    The walking cane is a must-have.
    My hip arthritis problem is so much better since I go swimming and do several tours every week with my dog and the bicycle. In good weather we go daily and cycle to a lake for swimming.
    Also I enjoy gardening work.

    Wow! This is a real wake up call!
    I did 12 weeks of PT Oct 2023 thru Dec 2023 and ended up worst than I started. They had me do the leg raises and you mentioned that we should not do this exercise. Over the weeks they started to put velcro weights on my ankles which got heavier and heavier week after week so I can continue to do leg raises. One day they had me do 10 squats and I walked out of there limping. Another day lunges. After the treatment, I ended up with pain on the side of leg and buttocks. I was then told I may have a back issue. SMH... As far as walking, it doesn't take much for me to get a flair up just walking 1 block so now I've been using a cane. Except now both HIPs started to hurt on some days so I ended up using a walker.

    • @TraceyMush
      @TraceyMush 24 дня назад +2

      Using two sticks instead of just one can reduce the limping. You can use a walking stick on the other side where you don't need quite as much support.

    So, if the bike isn't good (OW!), and walking isn't good - what to do for aerobic exercise? I've been doing walking videos, so, what to do instead? Is Ballet technique ok? Technique means the ballet exercises, not the routines of leaping and twirling, the actual dancing; technique is the ballet exercises, which I also love, but then again, some of the exercises are lifting the leg straight up, to the back, side, etc., which you said not to do, but others aren't, such as Plies, Demi Plies, I don't want to aggravate my hip. How do I get aerobic movement?

    Thank you, you are the first person I have heard speak on muscle imbalance. I knew my muscles weren't working properly in my arthritic hip but didn't really know what to do about it as most things I was told to do either hurt or made things worse. I felt like I had forgotten how to walk, how to use my leg. Where I live it is virtually impossible to find a physiotherapist who is taking on new patients so your videos are a life line. Thanks also for free content for those that have limited resources. Gratitude.

    I’m a massage therapist and a yoga teacher - ALL of your compensation habits and aka muscle imbalances follow you everywhere you go - the mechanics of how you use your body is the root cause - very basically NO one should know your body better than you so instead of focusing on what’s wrong we as bodies need to know what balance really is to the best of our abilities starting where we are at now. When yoga teaches from an alignment based focus and energy shifting through use of the breath we have an empowering experience of where perhaps we are going. Body awareness is key. Let’s also teach and learn what balance IS.

    PT did all these. Found better information online. You are my hope to walk again. I had a herniated disc shown from a mri. My general doctor referred me to a pain treatment center. Ablation and cortisone shots which were no help. I gave up for a period of time. Finally had spinal surgery which took care of back pain. In the meantime hips locked up lost muscle tone. Pretty much can’t walk. Want to swim but will have to attempt to go myself. Your advice is very helpful right now. Will sign up for your program for hip arthritis. ❤

They aren't observing me walking enough to see if there are imbalances, which I think is my issue. I've been going for 4 weeks & I recently have noticed legs feel weaker. My issue is primarily knees. My legs, it band & knees, often more achy when I get up in morning.

    All the things I did for years, has made my hips tight😢 I was very fit and extremely flexible. Then 4 years ago, I had a slight limp, physio suggested using a cane. Then a friend said to use a walker, to help get in and out of the shower. Well, now I rely on my walker 😢 My legs are not strong anymore, and I was used to being agile. I used to do the splits, stretches, like a gymanist, now what I've learned, this has caused my tight hips. How can I loosen them, and start being normal😢 I was also a lap swimmer, but don't have my pool anymore, and the physio pool was dangerous, getting in and out.
    I've started using my arm crutches, hoping this will help.

      Hi Judy, if you can get your glutes to be the main force behind the movement then it should be fine. When you finish your exercise your glutes should be the main muscle group that should feel tired. However, if your hamstrings and glutes are more tired vs. your glutes you could be exacerbating the issue.
