  • I'm excited to sit down with Matty Lansdown. We talk about cancer, environment and community, and much more. Make sure to listen to the full interview to learn more.
Matty Lansdown is a scientist & nutritionist with over 10 years of experience and a background working in the healthcare system. Firstly, in a nutritional epigenetics lab servicing elite athletes and also working as part of a disease research team within hospitals.
Just a few years into his cancer hospital job, surrounded by amazing professors, doctors, PhD’s nurses and fellow scientists he began to feel like an imposter. He was asking questions that no one else seemed to be asking, about the cause of disease and the impact of food on the body. It was so strange to him that the large majority of patients were overweight or obese and no one talked about their diet or their lifestyle.
    We discuss the following:

On January 1 of 2024 I decided to abstain totally from all sweet tastes. I also eat strict carnivore (no cheese, dairy, carbs whatsoever). I eat all forms of land and water creatures and eggs. After two weeks the “food noise” completely stopped. For the first time in my life none of the foods you talked about in this interview have any power over me whatsoever. My recommendation for anyone watching this video who has an emotional attachment to sugar, dairy and gluten is to quit them all (even facsimiles thereof) cold turkey. Set your protein target, don’t worry about the fat that comes along with it, and drink water. You will be shocked. Now no food has more appeal to me than the cessation of the “food noise” has. I feel like I was a literal food zombie who had no control whatsoever and I am now free.

      Nice summary!!!
      This happened to me also.
Cold turkey and eat lots of fatty meat. Keeping it simple like you recommend is so effective.
The rule I would add is listen to your body and do what it tells you.
I’ve been 3 years ketovore (I sometimes eat sauerkraut or dill pickles with cheese for my dessert.) When I was plant based I hated sauerkraut…so now my body wants it.
I periodically experiment to see what my body truly wants in social settings. One day a scone at a church gathering set me back 3 sleepless nights! To test my theory wheat and me DO NOT AGREE I ate one bite of a cinnamon roll and one bite of French toast at another breakfast and was anxious at bedtime for one night. Hello! No more wheat for me.
Ice cream with the grandchildren has been interesting with stomach pain, soft stools or diarrhea, so I just enjoy their company and skip the dessert.
By listening I stay healthy, happy and dropped 40 pounds which I’ve maintained effortlessly for 3 years. I am a former bread addict and professional yo-yo dieter of 36 years-healed by fatty meat and fully recovered.
(I ditched my fatty liver, blood in urine, thyroid issues, skin tags, joint inflammation and my fasting insulin is a beautiful 5.0)
Keep sharing your story and God bless you abundantly on your journey to optimize your health .

I was encouraged to eat ice cream during my stage 3 colorectal cancer journey in 2010 but now I know if it was to come back, that I would eat keto / carnivore and fast at least 3 days. I also think why wait and just do it as a preventative. I do intermittent fasting because I only eat two meals on most days with carnivore with some dairy, but I would love to do that once a year for 3 days because I believe that's when the cell turnover happens (for lack of a better description) . 😊

Yes there are many Oncologists that know that sugar is bad for cancer and do advocate against it with their patients but they too understand that many patients lose their appetite or have side effects that make eating a difficult experience. In that instance , yes, a patient must eat what they can to just stay the course. That is how Boost got so popular . It had the calories , flavor and protein and can be sipped . Eating can be a major problem with cancer. There is no easy answer or right food that all cancer patients can eat. While foods and no sugar and low carb is the ideal for cancer patients, each has to find what they can do and all professionals need to understand that and encourage but not expect a certain diet that cannot be handled. The sugar cancer info has been known for a long time. Whether the nurses, dietitians or doctors speak to it with their patients is another story but then that is where the patient and their family need to advocate for themselves nowadays and educate themselves because our healthcare system today is failing many.

Can someone help me please? I started the carnivore diet 8 days ago today. My main issue is that I have a strong aversion to ground beef. I try to force it but my body is protesting. I think if something makes you nauseated it should not be forced. The body is trying to say something. I can tolerate chicken, pork, eggs and bacon. Beef, even the smell puts me off and I don*t know what to do. Can I continue without it for a while?
