel. I will be posting other sound demos.

I have owned this same amp for 15+ years. This demo was recorded at extremely low output levels. One thing I can say is that whenever you crank up the gain, output or any part of the individual eq's it changes the chararateristics of all the other controls. It's not an amp for wusses. At 50 percent on the output I can get sparking cleans on 1, lead and crunch on 2, and on 3 I can get really tight lead sounds. So many variations with vintage and modern modes. I mostly run vintage on 1, modern on 2 and switch up on 3. Extreme power switch if you want to unleash a totally different dynamic with the power section similar to class a feel.

I've owned one for 20 plus years from new and I always thought that it fell short. But recently watched a RUclips video on why nomads get such bad press. The nomad manual actually tells you how important the treble control is to the sound. The secret is to dial the treble control back to allow the mid and bass to come into play. As I said, I've owned this amp for years, and it's just like I've found a new toy! Beautiful.

I am happy that you "re-discovered" your Nomad. I read the manual, too and that helped me a lot to dial some good tones, but I must have skipped the info on the treble control, as I didn't remember it... so, thank you for sharing the information... I will try that, too... I own several amps and from times to times I feel the same as you, when I switch an amp on that I haven't been playing for long time and it's just like I've found a new toy!...This happens especially when I let my "discovery mode" prevail rather than looking for the tone I have in mind... lots of beautiful surprises when that happens....

You are so right, however I found the Presence can really affect the treble as well.

A lot of people don’t realize that it’s not a normal eq in the sense of how it feeds into the amp. It goes input>gain>eq>output>speaker so if you have the gain cranked on any of the channels the eq becomes more or less useless. I’ve found that the key with mine is to crank more out put rather than more gain. Like it can melt your face off with some of the dirty sounds but I think she does best as a edge of breakup machine

That's a very good piece if feedback and I think it will be useful to many owners who don't know how to deal with it. Thank you.

EQ is the name of the game with this amp/ Many many Good tones ♫♪ inside these Nomads. You just have to tweak tweak tweak to find them/ I always had mine running through the MESA Rectifier 4 x 12 V30 loaded cabs. NIGHT, and DAY Difference in tone, response, and Feel. IMO the combo sounds like Azzz when playing higher gain drives

It's a good sounding amp. Even on channel 3 it sounds a little dry. Amazing cleans and crunch though

I've owned one for many years. It's true that it takes some getting used to and some finessing, but you can get some decent sounds. I used it mainly for gigging with a three piece hard rock back and it could really hold it's own. I will also add it can get pretty dang loud. :)

I bought this amp about 20 yrs ago without hearing it. I'll admit I was disappointed at first. Was looking for gear cred upon joining a new band, however this band was a 9 piece horn based funk/soul dance band. So clean and sometimes crunchy was needed. Swapped the tube's out with JJ's. Tweaked the living shit out of channel 1/2 and boost to the point where I used paint pen dots for all settings in case. Using a Strat I cut through all the stage volume with ease. 15 yrs people would say during breaks how impressed the clean without high volume was. It wasn't until after the band ended that I got to fuckin around with it and realized my Shecter C1+ with Seymore Duncan Humbuckers could melt your face off. Seems like that's where it need to be.

Yeah, the amp can give very good tones on hard Rock and metal, too. It really just takes some twitching...

It feels like it's missing so much presence, every guitar I'm hearing through this amp (In multiple videos) seem to loose their natural depth all while sounding well underpowered.

Too much work to get what you want, when Other amps are easier to get that sound for lower cost. Peavey, later Crates , etc. A late 90s silver stripe Bandit will sound better for probably half the cost. A guy locally wants to trade me a Nomad 100 watt for a 15 watt Orange , had to pass on it. I dont want to work that hard to get the sound Im after.
