Don is a absolute legend and bee my hero my whole life you need a podcast and speak your mind because all us old-time hockey fans and die hard hockey fans miss you grapes
You're probably right, but Tie isn't quite the same fighter now that he's in his 50's. Or did you mean if they both played in the 2000's NHL during Tie Domi's time? Because everybody would have been beating up Max when he was 8 years old.
The team you need to make a run for the playoffs is very different from the team you need to have a run in the playoffs. you have to have some guys that can play heavy in the playoffs or you wont get far. The regular season is so different, even the way the penalties are called is so different
Great video, as usual Don is 100% right on. All us Grapes fans sure miss his nightly opinions on "Hockey Night". Now we have to put up with Ron Mclean's boring and useless "Rogers Hometown Hockey" with Tara Sloan, a soap opera actress who knows NOTHING about hockey. Sloan is just a cheesy smiling face, who was hired by Mclean to push corporate products like GM. Hockey fans are being manipulated by Mclean and it ain't right.
@@Troyjanwarrior1 Kane's been great and brings good toughness but he's almost too good offensively to waste him sitting in the box or risk breaking a hand from fighting. If only Kassian could play at a 3rd line level so he could be playable 15 minutes per game instead of 5 or being scratched now. I know they keep throwing him out onto the higher lines but he's an absolute liability out there now
Teams don't appreciate being fortunate enough to have a Top Notch Fighter, they think "Fighter?!?! We Can Get Anybody To Do That Job" when in fact getting a guy who can play well, and do the Fighting is one THE more difficult acquisitions for a team pull off.
The Ducks wanted their backup goalie to get his 6th career shutout. Anthony Stolarz was at the blue line ready to scrap, but he would’ve been penalized and lost the win
Star player or not, you had better be prepared for some rough weather jumping in to a group realizing dance partners are not pre-determined. Other option is stay out, but there would be no story if he did fine in this fight.
Grapes, right as usual. It is an unfortunate time trading the ducks enforcers and getzlaf out at the time. You know this kind of stuff spills over to next season though. Expect a response on beagle next year. If he is still playing with 1 goal per season.
Terry ran into the scrum throwing a big punch. Beagle did exactly what he should have, and I don't think that he even knew who he was being attacked by. Terry needs to smarten up and not play victim.
Dumb take. They were tied up for a bit and Terry never even dropped his gloves. It’s called a hockey scrum, you grab a guy to prevent it from being unfair, but you don’t fight the #1 player on the team like that. Jay Beagle will 99% retire because he won’t have the balls to face Carrick next season.
@@AcesWildMMA Pff, your take is dumb. He didn't grab him, he came charging in hard with his hands up. Terry went straight for the guy who put Zegras down after somebody else had already started to engage him. You don't do that unless you want some. Well, Terry got some and now you want to cry.
@@AcesWildMMA Because mostly young people are on the internet and have the time to waste, thus they're most likely pansy-ass millennials and Gen-z'ers who should watch baseball instead of crying about how hockey hurts their sensitivities and needs to cater to their feelings. You know, the kind who need "Likes" to make them feel like a worthy part of the crowd.
Dissapointed, thought you might have commented on what actually happened between Beagle and Terry. Plus the rest of the story as to why the whole scrum started. Back in the old days, Terry would have never grabbed a guy like Beagle from behind in a scrum like that (it would be like Selani/Gretzky grabbing McCarthy/Probert). Why? Self preservation. Kid got worked because he grabbed the biggest guy in a middle of a scrum with an out of reach score (5-0), after his teammate jabbed at the goalie, you gotta be aware of your surroundings. I feel bad for Terry, he doesn't know what he is doing, so he gets worked out of ignorance. Beagle was doing his job, standing up for his goalie, teaching a lesson to the kids.
Jay got his ass kicked by Arron Asham when he was a rookie and had to be carried off the ice.. he was knocked out cold..and Asham held him so he didn't slam his head on the ice.. difference with that was Jay wanted too fight. Anyway that's Hockey!!
Jay jumped Troy Terry,, Terry did not nor was ready to fight or even take his gloves off.. that was anattack.. Jay and asham was a fair fight that Jay lost
No idea why this is a conversation? Arrin Asham laid out gay beagle with one punch I mean obliviated his face. Gay Beagle isn't in the same league as mcsorley, domi, Probert or anyone ever. He's like a janitor. I mean really? This ismt even a discussion The End.
That wasn't the issue though. All Beagle did was hit a guy from poking his young goalie. One of the few bright spots the Yotes have is Vejmelka. And remember Keller got spun into the boards vs Sharks. It was a blowout game. Terry jumped in, that's fine, and Beagle beat him up. Now, to be fair, Beagle went too far, but it's a fight. And Beagle only had like 5 career fights, which granted blows some players away, but still, not a regular fighter. Just one that got away. And yes, the goal and it's 5-0, but the same thing could have happened at 2-0. Funny thing is, PK Subban jumped Wahlstrom on the Isles for a relatively clean hit on Hughes gets a 2,5,10 and nobody says a thing. Selanne complains and Beagle is the worst man in hockey. Funny. Not saying it's right, it's not, but it's not rollerskating either. Guys should know if you fight, that can happen. It's kind of similar to the Wilson thing last year, he whaled on the Ranger star and was the worst person ever. So basically that's it, Teemu whines and the Ducks lose the fight and Rogers makes a big fuss about it.
Terry wasn’t fighting though. That’s the problem. I don’t get what’s so hard to realize here. Terry grabbed a guy, didn’t jump him didn’t even grab him aggressively. Beagle saw an opportunity and jumped on it. Guaranteed Carrick takes care of Beagle is he mans up, which I doubt he does.
@@btgkg9639 obviously you grab a guy you're fighting him. He wasn't going over there to give him baked cookies, and if he's that dumb he deserved it. Like a famous guy once said, mess with the bull, get the horn
