Referee professionalism and physical fitness. Referee uniforms should match. The center shouldn't be walking this age group. Too far from play, positioning, and no anticipation for change in possession and long ball. AR cannot run nor keep up with play: 5:22 14:36.
6:21. The defenders were in the center circle. That has a 10yrd radius. The AR is not on his line. Looks like 15 yds from half when defenders were within 10 yds of half. Offside questionable and not an accurate POV to make that call.
13:18 is failure to respect distance.
14:02 Law 9. Drop ball when ball touched official with change of possession.

I don't want to be rough on refs. I am one. I've seen myself in video. You learn from errors (hopefully), but there are some basics I expect from myself.
The players are playing hard. I have to put in the effort. Walking doesn't fly.
Keeping in shape is a must. At 18, it was easy. Getting old makes it hard. I have turn matches down when I physically can't do it. It's respecting the game and the players.
I actually didn't have any issues with the players (aside from the RC I believed were earned). Every ref has their doubtful, trivial, careless, reckless, SFP meter. So, I won't critique their gauge. Straight reds are straight reds.

Ref was complete garbage this game. White team played way too dirty. There should have been more yellows and a red or two
if you’re new to the channel, this is how woodbridge plays 😹😹 you can watch any video that features woodbridge and you’ll see that they should play dirty as hell and the refs let it slide.
I doubt he was “complete garbage”. I am sure he made plenty of correct decisions, turned up with a whistle, started each half on time, etcetera. Get off the sideline and referee yourself if you think you can do better.
@@McCandlessJohnJ unfortunately his failure to act on several occasions leads to.player frustration and at this age especially, whether it is right or wrong, players will start taking matters into their own bands. This ref should be chosen for games of a lower level, and having been a ref, I do not usually criticise other refs.
Number 2 from white deserves an oscar, ask him to change his sport, and get the referees into old folks home
Ref did a poor job managing fouls. An early yellow card or two would have kept things from escalating. Ref didn't know when a ball hits him, it is a drop ball to the team that last touched it. White did a great job of being dirty and cheap away from the ball.
Not correct on the ball hitting the ref. The referee is considered a part of the field of play. The referee tries to stay out of the way, but if the ball hits him--even if it careens off of the referee and into the goal to score for one of the teams--it is as if the ball hit a divot in the turfgrass.
I agree about the poor game management and failure to draw a line early. There were even a few fouls that could easily have been a straight red, which would have sobered the players early and calmed the game down. This game got out of control of the referee because the ref demonstrated timidity and lack of resolve early, and it's hard to recover from that perception later on in the game.
@@pmcnamara1954 The new FIFA regulations state that a drop kick must be awarded to the team last in possession if a pass to a teammate or a shot is blocked by the referee. If the course of the game is not directly influenced by the referee's contact, the play is continued.
@@pmcnamara1954 the ref being considered part of the field changed 2 years ago according to FIFA Laws of the Game
@@pmcnamara1954 The law concerning the ball hitting the referee changed a couple of years ago. Now, if the ball hits the ref and possession changes, it is to be considered a dropped ball for the team that touched it before the referee was hit.
My suggestion is update yourself on the laws of the game (31 changes in the last three years) and take the course

The level is horrible including the referee that lost control over the game, which could have led to more aggression and serious injuries.

What kind of BS is this?
Yeah they were pretty shit, at the u18 level an average player is way better trained than they are, better disciplined, these guys tackle just to tackle, no real purpose, not even close at all to playing the ball, and should be able to play better as a team, but the two captains isn’t super out of the ordinary, throughout all of high school my team had 2 captains and one vice captain who would step up if one of the regular captains wasn’t available for a game. A lot of school and academy teams do that here, makes it easier for two to lead a team together

Maybe they do this system of 2 captains in North America but in developed football countries such as France, Spain or Germany, even at the U10 level, there's only 1 captain....The 2nd captain doesn't put an armband!
@@louka3891 I've had goalkeepers come to the cointoss as a captain. I inform the coach that another on the field should be a captain.
I have no problem with two, but when the keeper runs out of their area to the other half to ask about plays, this is not acceptable.
A GK expects to be allowed to return to their position delaying the game. Usually a keeper gets a dissent YC for going that far from goal to argue calls.
Never had a coach complain. They're happy to add a captain or I just allow players to properly inquire.
@@louka3891 there’s always a captain and vice captain, you just don’t see the vice captain wear an armband because he’s also the back up. Same for not seeing him at the coin toss. But he’s always there, usually whoever takes the armband if the first captain gets subbed off.

Facts
This channel has seen me post things before about giving referees the benefit of the doubt. However, I am with most of you this time. This is the type of crew you would expect to see at the Recreational level or Men's beer league. Very inconsistent.
Between Covid and the treatment we have received from player/coaches/fans.... this is what you get though. Just a bunch of old guys there to pick up a paycheck.
Unfortunately, the abuse to young referees have scared them off. I am being called by multiple orgs as we are sharing refs now.
It used to be a no-no to cross lines and do games under the different ref groups. We're all hurting for help.
Doesn't help that a lot of classroom training and field training have been eliminated from new refs. Good for the higher grades, but cut from starters.
I remember my first clinic. You could see who took the tests with their books open. This stuff needs to be known when you walk in the field.

The captains need to start acting like captains, and set the standards of discipline as an example for the rest of their team to follow. It is too easy to blame a referee for poor player behaviours causing most of these issues.

Who teaches players to come in lunging studs up and throwing hip and thigh checks! What level of football (soccer) is this in Toronto?
I had to stop watching the game due to the referee’s incompetence. Step on a head, intentional push downs, dangerous sliding challenges and a bunch of tackles, yet no card given. When two opponents run into one another and both fall, he pulls out a yellow card and just randomly picks which one to give the card. This type of incompetent refereeing causes extreme frustration on the field, where the players begin fouling flagrantly just to get even with the opposing team. The institution that oversees and administers this league needs to open their eyes and see these referees are doing much harm and have no ability to actually oversee the matches.
