The difference between Fleury and Yakupov was that Fleury’s was in a game 6 overtime and Yakupovs was a tying goal in a nothing game.

Ref fucked the oilers seconds before and yak scored to essentially tie the game again.
Fans at the game loved it!

@@LoveableLay It was obviously a weee bit (lol) over the top but the fact the refs absolutely hosed the OIlers just seconds earlier made the tying goal extra sweet. Not at all comparable to the magnitude of the Fleury goal though, certainly agreed there.

This is actually most likely going to be the future of hockey, especially with the social media era, these kind of crazy celebrations that can be made into GIFS and can trend and let the players show personality is going to benefit the popularity of the league...just like how the bat flip has become acceptable the kids coming up don't care

    • @invaderjaymz

@@kiroolioneaver8532 I don't think it will happen. Being a pro hockey player is a subculture. It's a subculture that frowns upon clowns. Look at what happened to that loser Evander Kane in Winnipeg. Buff threw his stupid track suit in the shower because acting like a fool is prohibited with the players on the team and in the league. If you are right, I think it will take years for that culture to shift in that direction.

The first NHL game I attended was 1977-78 or so, Blackhawks vs. Colorado Rockies in Denver with Grapes behind the CO bench. 2-1 Chicago winding down in the 3rd and DC hasn't pulled the goalie for 6th attacker. A fan a few rows in front of me yells "Hey Cherry, there's 2 minutes left, do you know what the f*ckin' score is?!?"

Cherry never saw the whole game, it was THE worst officiated game in the history of the NHL. It wasn't that Yakupov was showboating, it was to show up the refs. Before he lambastes Yakupov, maybe do some research. There was more tripping, hooking, high sticks that I've ever seen let go, L. A. should have had at least 15 penalties, they might have got two. I'm glad the old loud mouth coot is gone.
