Have you checked out "Beste Zangers 2019"? Floor participated and she did many different styles and languages. The show is a Dutch production that brings together "Best Singers" and they all sing meaningful songs to each other. It is NOT a competition, but a celebration of song and they all bring greatness to the table. "The Queen" did steal the show, which is funny because Floor wasn't really well known in her native Country, until this show. Now she is a household word in the Netherlands. haha. Anyway, great music on this show. Another rabbit hole. ;-)

I am so totally captivated by Floor. What she does has me interested in her as a person and singer far beyond anyone I have ever heard. Her eyes are always what get me. She projects her emotions so well through her eyes while singing. At the end of the song, you can see the sadness in her eyes and then the onion ninjas attack me. Love her sense of humor too, when someone complimented her on her eyes she replied, "Thanks, my parents made them for me". 😂

I had to check around. It first looked like some B&K models which are superexpensive and only used in the biggest studios. First i thought it was a MXL cheap rip-off, but seems like it's an AKG listing at 6K. So, quality all the way!

People, This is Floor at home in her barn, YES, barn, They live in the country almost in the woods, in a self renovated farmhouse. Hubey Hannes did a lot of the heavy lifting. As I understand it, she engeneers her songs together with her husband and friends. In "alone" the pianist was her friend from Ayreon, lots of the background music is done by friends in the trade. Also nowadays, Foor is a vocal coach, so no wonder you see instruments in her barn. Besides being a mother, as your wife knows, is work in itself. So stay safe and sound, German greetings. I think Floor started singing at 14 or thereabouts so now she is 42 I believe. 28 years of learning all musical styles from Opera to Classical to pop to Symphonic Metal...she's pretty much sung it all. I've never heard her sing Country&Western though...

if you read the description of the video, she credits the folks who did the music for her. she works with various people. one of her covers, not sure which one, was arranged by the guy playing the keyboards for the Ayreon concert. she's dropped 3 covers over the course of the pandemic. "Alone", "Adagio", and this one. this is all after having fought off Covid. she tested positive early last year, and isolated at home. thankfully, she only had a mild case.
This is from her homestudio they built recently (before that, Floor used the kitchen). She started doing the covers to keep her voice in shape, during Covid-19, and because her interactions with us the fans went berserk approximately 2 years ago. Floor is a private person, but she let us in, and opened up. She started with a video clip of her singing in the woods, missing the Sunlight (it was November a 1,5 years ago) - from her phone. That clip went viral. I believe she discovered how passionate but honestly friendly and unique, the Nightwish Army really are during and after the TV show Beste Zangers. She asked us for crowd funding for the last extra show (of 10) to make it available for public release for free. She got the money so fast - she had to stop / block for funding in hours, because she got doubled. Floor realized that the Nightwish Army is just as serious as she is herself - we have the deepest respect of her as a singer, but also as the person and role-model she is. And we want to show the world what music can be - and what a true singer can do - and we are trying hard to behave properly and mature while doing it. Floor trust us to use her covers properly - these are not professional studio recordings - but they are getting really close now. The musicians used on all her covers are just friends of her and / or her husband's. None from Nightwish - but old friends like Joost van den Broek (After Forever, ReVamp and Ayreon).

But after I listened it second time I heard she has done also her back vocals to make it sound so much bigger / brighter / better... And they chanced the hole song to a balade - it was originally more a pop song / soundtrack

When I hear this song, I always think that if top 40 radio was in it’s right frame of mind... and frankly... focused more on quality like it used to be years ago... her version of this song would be a top 10 hit... if not a number 1.

You will not be disappointed. As to Oblivion: if you see the movie, and put Floor's performance of the song next to it, you realize she actually emoted all the feelings and emotions from the movie the best. Adagio cover is much better
if you read the description of the video, she credits the folks who did the music for her. she works with various people. one of her covers, not sure which one, was arranged by the guy playing the keyboards for the Ayreon concert. she's dropped 3 covers over the course of the pandemic. "Alone", "Adagio", and this one. this is all after having fought off Covid. she tested positive early last year, and isolated at home. thankfully, she only had a mild case.
The Ayreon keyboard guy is Joost Van Den Broek who was in after forever with Floor back in the day too

This is from her homestudio they built recently (before that, Floor used the kitchen). She started doing the covers to keep her voice in shape, during Covid-19, and because her interactions with us the fans went berserk approximately 2 years ago. Floor is a private person, but she let us in, and opened up. She started with a video clip of her singing in the woods, missing the Sunlight (it was November a 1,5 years ago) - from her phone.
That clip went viral.
I believe she discovered how passionate but honestly friendly and unique, the Nightwish Army really are during and after the TV show Beste Zangers. She asked us for crowd funding for the last extra show (of 10) to make it available for public release for free. She got the money so fast - she had to stop / block for funding in hours, because she got doubled. Floor realized that the Nightwish Army is just as serious as she is herself - we have the deepest respect of her as a singer, but also as the person and role-model she is. And we want to show the world what music can be - and what a true singer can do - and we are trying hard to behave properly and mature while doing it. Floor trust us to use her covers properly - these are not professional studio recordings - but they are getting really close now.
The musicians used on all her covers are just friends of her and / or her husband's. None from Nightwish - but old friends like Joost van den Broek (After Forever, ReVamp and Ayreon).
I’ve read someone comment on another video that that mic costs $6000. But I don’t know for sure.
I just know if anyone deserves a high quality mic it’s this lady.

Floor also did all the backup singing on this as well. All of the vocals are her. When I hear this song, I always think that if top 40 radio was in it’s right frame of mind... and frankly... focused more on quality like it used to be years ago... her version of this song would be a top 10 hit... if not a number 1.

As to Oblivion: if you see the movie, and put Floor's performance of the song next to it, you realize she actually emoted all the feelings and emotions from the movie the best. The darkness, desperation, the sadness, and the unknown new beginnings. It is totally from what I remembered and the emotions I went through watching the movie, several times. It is uncanny. And actually, I refrain from watching this movie again, because of the strong emotions it invokes in me.

That is a $6000 microphone. M83 is the name of the French band who composed this song. This was her husband Hannes on drums and the guitarist from Hannes band Sabaton. Tommy from Sabaton is doing much of the guitars and arrangements. Oblivion is the theme song from the sci-fi movie "Oblivion" starring Tom Cruise. This is so much more powerful than the original. Floor's voice is so much warmer and much more rich sounding. Floor is stretching her proverbial wings. There is a solo career in her future and this is her reaching out to the masses. Even when Floor sings more pop style, she chooses emotional and powerful songs. never candy pop like Taylor swift. Loved it Sarah & Tom!

It is her own thing, she has friends, fellow musicians play their parts and send it in, she adds her vocals. She usually shoots the video herself or lets her hubby shoot the video. She can sing anything I think, everything I have heard Floor sing, any genre, beautiful. The mic is worth 6 grand btw. She usually rocks up what she covers musically, but all her vocally. The backing voices, also her. You and your wife should check out her cover to Adagio, so powerful.

Floor has a habit of taking any song and making it her own, almost always better than the original. She has her own studio in their house and she can isolate any music and or background vocals and then sing to that music.
