+kaptainkristian what is your opinion on nujabes?
If I may ask, do you use After Effects to edit these?
+
“Frank disappeared four years between projects to actually live a life, then tell us about it.” Fuck me thats good.
SoundsOfTheCity I read this as he said it..
"4 years between projects" I see where kaptain got the inspiration for his upload schedual
😂😂😂😂😂
You ain't kidding
this is one of the most beautiful videos i've watched on youtube.
yes exactly
you put me on and i love you just a tiny bit more for this i literally just came here from your vid. you're a gem just like frank 🙃
Im one of the last ppl to watch this before it hits a million
me too
Frank Ocean's Self Control genuinely nearly made me cry. That track is beautiful.
which album is that track on??
The Neon Director Blonde! It's either the 6th or 7th track on the album, I can't quite remember which.
2 yrs later and i still agree to this comment
2 years late to the party but I had a dream where Frank Ocean preformed Self Control at a concert and I remember very distinctly that I started to break down and cry because of how beautiful it is lmao
Roll The Credits facts
Blonde and channel orange are masterpieces and should be put in museums
Corn Bread same with Nostalgia, Ultra
Zion Whitmire truuuu
Corn Bread and also Endless
g u n n e r endless is disgustingly underrated. maybe that’s because it’s not available on spotify or itunes
Jude Nelson blonde completely over shadowed it. to me they are equal
Eyy, I see that Bottomless Pit at the beginning of your video. Do a video about Death Grips!
+1
I'd love it if he shouts throughout the whole video instead of using his usual relaxing tone.
8bitdiedie replace the opening music sample with MC Ride's mangled screams.
kaptainkristian is noided.
But they upload trash
wow, you could screenshot any frame of this video and use it as a wallpaper.
U everywhere ^^
oh shit kaptain kristian making a video on my nigga frank (no personal relation)
Noble Wilkes in?...That sounds painful. Sorry, man couldn't resist.
darkmyro lmao i didn't notice it's all good
Yippy221 yup he sure does some sort of video analysis on the comedy of george miller commonly known as filthy frank aka papa franku
Such a beautiful interpretation of Frank Ocean. Cannot even imagine how long this video would've taken to make. Thank you for your work.
Amazing artist. So happy you chose him. Can you PLEASE do a video on kid cudi. He's such an important artist. Through mental illness and struggles with life.
As I was watching this I was thinking the same thing.
UncommonSituations
this is all I want
UncommonSituations I'd do a video on MF DOOM. That is surely a video you'll be enterteined with
Yeah MF DOOM is a great artist as well I would even suggest immortal technique for him to introduce to people but idk
UncommonSituations kid cudi is trash
Didn't expect to see you here 👋
Kaptain Kristian, real proof that RUclips can be an art form
Thanks
Gumter Faustino *real proof
You've seemed to capture Frank's image so clearly, and its shocking because he's a hard person to capture(imo). You're very talented with this, and this is literally my first video watching you. Amazing job. Love what you did with the spiraling endless edit lol, simple but clever.
Blonde is a good album but Channel Orange is better. Imo one of the greatest RnB albums of all time.
well Blonde is more of a singer/songwriter album anyways, and certainly more than "good" imo.
I would probably agree that cO is a more round and complete work, but Blonde is still more exciting I think
my favorite remains Nostalgia, ULTRA. though
Yeah; 'Nostalgia, ULTRA' has one of the most cohesive themes in an album ever.
I personally think that Nostalgia, Ultra is a little overrated. Just my personal opinion. I think Blonde is better than Channel Orange but I can see why someone would like Channel Orange better. One way I like to think of it is Blonde is to Channel Orange what Aquemini is to ATLiens or what To Pimp A Butterfly is to Good Kid MAAD City
channel orange will forever be my favorite album of all time. the melodies and lyrics seem so emotional to me and its one of the albums i've listened to that every song is a good song. no interludes, or skits. i love it
I'm the total opposite I love Blond(e) but I can only get into "Golden Girl" & "Super Rich Kids" off of Channel Orange, I respect your opinion but totally disagree.
Fuck , thought this was a Frank Ocean song called Musical Identity.
Yusuf Zulfi LMAO i know you felt hurt bro hahaha oh man
Generic comment about how good editing is.
Generic comment replying to a generic comment about how good the editing is.
Sir Josh thanks man. your comment means the world to me. When you put yourself out there, you never know how people react, but your comment restored my faith in all yhat. Have a good one!
Jordy Baby I wonder what software he uses to make these awesome videos
your visual edits are amazing. one day you should just give an overview of how you do it and your set up.
iBEENART you can’t really teach the creativity he’s using here. You can try to imitate effects but what separates him apart are his choices.

tu é doente porra?
Can you do Samurai Jack
Caroline Nguyen he does things that are important to him not you or me
Jorgeflo7 so Samurai Jack isn't important for the fact that is "not" one of the best cartoons and Cartoon Network ever produced or released during the transition of their cartoons from Flintstones, Looneytones, and Tom & Jerry to action packed, spiked edged drawn, cartoons such as the original PPgirls and TeenTitans, Swat Cats, and GA of Billy & Mandy and including Samurai Jack again. Those are "NOT" important huh. -. 3 -.
Jorgeflo7 in short terms, it's just a suggestion if he ever sees this comment
Caroline Nguyen you are dense. if it is important to captainkristian then he will do a vid about it
Jorgeflo7 then we're just waiting

Jose A. Mendoza-Huijon Thanks a bunch
Lemonade wasn't there
Frank Ocean is the one of the most influential artists of this decade. You can hear Channel Orange in every mainstream hip hop album since 2012.
Definitely a huge overstatement.
Richard Deubler I realized "think about you" was played back in 2012 in the radio
What are you talking about dude
The Source because what he's doing isn't hip hop anymore. His releases are neo-soul/alt-rnb in their core, with slices of rap and hip-hop vibes. His voice is too good to settle for hip hop only.
Richard Deubler yes
never listened to Frank Ocean, guess here i go
thanks for always providing us with awesome content and dope video making
so? how was it
Fr did you listen
Kaptain Kristian has an incredible ability to make me invested in a person or subject that I previously didn't know or care about.
ruclips.net/video/EuaBy1keDXI/видео.html
Go on spotify and find the Podcast called Dissect. That guys literally goes so deep into details on artists albums it will make you completely rethink the way you listen to music, interpret it, and really fall in love with the artists he talks on. the most recent season is on Frank Ocean
Only God knows how Blond didnt get nominated for a Grammy but Views did 🙄😡
Viwe Mbava he didn't submit his album
aint that the truth lol
Viwe Mbava yeah he released his album after the deadline to submit for the Grammys. Some say it was intentional, who knows
It's not some people who say it was intentional, he said it himself. He released the album before the deadline but didn't want it to be in there.
You can't really argue with his logic neither, we're talking about the same academy that gave Meghan Trainor the "best new artist" and Taylor Swift "best album of the year" twice.
Viwe Mbava he said he didn't want to be nominated for any Grammys. He doesn't fuck with them
1:26 I actually really like how Odd Future as a collective do this. Tyler, the Creator and Frank Ocean particularly do this very well. Frank Ocean shows cars not as a status symbol, but as a conduit for storytelling, as he views them as places to share private, intimate moments. Tyler, the Creator, set up a narrative in his music. As a person, he has mentioned countless times before that he very much dislikes the clout aspect of fashion and jewelry, stating many times that he doesn't like to buy expensive jewelry or designer brands like Supreme. However, on some of his work, he contradicts this by mentioning expensive cars that he owns. And every time he does this, he makes it clear that there's something else to it. On Flower Boy, he kind of hints at using cars as a sort of escape or to fill a hole in his life. Almost every time he mentions boredom or loneliness, he pairs it with a mention of a car or of driving. He uses this as symbolism. He's trying to say that he doesn't actually find cars all that much of a status symbol, but he uses them as a tool to escape his loneliness or boredom.
Music: ‘photographs of something you can never see’
Such a cool way of explaining music
In 2 years can we get a kaptainkrstian on kaptainkristian? i mean shit. you good. editing skills on godmode
please talk about earl sweatshirt
that'd be so dope
Yeah he should do Earl, then odd future
Derek Bos hell yeah
Earl sweatshirt "I'm grown"
fastest I've ever actually pressed a notification
Bro the way you narrate these videos are fucking incredible. The fact that the length is such a short amount of time yet compacted with such an easy understandingly vast amount of information makes this kind of shit unbeatable. The edits on these are really fun to look at as well. Good fucking work.
2016 was a great year for music
*shows the life of pablo
He kept Life of Pablo, but excluded Lemonade (hands down Beyonce's best work). For shame.
YOU miss the old Kanye, straight from the Go Kanye
Chop up the soul Kanye, set on his goals Kanye
YOU hate the new Kanye, the bad mood Kanye
The always rude Kanye, spaz in the news Kanye
YOU miss the sweet Kanye, chop up the beats Kanye
YOU gotta say, at that time I'd like to meet Kanye
See, YOU invented Kanye, it wasn't any Kanyes
And now YOU look and look around and there's so many Kanyes
YOU used to love Kanye, YOU used to love Kanye
YOU even had the pink polo, YOU thought YOU was Kanye
What if Kanye made a song about Kanye
Called "YOU Miss The Old Kanye"? Man, that'd be so Kanye
That's all it was Kanye, we still love Kanye
And YOU love you like Kanye loves Kanye
LastSon but that's his opinion tho
TLOP is a very good album
Life of Pablo is a fantastic album, id put money on it that youve never even listened to it, you just mindlessly hate him because "DAE HE DATES KARDASHIAN DAE! HE ANNOYING IN PUBLIC~!"!!"
Perfect commentary man. Been trying to put into words why this guy's music touches me so much and you really hit it on the nose.
I would be so happy if you did a video on Death Grips.
this
MF Whom ? You silly melonhead
Nostalgia ultra is the greatest mixtape of all time. Argue with me
Days before the Rodeo...I mean that coulda been an actual album lol
The Neon Director i say rodeo is better but dbr is great too
well yeah thats a full on album right there. What did ya think about Scotts latest album?
The Neon Director it was my least favorite. I mean songs like Goosebumps and Pick up the phone are just magical but it there can never be another 90210 and Oh My Dis Side.
Yoooo Acid Rap and Coloring Book want some words with you bruh
Would love one of these on Kanye West! Your editing skills are on point.
Zachary Harrison Lmao Kanye.
Zachary Harrison Facts
ImpostorLobster™ what's so funny?
+ImpostorLobster™ what the fuck is funny?
marcus jones Lmao Kanye.
Incredible video as always. With the news of the impending return of Samurai Jack, I realized that now is the perfect time for an analysis video, and that you would do a great job with it. Best of luck
I have no idea how you edited 95% of the visuals for this, but it's beautiful and inspiring... as always. Also you have a perfect voice for video essays. Nothing but praise for you Kristian, you're quickly becoming my favourite RUclipsr.
Dude, seriously youre brilliant. Best youtube channel ive come across in a LONG time. keep it up
you talk about shit i don't even care about but when i finish watching your videos they are truly amazing and keeps me interested
This video is thoroughly appreciated and I hope the response reflects the amount of time as well as energy it took to make this.
Do one about daft punk!
CamKam123 ew no,
the lone wanderer 101 you have to be joking
the lone wanderer 101 probably only listened to harder better faster stronger and get lucky.
pressed the fuck outta that like button
why didnt you talk about his Endless album? ):
yeah I love it at least as much as Blonde tbh
or the Lonny Breaux Collection
Jeremy Acuna because he was talking about 2016 albums, he says it in the beggining
Endless was released a few days before Blonde.
He mentions Endless when he says he has a visual album
THATS THE WAY EVERY DAY GOES EVERY TIME WE HAVE NO CONTROL IF THE SKY IS PINK AND WHITE IF THE GROUND IS BLACK AND YELLOW
Saw this video when it came out and decided to give Frank a listen. I’ve played Blond and Channel Orange hundreds of times since then. Thanks. Miss your videos. Hope you’re doin well bruh.
subscribed two days ago and I've watched everything you've made so far and hit that like button on ere'thing. Just about anyone can talk about GREAT works and tell us why they are so, but the way this channel presents its argument is on the same level of GREATness as the works it talks about. It's got got the point where I hit the like button on a vid before I'm 5 seconds in because I trust that it will blow me away. And it does. Keep up the amazing work!
You make the best video essays on youtube. Period.
So awesome, KK. Excellent work as always.
I would pay this cat to make a vid about me and I don't even do shit. lol His whole style at how asses art/artists is dope as fuck!
Man this content is always so dope and the commentary always feels completely genuine I'd like to know the behind the scenes efforts, the editing, picking out visual, how the topic is chosen etc.
I love artists that tell a story instead of just rapping about crime, drugs and women. I think that's why I like Childish Gambino so much too. Him and Frank Ocean are really amazing artists.
J omg him and gambino are my favourite artists too
J nights is literally about all of that frank is just more creative with it than most.
I take it you never heard Freaks & geeks or Bonfire.
Gambino raps all about drugs and women
Whilst I agree with you, my favourite Biggie song is Gimme the Loot. I think you can balance it out on an album, as there have to be highs and lows.
I love how you captured Frank’s artistry and passion in this video
you only like him cause you relate to time between releases
Love this piece, I really appreciate the visuals as well! Give yourself a raise!
Holy shit. Your editing is amazing. What do you use?
crazy how kap kinda became the frank ocean of RUclips
You're videos calm down my headaches and I can't thank you enough. I enjoy your videos and hope to see more soon.
such a beautiful and thoughtful video. thank you for sharing
2:22 i want this as a poster
Your editing is gold
Looks like he's picking his nose in the thumbnail lol -Austen
Im glad your channel is dead :)
I played his blonde album on a road trip from Washington state to Joshua Tree national park in California to watch Childish Gambino's Pharos concert. One of the best times of my life.
well well well, my day wasnt going that well but alas, kaptainkristain has posted another masterpiece
Hey man keep up the good work. Your vids are amazing and extremely interesting.
Nujabes really deserves attention
I absolutely adore his music but no one seems to know who he is :/
right
I don't think hes overlooked, but maybe the fact that he is dead may play a role for us to feel he may be overlooked, as we cannot get new material, namely new tracks or portrayals of his interaction with the world.
Shoutout sahbabii
one of the most underrated artists of today
Can you please do a video on Nina Simone?
dave smith OMG yesss
i came thinking it was a frank ocean song and i still watched the whole thing thanks recommended
I honestly do not enjoy his music at all, but I enjoy his message
Alex Rocha I'm curious about why you don't enjoy his music? I think he is easily the most talented artist of our generation.
talent+quality =/= universally in line with taste.
for instance I can recognize kanye or Beyonce as good musicians- but I do not like their music.
I prefer something like Nujabes or Outkast, Gorillaz or Modest mouse. something that feels more raw yet in control rather than perfect with less soul. imperfections in music make it not only sound more real to us humans but also can be an effective tool for empathy. It grounds the music. something weird and unexpected/ like the "forever, forever ever? forever ever?" skit in ms Jackson. a small yet humorous grounding for an otherwise rather heavy song.
I can point out why I like them but alot of other people might just feel the thing.
an the same goes for not liking stuff.
Will Selissen It’s probably more of a personal taste.
Same.
Alex Rocha we all have different tastes in music.
This is so good. Thank you. Would love to hear your thoughts on Endless. I think it's the most underrated album of the year and also Frank's best work.
Kendrick lamars musical identity
obi was here I have the weirdest theory about Kendrick Lamar's music and how all of his albums connect from the perspective of a child.
@@tylerblair318 what
Tyler Blair yeah share
Tyler Blair share it to us bro
Tyler Blair Because it clearly is? good *KID* m.A.A.d city, all these references to experiences he had growing up and even on DAMN.
This video is just... wow... just wow... perfect!!
ayyy your intro has the audio from a track on Frank Oceans mixtape nostalgia ultra
haha oops you said it in this video
Alecreates best fuckin comment lmao
i felt in love for this video and felt in love for frank ocean twice
This video changed my life. Blonde opened up a whole new world of music for me and now it means so much. if it wasn't for this, I would've never listened to it. Thanks, kaptain.
everything about this video was amazing!!! i am definitely subscribing
Already liked, downloaded, loved, cherished, obsessed about before watching a second.
I loved this video, thank you!
Nikes is truly an under appreciated song. There's something cinematic about it, not to mention it's my favorite music video that I've ever seen. It's such an honest depiction of the life and interests of this generation. There's something subtly psychedelic about it, and it's not even my favorite song on the album.
Don’t know why but I’ve seen this video so many times!
This is great man, can u do Radiohead and the revolutionary ideas of Johnny greenwood pls?
What revolutionary ideas?
R. Pneumo listen to the album kid A
I know (and like) Kid A. But that doesn't answer my question.
aside from jonny's unique playing style, maybe david is referring the way jonny incorporates classical elements into "pop/rock" songs in an inovative and refreshing way, and his score for "there will be blood" is one of the most exciting and brilliant film compositions that came out in the last decade.
Yes, that makes sense. Still, "revolutionary" is a huge word. I do like some of his work, though it seems to me he could go much further creatively - especially with his great talent and current music hardware/software which is just mindblowing. Oh, and I couldn't really hear his presence on "A Moon Shaped Pool", which for me was a very safe, subdued, too-jammy record.
Cool vid bro, I always got this same kinda imagery from Frank Oceans music, about cars and stuff like that.
You could give melon head a run for his money
Yes it is very cinematic I fucking loved this album
D E A T H G R I P S
Nice job man ! that's sick !
FRANKIEEEEEEEE 😭 I miss hearing him talk, his voice is so soothing
You probably get tired of hearing this, but your editing is amazing. What do you use, out of curiosity. I'm trying to do something similar but Sony vegas isn't exactly getting it done.
Perfect depiction of every aspect of why I LOVE this ARTIST! Thank you! From one fan to another VERY well done Sir!
Loved your vid/editing skills so much I went ahead and got the album on itunes after 4min into it. You sold me on Blond.
Gotta say, I'd MUCH RATHER watch ur video on Frank and hear u speak about Frank instead of listening to his damn album.
You're good man. Real piece of art here.
"for all the negativity that came out"
lol, was 2020 trying to compete 😭😭
You have probably heard this before, but you remind me a lot of Nerdwriter1. Except, (don't tell him)... better... o: I like you both, long time and will remain a Nerdwriter1 huge fan, but the style and flow of your videos feel so well crafted and nurtured, it just feels like a master crafted gemstone. Love it!
Do DAFT PUNK!!!!! PLEASE
thank you for this.
Two videos in a week? Thanks Kristian!
I want to hear an essay over more artists, tho I know it's only about things u like I'd love to hear one about the weeknd, of the development of his music from a gritty to more pop sound
frank ocean is one of the greatest artists of all time imo
its weird to say it because he has only been around for so few years, but I do love Channel Orange and Blonde more than almost any other pair of albums by a single artist.
Jaamie B hes cemented himself in the world and is already a legend i also meant to say greatest artist of our generation all time is a stretch atm
I love you for this
Every single video you make is god-tier, wtf...
Beautiful man. Fucking beautiful
