Glad to see you demonstrating the PHEV Sorento, as that's the direction we need to be moving. Personally, however, I'd forego either of these variations and opt instead for the fully electric EV9. It really is an amazing vehicle!

Where does the battery sit in the phev? Does it make the floor higher, and therefore make tall people's knees sit up high in the 2nd row?

It's really unfortunate it came in at 48km of EV range. It would get 5K in federal rebates with just 2km more which would make it much more competitive.
Something like the Outlander gets the 5k off which makes it much more attractive by comparison just because of 2km of range missing out.

Which one will handle better on snow? That is my main criterion.

They’re both about the same! Both have great ground clearance, standard all-wheel-drive with snow terrain mode and handle snow well! However for winter driving it really comes down to braking/stopping and for that there is nothing better than a good set of snow tires!
