In this rather too long beginners guide video tutorial, I show you how to play the "Eldest Son" mission from the Arma 3 Vietnam Prairie Fire cDLC Campaign, solo, but using the excellent SOG AI Steam Mod, and some others to make the learning experience a little more enjoyable.
Remember that these mission are designed with some random elements, and are meant to be replayed over and over, so as you get used to the controls & commands you can ramp up the difficulty and perhaps lower the number of AI squad mates you bring with you.
Hopefully I'll be doing some more Arma 2 Campaign tutorials, but they shouldn't be as long as this one!

It’s a great mod. I prefer to play the campaign with a group of guys, but lets be real, most of us have families, jobs, different other hobbies. Unfortunately cant play online all the time. Johnnyboys AI mod is great for still being able to enjoy the SOG:PF experience when you’re a mostly singpleplayer type of gamer

Thanks for the great video and for showcasing SOG AI. I can offer a few SOG AI tips if you don't mind. When an AI or two doesn't move when you give the wheel command for Lay Dog or Move There, try giving that wheel command a second time, and they will likely obey it (like when the medic unit 8 didn't move early in the video). Like you showed, I definitely use Leapfrog to initially break contact (a fighting retreat), and the team will place a charge and drop smoke to cover the retreat. But then I will often use a series of Move There or Lay Dog commands to move ahead in desired direction, as team will move faster that way. I saw you called in that napalm strike at the end and you could see burnt trees, and embers on the ground, etc. That was SOG AI's persistent napalm fx (vanilla napalm leaves the jungle looking undamaged). That was super cool, thanks for sharing this video.😁

Honestly, this mission is TERRIFYING for me. Just being alone, tracker’s constantly going after me and running right past my face, having to stop and listen every few seconds or whatever… It’s crazy to know this happened but in real life.

I’ve had arma 3 prairie fire for quite a while now and I originally just went in ham and as you said got very frustrated, here we are 7 months after you’ve put this video up and I really want to pick the game back up again thank you for this insight and incredible tutorial of how things are to be done , 3 shots to announce trackers are after you through to when to place mines the team controls this video is 10 out of 10 thank you very much mate appreciated

Just an addition, it’s actually an equipment item known as a “trap kit”. That is the actual thing that will spot those traps ahead of time.
Why is it when using the mouse wheel, there's no option for selecting a group? I always end up going alone on these missions.
How do you have your crosshair closed like that?
Help, when I press the middle mouse button after load out my kit there is no squad option so I am basically Ramboing on my own. Any ideas?

You don't need single player cheat menu. All the other mods mentioned are good but you don't need sscm or sog ai (which is such a terrible mod). All you need is Zeus enhanced, echos sandbox everywhere, alternate running and enhanced movement. If you're playing without alternate running then you're a fool. There's no way I'm running 3, 4, 5 + km with the regular running.
Im struggling to get above 35 fps on this dlc whilst in base game Im getting 80 plus and have a beafy gpy and cpu.

How do you get third view as Im stuck in 1st and enter dosnt work ? Also Im having issues with getting onto multiplayer? some error workshop immersive ai error saying I got to delete it but dosnt work still? Man issues trying to get into a good server also........only having luck on reforger but these mod dlcs are a nightmare to run and find a good mp game - can you pls help?
