My 2015 243,000 mile Prius has a bad hybrid battery. It keeps running, but the gas motor never turns off. Is that bad for the car? Thanks!!

What do you mean allow it to warm up? The engine doesn't run until you begin driving the car. The is no idle with the engine

If your Prius is cold. It will use more gas as it tries to heat the engine up.

It will warm up of the outside air is cold enough. You can initiate this easily by turning on the heat or ac depending on the time of year on max for a few minutes.

Won't that use more gas than if I just drove it instead of sitting there warming it up?

@lilmsgs that isn't correct way. Let's say you need to go to your office at 8 am. You turn usually get out of the house at 7 45. So at like 7 42 or 43 turn on the car and press the accelerator for a second. This will warm up engine and prepare your battery for the trip.

The engine doesn't come on when you first start it regardless of whether you touch the accelerator for a second.
