This was a great exhibition match! These boys have been away from competitive matches for a while due to covid. It's only in the last two weeks that restrictions have been lifted. This was a chance for them to get a good run out. Hope to catch more of these great teams this season!

North American youth soccer in a nutshell. 50/50s everywhere, tackles flying, high tension for no reason, screaming parents. This is dreadful, but entertaining at the same time.

Weak referee + a red team that was borderline dirty and it is an average game to watch at best. Shame because the red team has some skill but all I'll remember about woodridge was cheap hits after the ball was gone. 9 on red is a dirty player.
I'm only a couple of minutes in and the ref has ignored a two footed over the ball lunge by a red, plus Red 9 is greedy, and wants to dribble past the whole team on his own, I guess I'm about to see him play dirty too
this game is what you get if you sent in 11 boys without a game plan. Wondering what they do on the training pitch. No teamplay, no cohesion, no game plan,. And a very lenient referee.

best player yes but also the worst temper of the team, he needs to reel in that temper or he won't make it out of high school soccer, #9 needs to learn he doesn't need to do the little dirty things like tugging on the arm or jersey but to use his speed.

all of them were terrible but that #10 had very poor marking and no restraint just following the ball not sticking to his man from what I saw.

Yeah he is good. In this game at least, he wasn’t dribbling into good spots or passing off to his teammates as often as he should’ve been. But everyone has off games so I might give him the benefit of the doubt.
And off the ball, more specifically his movement, but also his attitude towards potential conflict. In the first few minutes, he kept a cool head on him and diffused the situation between 15 on red and someone else, I forget his number.

Some of the tackles from the red team were straight-up disgusting. Didn't even go for the ball half the time, lucky no one got injured. Learn some respect. Also pisses me off how clueless the ref is.

IF this is the future of what soccer looks like in canada, we might as well just give up. No linesmen, the ref could barely keep up, the players are sloppy overall (a few gems in there).

It's only 2 teams out of 1000000000 so don't pull the plug on Canada yet, would love to see a USA v Canada rivalry startup, so at least our USA boys won't need an army of 20 as an escort to just get into the stadium as they did in Azteca, sorry Mexico use to like the Mexican teams but I have seen too many dirty players and too many wanna be Neymar's (broken ankle 10 times a game).

Not sure if that Rush team will see this, but your #10 needs to be playing as an Attacking Midfielder for two reasons:
1. He's one of the few with good vision and passing
2. His skills is good but tends to lead to him losing the ball up front when it clogs up
He needs to hang back a bit more and it'll pay off by making many more splitting passes on the wings, he's up too much to be effective.
Also, that #9 on the red team should've gotten sent off (imo his second yellow should've been when he made the swinging motion at the other end, but the taunt alone was reason enough).
Anywho, a bit stricter reffing would help these kids a lot.

Im not gna discuss about whether they are academy level or not. However, if this is "Academy" level, im more concerned of the kids getting pissed off after each hard contact. You can clearly see that they are influenced by watching professional football. If you see any top league youth level teams play, they don't even bother fighting because its just a waste of time. The players here seem to play "who gives the hardest tackles game" than football. Just sharing what i thought.
That 10 on white team was class. Should play a bit deeper imo. He has that vision, but he needs time to turn so can't play as a striker.
Also the GKs are an absolute mess for both teams, needs more voice and communication

Red overrall have the better players although white have a couple that are better but man are red dirty, every challenge by a red player had a follow through and I had to laugh when the red parents were complaining about white 10 and ignoring the red left back that was the first to raise his hands constantly
Maybe more athletic but the red didn't have much skill and white was dominant in possession. The red didn't seem that interested in actually playing just fouling and should have 2 men down atleast.

I feel bad for the referee having to do Boys this old by himself that's where he's losing control is from the missed calls that his AR's could have called or seen. An association allowing for this to happen is disgusting and helped raise the tension and anger in the game.
I agree officiating a physical game is difficult with a full crew. With only the center officiating, pretty much setting him up for failure and likely losing control of the match.
Ref should have walked away if there were no ARs.

As a referee, you decide to accept or not accept assignments.
I would never have taken an 11v11 70x100yd game as a center with no ARs and no linesmen.
At minimum, two man system, but I prefer the three.
Being by yourself, in order to be within distance to call the game, you have to run. A center circle referee cannot 'effectively' officiate the game.

@@gorkasillero last time I checked when you play "contact" sports, expect contact the ref can help control the flow of physicality throughout the game. But at the end of the day majority of players who make it pro invest copious amounts of time learning the art of street football because the higher the level a player reaches the greater the intensity and contact will be. So if you train your train to play soft how do you ever expect them to compete with a child who has immersed themselves in excessive physicality, the saying, "Play to the whistle is relevant for a reason." Regardless if the ref calls a foul or not you need to keep playing lest to give favorable opportunities to your opponent.

Of course they need to play to the whistle, but that doesn't exempt the ref of doing his freaking job, does it?
@@gorkasillero No it does not exempt the referee from doing his job but if you continue to play futbol you will always come up against "thuggish" ,as you say, players it the same concept as bullying it definitely should not happen but people are still bullied. Plus, I'm sure you can attest to the fact that as you grow up bullies don't go away you just have to find your specific way to deal with them that you feel comfortable doing, same thing applies here. I'm not defending the refereeing by any means but I do believe as a player you have to adapt and roll with the punches because as we all know some fouls won't be called on the pitch and if players complain to the ref they have a chance of being carded or receiving other disciplinary actions. The coach and the team should file a complaint and they have to go from there however while the game is going players just have to adjust and do there best on the field sitting there complaining about every little foul will not help your plight. Because if the ref is crap, the ref is just crap.
