- This video can double as a skull caverns guide for those struggling. While I don't get the absolute most possible calico eggs, you would need thousands of staircases to do that, I showcased my methods of tackling the skull caverns for easy egg collection.

I had no clue the quiz guy could ask all normal questions! When I first encountered him I was asked "How many steps have you taken" before I'd unlocked the casino. I thought it was supposed to be a gag/prank quiz.
apparently with the step question the middle answer is always right! at least that’s what I read
@@alexanderendrizzi462 slightly wrong. Its not the middle answer as in the one in the middle, its the middle answer as in the value is in the middle of the other 2 values given, like as in their numbers

It seems like there are more than just 4 cacti you can get. It's like over a 100 versions, because there are 3-4 parts of the cactus that can have a specific look and it randomizes the combination. It has like idk 12 faces for example?

The monster book doesn't actually work like the burglar ring, it instead sees what already drops and gives a chance to double it.
Emilys shop at the event is definitely the best I've seen, she sells a prismatic shard for 500 eggs

Something interesting you can do: if you go to the regular mines on a desert festival day and go down five floors with the elevator it will count for your egg rating

I've definitely gotten ladders and then drop shafts in skull caverns. The new randomization I assumed. Maybe I was just imagining things

Egg rating needs to be 55 not 50 to reach the max of 500 eggs from gil
If you play on the Riverland farm and are good at fishing. You can semi-consistently get to the festival year 1 by catching The Legend and getting lucky with rain. You need to skip the egg festival.
I did it once on the forest farm, but it took an insane amount of luck, and I didn't have the same resources that I did on the riverland farm (iron pickaxe).

from what ive seen, emily’s outfits depend on what your highest skill is level wise. so if you have level 10 fishing and everything else is lower, she will give you a fishing themed outfit. idk how the game determins it when every skill is level 10, i would guess its random to some degree
It might depend on how many do you have from each skill for filling the mastery levels

her outfits are seeded, you can check what you'll get if you put your save in the predictor long before the event happens. it's not determined by skills.

Calico eggs drop from a variant geode node not an ore node, so you want geologist->excavator to improve their drop not Miner+x.

If I remember correctly you get them anyway while descending in mine and they are pretty good and you need to reach F120 anyway. Are dark boots any better or it was like "just because"?
I think drop shafts spawns more when you have worse luck. This is only theory but I've been noticing it alot when i try to dive during unlucky vs lucky days.

18:00 Did ladder and dropshaft spawning change in 1.6? Because I've determined off a bomb and gotten 2 drop shafts and a ladder from nearby rocks in 1.5 before.
to buy the Woodcutter's Weekly with eggs may be one of the new best way to boost up foraging level

If anyone really want easy mode I’d recommend my cheese strat of going to every elevator level in the mines at the start of the day. Gets you an automatic ~20 egg level. Gil rewards the highest egg level you get in a day so you can still cavern run without worrying you’ll loose that initial cheesed level if you don’t get higher from caverning
Haboo, what are your thoughts on the parrot egg in terms of gold gain from mining? Is there a case to use it over fairy box?
i was using a level 4 parrot in the regular mines up until i couldn't oneshot enemies with the build i had at the time. spending about half the day there without using monster musk or anything, i came back with around 10k gold. i havent used it that much (i since started a new file shortly after getting that trinket) but it was shocking how good it was tbh. i wouldn't recommend using it for skull caverns or the volcano though, it's much better to use a trinket that helps you out in combat in some way there. but if you get a high level parrot early enough, it can really give you a huge boost in your finances. just use monster musk and stick to areas where you can reliably kill everything quickly to maximize your profits
not sure if this answered your question, but that was my experience using the parrot!

Have you encountered any errant red iridium bats in your tests from the statue debuffs or are those still hidden away on the 500+ floors?
Its funny how he says hes being carefull but is still on level 100 2x faster then i am almost every single time with 100 gold cheese

I'm glad that my loadout for skull caverns is almost identical to hab's except I use a lucky ring instead of savage ring
also is it just me or is haboo kinda cute with that haircut and those glasses
i pretty much always play skull caverns like you do in multiplayer because it's more chaotic and fun. do i get less resources out of my skull cavern runs? probably. is it really enough to matter? nope! (i'm not speed running)
I'll keep this in mind for when us console players get the update in a few months or something

250 bombs is still a lot for the average person in year 2. They cost 1000 now, most people aren’t balling out 250k “just starting out in year 2”
Just did my first run with 5 staircases and like 30 bombs maybe idk, but got to lvl 100 and finished mr.Qi quest lmao
Genuine question: why do people use salads for energy in year 2 or so?
I've always used cheese, i tend to have enough cows to have an infinite amount of gold quality cheese, and that gives more energy and health than salads by far
Don't know if it is just my game (i play with mods) but normal cave seemed to raise my egg rating.
I've never seen 3 chests on floor 300, while typing this you said "you can skip them with a drop shaft" thus making me realize I always accidentally skip those;-;
A really good shop is Jas, she sells magic rock candy.
The wiki says that the you need an Egg Rating of 55 to get the best reward.

And if you go down that stair is brings you to floor 77258 of the Skull Cavern literally filled with iridium ore? I am currently on Fri 12 of Spring in year 2 on the file I found this on

250 bombs is super easy to get especially for me cuz i have weird luck/non luck with the surprise gift boxes you find from qis drops that just give you 5 each how you open i have like 100 rn
he's always talking about "turning on animation cancelling" how can you turn it on? is it an outside macro or something?
Yep
yes, with Right Shift + Del + R you can animation cancel in vanilla yourself without anything else.
But he is using a macro to bind them all on one key, so he can press the left button and some ms later he presses an other button on this keyboard to cancel the animation.
You can also write a script (like i did) which cancels the animation automatically when holding down a specific button (this way you can still chose between not animation canceling and animation canceling) but in offical speedruns this isnt allowed as far as i know.
Funfact: if you press s (so looking to the south) you cant animation cancel that fast like from the other directions. For rocks and woods its about 40ms time before you can animation cancel safely from west, north and east but looking to the south below 90ms delay before animation canceling can actually fail lol
Also for watering and hoeing you need a way higher ms delay before animation canceling (like 150 is safe for all directions), thats why i added an extra button to switch between fast mode and normal mode lol

Burglar ring is so much more beneficial here especially with all the luck bonuses he already has. Burglar ring literally doubles loot

@@windflier1684 having two iridium bands is arguably better for cavern dive since that 20% damage boost (plus magnetism. I dunno if it stacks) could do much more. Sure, you could have an Iridium-Burglar and Iridium-Luck combo. But swapping that Lucky ring with Savage or Napalm might help you better.

He is a speedrunner; even when he is trying really hard to correct for "normal player" he's still overestimating.
Still: if you play well and have a bit of luck, by year 2 it is _possible_ you can have your greenhouse mostly filled with ancient fruit, and Mines spelunking over the previous winter to help fund a barn full of pigs that you let grow up over the winter to start getting loads of truffles for money come spring. I don’t think it's as likely as he makes it out to be, but it's not actually impossible.

I am always so confused on people's expectations of an average player at the end of year 1. How do you not have a galaxy sword + all tools iridium by that time? Its not that much effort at all?
"Average player" is playing for the first time, not optimized for anything, and has only looked things up on the wiki if they got stuck. Like, probably they spent time with the NPCs or growing less profitable crops because they are pretty, instead of making money.

Basically just farm egg rating and eggs from skull cavern. Take one of marlons quests every day and before passing out make sure you talk Gil to get more. Also talk to the weird cook man and get rare fruit with uncomfy hot sauce for luck and speed buff
