So the boosters and cool school and those that followed managed to drain the life out of jazz, leaving it to a small band of aficionados that could understand and appreciate the merits of this genre. Enter Joan Chamorro and his team with the delightfully lively renditions of old jazz favourites, bringing the swing, dance and soul back into the music, their performances stunningly accomplished for those so young. Now we see them, in this and other numbers, entering the deeper waters of more contemporary jazz, but doing so with style and verve that continues to maintain the life and energy so much part of the SAJB that we’ve come to know so well. It’s something warms our hearts, sets our feet and hands tapping in time, and smiles to our faces. Music that lights up our lives. Thank you all so very much.🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🙂
nonsense. this is amazing music, but there is tons of great jazz of all kinds...lee konitz, cool jazz, swings, joshua redman....dont know what you are on about man. i guess you dont like Lester Young , either , then, or Fats Navarro. both as cool as it gets, or Miles for that matter.
@@PianoMeSasha I think what Ernest may be mourning is the disappearance of big rooms full of people dancing to music that is easy to follow. But that change was independent of which performers were prominent. Instead it was a cultural change. With the prominence of rock music, the dancing scene unfortunately disappeared. That was a complex change which was really no one's fault.

Victor's solo just kept getting better and better until there was no way to be any better. Or that is what I thought before it got even better than that.
I can't imagine how proud Joan C must be of these incredibly good and talented young musicians.

Muy buen solo de Victor Carrascosa… haciendo ligaduras todo el tiempo, prácticamente sin silencios… improvisando sobre una base… suelto, con sentimiento, excelente embocadura (sin pifias)… en ritmo, en tono… además se nota que disfruta… Me encantó!… felicidades también a Joan Chamorro y a la banda!!!
A big shout out to Joan for tackling this very hard Thad Chart for Count Basie in the 50s. Great job Carla for recreating one of the few Freddie Green guitar solos . This chordal solo is VERY rare. Great job Victor and also nice job Abril on drums, and the other soloists. The Elder is a very rare and great offering by Thad to the Count.
That's interesting. I am not a musician, but what makes this chart so hard? Is there a Basie recording I could compare this with?
Quel orchestre ! Tout autant que le soliste, c'est la performance d'ensemble qui impressionne ; Et quelle rythmique ! Je ne cite pas de noms sinon il faudrait citer tout le monde.
My sense is that the band was, in a way, kind of peaking at this point. Just look at who is in the group. They all play with such ease and authority. Of course, Abril is the foundation here. I can't get enough of Carla's and Jan's solo work, as well as Victor's great ride solo. How DO these kids play with such polish and seem to totally enjoy what they are doing? The ensemble sound is right on. Very impressive.
This swings terrifically! All the solos are top notch and Abril's drumming is superb!

Victor y la trompeta es una sola unidad, ya no hay vuelta atrás.. y lo ha logrado con menos de 15 años de vida!! Estoy deslumbrado y emocionado con tanto talento en esta banda, por favor Sr. Chamorro, explíquele a los profesores y maestros del mundo como lo ha logrado, explique su método, su pedagogía para que así el mundo se llene de música bella.. y es que solo la belleza puede salvar al mundo.

Excellent - Victor looks about twelve inches taller than he was a year ago, and along the way his playing has advanced to a comparable degree. Carla's chord-solo work is beautiful - right on the button ! This is a great arrangement and, consisting entirely of the SAJB's "younger" players, the big-band is a joy !!. Good Job, Guys !!.

Buenas Tardes sr Joan Chamorro lo felicito por su Banda apenas los escuche en FB con la Melodia de aguas de marzo y quede impactado y ver que voces tan hermosas de Andrea Motis, Rita Payes Alba Armengou que a su corta edad canten como los verdaderos angeles felicidades a toda la Banda Saludos desde Tepeaca Puebla segundo Ayuntamiento de La Nueva España y aqui escribio Hernan Cortez una de sus cinco cartas de relacion que mandaba a la Reyna para informar de su expedicion a la Nueva España, Cabe mencionar que aqui se constuyo una replica dela Giralda en el Centro Historico de esta ciudad esperamos escucharlos por estas latitudes algun dia

Terrific , gr8 talented young players. The drummer lays it right down the middle. Super player and the tightness of the band's phrasing is wonderful. Would be a credit to any big band

Lovely arrangement, excellent ensemble work, but when the soloist starts trying to show how clever he is, and how many notes he can fit into a bar, all finess flies out of the window. Victor is a brilliant player when he takes time to form great phrasing and melodic line.
Don't agree. The quick notes also have a structure and contrast with the slow phrases before and after.

Fantastic! As great as your singers are I love hearing a good old big band instrumental from you too. Was that a little of Neal Hafti’s “Lil Darlin” in Jan’s intro? That’s a song I’d love to hear you do. Both in the big band and the vocal versions. Bon any nou!
Greg McCarthy - In the meantime, perhaps try the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra's version of Li'l Darlin' with Maestro Chamorro on baritone sax and the wonderful Ignasi Terraza on piano. Unfortunately, though, the trumpet soloist is off-mic.
