By the law, you did it if you were there. These women described their actions on those days and the made a series of poor decisions. A couple of them seem to minimize the severity of their choices. It’s sad because the commutation board looks to see if you take full responsibility for your actions. They need to do that to have a chance to get out. In England, life means 15 years then you’re eligible for release unless they decide not to release you yet. Like a parole board but without the part where they check on you after release. The only people who get life without parole are the people who commit multiple murders, and other similarly serious murders. I think their system would work better.
It is so unfair to keep these women in jail for life. They do not cause a threat to society and should be let go to live some form of life. I don't get it. There are murderers who spend less time in jail. This doesn't make any sense.
How the heck would you know if they are not a threat? And prison isn't only about segregating threats, its also about punishment so that the victims family can know justice and also to deter other criminals. Please hold your opinions until you have thought more deeply about the matter.

This video left out a lot. Diane Metzger being pained in a sympathetic way makes me sick. She knew about the murder and was the lookout. He wanted to leave all the children at the motel but the baby was the only one that was her child and she refused to leave it. She knowingly ditched those other kids never to return. She knew about the murder and this "documentay" is incredibly biased to these inmates. I am not going to bother watching. Diane Metzger is right where she needs to be.

I worked at the women’s prison in Delaware when the episode of “Women Behind Bars” was filmed. She was my “inmate worker” for years and when she was asked to do that show I warned her that she has no control over how the episode will make her look. I got permission from the Warden to bring her episode on a dvd I created when it aired and I remember Diane just sobbing by the end of it.
Prison is NOT "rehabilitation" it is torture and enslavement. I have seen the inside, everyone needs to see what I have seen and their empathy will be awakened.
this is a shameful outrage on these women, you can almost feel their collective & individual spirituality & sense of worth bleed out in front of you. they need to do what women do, it's a vile waste of their instinct & human energy to do the right thing, mothership & family is their right urgently, don't waste their precious commodity!

Wow, this was so heartbreaking and equally eye-opening. With so much I have heard regarding the justice and prison system, we are in great need of reform for changing times. Very well done video.
