- Sermon delivered by His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrius on October 26/November 8, 2022, on the feast of the Holy and Glorious Great-martyr Demetrius the Myrrh-gusher, at Saint John of San Francisco Orthodox Monastery, Cobleskill, NY.
Your Eminence, Please Pray for me. The struggle against the passions for me has been very difficult. I have lived a very sinful life for most of my life. I am now 40. The experience of those sinful actions almost seem to live within my bones. I need to replace my addiction to Eros for divine Eros. Please pray for me.. That I might have a deep love for Christ, the church and all the sacraments.

You are a success! The devil has not won! Keep going my friend! I wish you all the best.
Fast- Pray - Repent. When you feel weak either through temptation, doubting Gods’ existence , feeling down and even alone, say the Jesus Prayer. Fasting will help you. Repeat “ Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God have mercy on me a sinner”, refer it to your sins but also the whole world. We are living dark times and attacks on the faithful Christians will happen. Repeat the Jesus prayer as many times as you can, even if it takes an hour plus, keep going until you feel our good God is there to help. It doesn’t matter how many times we sin or fall, we must get back up , ask for forgiveness, and follow Christ. We never ever give up on our Lord Jesus Christ. He is there, even when we feel afraid and alone. He is always there and the tough times will make us spiritually stronger. Make Faith and hope your wings and then you will feel the fire of love burning in your heart for Him. It’s not easy but remember that it’s never been easy. Our Lord will fix us and He will fix this earth one day. Just pray and believe. The one who truly believes WILL receive. The one who does not give up on Christ, will see the truth and will taste life. God bless you. I’ll pray for you too. Thank you for the talks M Demetrius as well. God bless you all. So glad our Good Lord doesn’t leave us alone. He always directs His people to the right places and shows us miracles. ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️ Also listen to the paraklisi of our Panayia and also you can ask the Saints and the Holy Mother to pray for you too. There are many things we can do when we are tempted. Just don’t despair. With Jesus Christ we always have hope because He is mercy and has endless Love for us His creation because He is LOVE and LIFE. Take Holy Communion as often as you can; this too will make you stronger. But please prepare yourself for His body and blood. ( fast and be pure in body, mind and thought) God loves us like no other, don’t forget this. And He knows exactly what’s in our hearts. We cannot hide anything from God.
