Wish I'd come across your channel 7 years ago when this arthritis problem noticeably worsened. That "focus on your glutes and not on your front muscles" is so spot-on for me. Any suggestions for doing that in a pool? I feel like I could be a poster girl for this video. Such a relief to learn that it could take a month to get the glutes to activate independently.

I have been so depressed with the thought of another hip replacement and then two knee replacements. Now I have hope that I may be able to avoid those surgeries with strengthening the right muscles. I wish I lived in Texas I would be a patient.❤
I was diagnosed with bone on bone hip arthritis, on one side, when I was 27 (I have a connective tissue disorder). I was given no advice, just a walking stick and that I should try to put off surgery. Diagnosis in the other hip at 50. Despite some restricted lateral movement in both hips and occasional flare-ups, I’m still managing to live my life normally (and mostly pain-free) at 68, with no surgery. Now, I work to strengthen my glutes which has also helped. Thanks for your advice - I would probably have a greater range of movement if I’d been given it in my 20s.
Yeah, I heard that all from 2 ortho docs and I was in so much pain, so -> surgery. Pain continued months after and then I was introduced to Dr David who talked about glutes. Got his program, worked it, pain subsided more and more, 95% less, bc I was diagnosed with L3/4 bulging disc. It may never have been necessary to have that hip replacement. All I know now, is whatever Dr. David says is the truth for me and. Keep doing all the exercises, daily! Thanks Dr. D. ❤

So taking it easy and back full force attention in the back program exercises plus infra red wrap and bed. Probably takes a week or 2, so now I know that apart from doing the regular ones I cannot go without those specific back/glute ones. Thanks Dr. D it IS muscle imbalance. Period! 😃

I wish this information was available 12 years ago when I started having hip/back pain. I’ve lived with chronic pain and monthly visits to pain clinics and still unable to sit for more than 30 minutes to an hour at a time. Last month I went back to the ortho hoping it was time for a THR and possibly an end to this constant nagging back hip and leg pain. I was told that a THR is not in my near future and my spacing is still good. BTW I’ve also had full imaging, lumbar, pelvis and hip and the only issue they have found was FIA and a torn labrum. I really had given up on PT been there and done that over a dozen different therapists. I ended up worse after treatment every time. I have no training but I can tell you that 15-20 minutes on a bike every visit to warm you up is NOT the way to treat a torn labrum,FAI and arthritis from personal experience. I’m going to throw everything I can at this one last time. Following your channels PT protocol and looking at regenerative options PRP and peptides. 15 years dozens of doctors and $10k or more worth of injections and imaging and the medical systems best has offered was Norco 🙁

Thank You for this information. For the past couple years my pelvis tends to rotate causing the hip to pop. Very painful when it happens. I can't walk when it does. When it goes away I would try to strengthen the muscles, but through your teaching I've realized why those exercises haven't worked. I didn't understand why or what excercies to do since the ones I know were not working and actually causing the pain. I was perplexed. I have been thinking it was the lack of abdominal strength, so again you confirmed a lot of ideas for me. Thanks again.
Everything he said i agree with. I kept pointing out my inceases in pain and got dumb answers if any but in the end they were flexion and tight rectus. I did therapy which included rectus stretch and some glutes and got good releif but not that balanced strength enough. Got posterior hip replacement resurfacing but my strong flexers, adductors, incised glutes caused me to badly injure tissues in front of joint. 2 years post surgery ,4.5 years not being able to do my favourite activities and still trouble. Terribly weak glutes and strong flexors , poor walking. He said it all.I have not heard anybody explain this so SPOT ON! I regret the surgery. My other hip has worse arthritis and has little problems.
You are on to something doc. Sitting for office work for 20-30 years gets everything out of alignment. Stand wrong ,hold head wrong from looking at a computer, walk wrong. Tight glutes certainly helps alleviate posture frim just sitting and having no glutes even just walking on flat cement. Thanks for paying attention to the balance but we just have to live outdoors more.
I don't have 90% mobility. BUT I don't want to get surgery. I was diagnosed with HO in 2012. Following your protocol, strengthing gluts, lower abs. Seem to be improving, but I really feel it when temperature changes or precipitation in the Forcast. Thanks for your enthusiasm 😊

QUESTION: I just switched from a cane to a walker to off-load weight more on the OA hip during this time to quiet the inflammation. Do I lightly hop/step on the ball of the foot or lightly place my whole foot down on the OA side? Yup, I left the surgeon's office and cried in the parking lot. Then I got MAD and have been looking around since then to get the help that makes more sense to what my body is feeling. Your conversations and information having given me new hope, thank you!

Thank you so much! I'm very sensitive to x-ray can't receive them or any type of radiation. And I have metal in my body somehow so no MRIs. That's okay. It started with a herniated disc. I'm just worried that I hear my femur hitting on my pelvic bone. I have pelvic interior tilt and one leg is longer than the other one. Any ideas for best help? I'm strengthening my glutes decompression feels great.

Hey Rachel! Hip dysplasia can be complicated and is something that drastically differs between people. This makes it very difficult to generalize things that would be helpful for this condition.
So bad I couldn't sleep for 4 days as it started years ago gradually from acute to chronic pain and as a fully insured upper middle class 62 yr old guy, I still didn't go to the Doctor. So, after 3 Chiropractor visits and after 3 weeks of chronic pain and stretches, things are getting better. I must admit, it was so bad a friend gave me a Lortab and the pain went, "poof". but as an educated person, I want no part or map to opioid addiction so I'm sticking with the stretching and chiropractor. I'm researching PRP or stem cell if it goes back to pre pain of a month ago.

i literally just got back from the doctor after having xrays done on my hip, he tells me i have OA as both my hips (extra portion of bone around the head of my femur). meanwhile late last year i was having physio on a hip injury sustained at jiujitsu, physio tells me i have a week right glute as a result of the hip issue so strengthen that booty cheek. fast forward from christmas to new years week and (again at jiujitsu) my right quad gets strained and then i have two weeks (the last two weeks) of MASSIVE pain in my right leg hip (which is why i went to the doc for xrays) this video seems more inline with what is going on with my leg then what the doctor said because i dont understand how i can have no pain or issues in my hips and then two weeks later its my OA causing these issues
That is a great way to look at it Kenith! Pain from OA should get progressively worse! Sudden onset of massive pain does not add up to simply an osteoarthritis problem. I am not a candidate---ever---for hip (bilateral) replacements. I am 100% dependent on a walker for EVERY step. My question is, will strengthening the glutes and the abs, "help" the pain I have to live with for the rest of my life? Or...is it just always going to be this way, so...why bother? I've avoided a wheelchair---except for transport---for 3 years. I'm not getting worse, nor better. My hips do grind and pop, but what hurts the most is the top of my thigh. So....? Thank you.

What annoys me is that none of the therapists that I've seen have explained this to me. If you've studied the body wouldn't it be logical that the glutes is the main thing to focus on. 🤦♀️ it's narrow mindedness. The book says this so that's what it is. Think outside the box for gods sake

If the cartilage is worn down so you are bone on bone, is that recoverable? Also torn and frayed labrum and some muscle tears.

I use two canes , like mountain hikers and have a walker for breaks from walking with the canes. It helps.

Built up thigh and dominant walk. Changing that waking up my glutes. Median and mini have a bit of strength bit glute needs strengthen.

Big problem is the hip pain. I always heard is necassary to walk, also with pain. I will change this.

So bad I couldn't sleep for 4 days as it started years ago gradually from acute to chronic pain and as a fully insured upper middle class 62 yr old guy, I still didn't go to the Doctor. So, after 3 Chiropractor visits and after 3 weeks of chronic pain and stretches, things are getting better. I must admit, it was so bad a friend gave me a Lortab and the pain went, "poof". but as an educated person, I want no part or map to opioid addiction so I'm sticking with the stretching and chiropractor. I'm researching PRP or stem cell if it goes back to pre pain of a month ago.

What if my angle at knee ( knee to chest) flexion is 85 degrees, do I still have a chance at avoiding the hip replacement??
I keep working mu GLUTES , so am looking for my Hips to align them selfs. Will they do this .

i literally just got back from the doctor after having xrays done on my hip, he tells me i have OA as both my hips (extra portion of bone around the head of my femur). meanwhile late last year i was having physio on a hip injury sustained at jiujitsu, physio tells me i have a week right glute as a result of the hip issue so strengthen that booty cheek. fast forward from christmas to new years week and (again at jiujitsu) my right quad gets strained and then i have two weeks (the last two weeks) of MASSIVE pain in my right leg hip (which is why i went to the doc for xrays)
this video seems more inline with what is going on with my leg then what the doctor said because i dont understand how i can have no pain or issues in my hips and then two weeks later its my OA causing these issues

I am not a candidate---ever---for hip (bilateral) replacements. I am 100% dependent on a walker for EVERY step. My question is, will strengthening the glutes and the abs, "help" the pain I have to live with for the rest of my life? Or...is it just always going to be this way, so...why bother? I've avoided a wheelchair---except for transport---for 3 years. I'm not getting worse, nor better. My hips do grind and pop, but what hurts the most is the top of my thigh. So....? Thank you.

What annoys me is that none of the therapists that I've seen have explained this to me. If you've studied the body wouldn't it be logical that the glutes is the main thing to focus on. 🤦♀️ it's narrow mindedness. The book says this so that's what it is. Think outside the box for gods sake
