Cool Video, man. Just one error I noticed at 9:49. The leading metro car working service 131 to South Shields was 4081 not 4061. Anyway thanks for checking out our metro system.
Oops. That's either a typo or a Specsavers special. I'm afraid we will never know which. Actually, checking your own work is very hard. A thing called preconception kicks in which means you see what you expect rather than what is actually there. Really enjoyed our visit to Newcastle. We need to go again as there is so much to do before I even go trainspotting. We went to a lovely concert by a youth orchestra in the Sage. Really good.
I think you have the 994 and 599 thing backwards as the 599 TOPS class only came into effect with the Sunderland extension where it first ran on network rail track. They are considered 599s, not 994s now
@14.01 Yes up yours too thanks for spoiling what is otherwise a brilliant clip. the one with the glasses i was referring to not you Boogies Trains just in case others might ask.
Very good, when I did the system I got the A+B+C ticket which lets you use the ferry from South Shields to North Shields. Must do it again as I used Grand Central from York to Sunderland and back.
Unfortunately the service was severely disrupted during my visit due to the effect of the heat on the OHLE so most of the network was out of commission. Hopefully I will get to go back after the new stock is in use.
A great insight into part of the Tyneside metro. Super commentary as always just sad that part of the system was immobilised by the extreme temperatures. However what you gave us was of the high standard that we know expect. 🤓🤓
As what you mentioned about the The Class 555 Tyne and Wear Metro units. Yes they will be 5 carriages and will have walkthrough passageways. Plus will also feature air-conditioning and to enter service from next year.
I was very pleased to have the opportunity to see the original stock before it is retired. I visited Newcastle regularly until 1974 but had never had a chance to ride on the Metro before this visit.
Great video'
Very good

Empty cans make the most noise.

It does give me an excuse to visit again when the new stock is in use. The city is also worth another look.
