Lol
I mean technically....
I'm not surprised if she'll manage to do that someday, I mean she did made a working circuit inside a cake 😂
@@TinyFitnessHouston Ha ha, you're totally right. My little joke really isn't that funny because of that one fatal flaw. ;)
making a particle accelerator out of chocolate
As a physics professor, I love that you included what reflection, refraction, and diffraction were. As a physics professor, I'm also amazed that chocolate can take on the pattern of that tiny diffraction grating! I never knew I had the tools to make holographic chocolate in my cabinets! Thanks for teaching me some something tre cool!
You can make holographic chocolates for your class on valentine's day and be the super cool professor. :p
So if I understand correctly.. it's a plastic sheet that has microscoping lines in it and then if those lines get moulded into the chocolate, the chocolate will refract? So none of the plastic is actually transfered onto the chocolate, just the shape of it? Or does it stay on and is somehow edible and not plastic?
@@konohamarutard yes the chocolate molded the shape of the refraction sheet. There is no plastic on the chocolate at all.
@@nikkiewhite476 Yeah, I honestly never thought chocolate would be able to mold so finely. It's quite interesting.
@@TerraHv1 Me too. I thought the chocolate particles would be too large and not fit into the 2 micrometer spaces. Glad to know I was wrong!

everyone: edible holo doesnt exist
Ann: Not on my watch!
The hero we all need and definitely the one we want.
@Southern Fern ...did...did you watch the video???? There is no plastic in the end result. She debunks the 'pour it on holo paper & transfer!' method, then shows you how to do it legitimately.
@Southern Fern Okay, perhaps the better question is...did you watch to the end?? FFS, there is NO PLASTIC IN THE FINAL RESULT!! Ann merely used a mold to put a bunch of tiny lines in the chocolate, resulting in the light bouncing off the chocolate in a prismatic/holographic way, appearing to us as "holographic chocolate".
@Southern Fern but your not eating the plastic you literally see her take it off at 7:34
@Southern Fern dude mate bro she literally explains the science behind it and even links where to buy the molds how do you think things become holographic? Magic plastic? It's light deflection something does not need to be plastic to be holographic a mist of water can be holographic for gods sake

thanks for the physics tip i have a physics exam tomorrow and i clicked to watch you make holographic chocolate so i didn't have to revise-
The fact that the light doesn't have to pass through to be diffracted is boggling my mind. What is happening to the light? Is the reflection of the light somehow getting diffracted and creating the rainbow? That is so cool!
I think the shapes in the chocolate cause waves of particular light to be amplified and others to be absorbed depending on what direction you look at it. For example blue butterfly wings are often not blue but actually have small ridges similar to the holo chocolate.

as someone who used to do a sport requiring me to use micron grade equipment pretty often, a 2 micron is smaller than my smallest grade of diamond polishing paste. for reference, said polishing paste was something we used to only use for races. it made our steels almost perfectly reflective, and if a 3 micron paste makes steel almost mirror-like, a two micron gap is pretty insane
