Thanks for making this video. Just got my s4 yesterday, but waiting for my radio tools to arrive. Curious why you went with the provided GPS antenna vs the stock one? Is there any benefit using the rsnav one over oem?
Dan, I just got the RSNAV S4 for my 2014 audi A5. It did not come with the gps and the Wi-Fi LTE cables. It did not come with the antenna splitter cable either. The screen does not even have the sockets to connect the antenna cables. In your video you did explain about the option of using the splitter to keep using the car’s gps and the blue socket on the MMI to use it, however you missed the part when it comes to connect the other end to the screen and rather focused on connecting the Wi-Fi and gps. Please advise. Thanks!
If your rsnav doesnt have sockets then something is wrong. You will need them to make the rsnav functional. Post pictures of it on the fb page so we can see what the issue is.
I'm getting ready to install the ResNav into a 2015 Audi S5 B8.5 convertible. Where is the best place to position the antennas since there is not a headliner? Would it be better to use the stock antennas? Thank you for any advice you can offer. 😉
How would you do wired CarPlay? is the USB input for wired CarPlay what you tucked under the panel on the passenger side? I am confused how the Audi connection works if you don’t need to have anything connected from the AMI to the RSNAV and just have to “trick” the ami by having something plugged in
Yes, carplay would plug into one of the USBs, you dont have to put it where i have it. You can essentially route the wire anywhere you want. The AMI sends a signal to the stock unit that something is plugged in. And there are seperate wires for the sound, rsnav taps into those wires internally through the harness. That part happens behind the radio.
First of all: great video! Extremely helpful! One question though: my 8.9 inch RSNAV S4 doesn't have the MMI cable coming out from the screen (unlike your screen as shown on the video position 45:10) so I don't know where to connect my MMI cable coming from the car.
