Have you ever heard about "hroes," a phenomenal, to say the least, technique? In a nutshell, if harmonics can add three more notes in a single string, then "hroes" can add up to eleven! Eleven, you got it right! Can you imagine what you can do with such a music range on your lyre?
HROES (2022) is an original song composed by Lina Palera, a world-renowned lyre player and a much-beloved lyre tutor who teaches hroes in a Lyre Masterclass available exclusively at the LyreAcademy.com. According to her, "This masterclass is especially designed for the very few willing to take their lyre playing to the next level, and unlock the secrets for producing crystal-clear notes using hroes."
Lina performs on her custom ancient lyre, masterfully handcrafted by the LUTHIEROS family in Greece.

I'm here from gibis video and I am in love with this music. I wish I could afford to buy a lyre. 😭 I can feel my heart sing, my body harmonize with each note, my mind cry out all emotions and I feel myself melt into the music...I want to study music so bad 😭 I can feel it in my bones. I always have.
Welcome, Smilley00! The ancient lyre is a great musical instrument to introduce you to the world of music, and it was the one mostly used in ancient Greece to teach music both to children and adults. What's more, thanks to the work of the LyreAcademy team, today anyone can study this magnificent instrument no matter where she or he lives!

That was tecnically mind blowing.
I could not think that all that could be played on seven strings.
I want one badly now.
I know that this is going to be my instrument.....after 73 years of life!!!!!
I just love it.
Thank you Lena.
I hope I spelt it right.
Hello Peter! We are so glad you seem to have found your calling in the lyre! Indeed, Lina is one of the world’s virtuoso lyre players, and her technical expertise leaves even us speechless!
Incredible! Adding up to eleven notes per string! Very interesting about using Pythagoras' work.
Exactly! 11 × 7 ?....... wow ! :-)
Thanks for the comment, Will! There are so many possibilities on the ancient lyre that we just began to unfold and discover. :)

hi, I am from Bangladesh. recently I discovered lyre by seikilo. And I become a great fan of this instrument. I didn't find a lyre in our local musical instrument shop so I am trying to make my lyre. by the way, I am a Craftsman, but not a musician. if my lyre works, then it will be my first instrument. keep uploading new compositions. from long distance I am waiting.....
Thanks for the comment, Erfan! The ancient Greek lyre is an amazing musical instrument, ideal for both beginners and advanced musicians. So, whenever you manage to build your own lyre, try to play it soon, and you will be quickly rewarded.
Stay tuned, as more videos will keep premiering on our channel every week! :)
Erfan, that’s amazing! I hope you’ll share updates as you build your lyre. Greetings from the USA. ❤️

Thank you, Christopher, for your amazing comment! :)
Just incredible! Beautiful! Wonderful! Thank you!!! Greetings from Brazil.
Ooooh Brazil.... so great! Greetings also from Greece! ❤
@@linapalera , What an honor! Here in Brazil I record books and use songs as an introduction to the content before reading it. I already used music with you playing when I recorded Aristotle, de Anima - for example [ ruclips.net/video/qcdM7Ejfiss/видео.html ]. I use only one excerpt of the song, with due credits in the description! Your work's admirable! Love it! ♥ ps: hope you don't mind using a piece of it in the work of mine.
Thanks for the comment, and your great words, Le Conde! We are working closely with our affiliate artists to bring more pieces of ancient-inspired music to life, so your support is much appreciated.
You can actually use melodies from all our channels, including Lina's songs of course, as long as you credit the artists (as you already did!), and the channel!
For the latter, a simple "Listen to more Ancient World Music at ruclips.net/user/seikilo" is more than enough. :)
Best from Greece, and our love to Brazil!

This is truly beautiful! It makes me want to pick up the lyre!
You should, Simplecaveman! :) It is a perfect instrument to introduce yourself to the world of music (it was the one used in ancient Greece to teach music to youngsters). But, even if you are an advanced musician, it is the ideal instrument to push your boundaries further, as you can see in this video!

Hauntingly beautiful. I love it. Thank you for the gift of your creativity to the world and to Luthieros for making such fine instruments.
Thank you very much, Mary, for the amazing comment!
It is a collaborative outcome, with a lot of different artists taking part and with a lot of painstakingly long hours, days, months, and years of experimentations and a mindset of constant trials-and-errors.
But, yes, the outcome is so beautiful and powerful; the feedback is so rewarding that every hour dedicated already, or we will keep dedicating in the future, is undoubtedly well spent! :)
Wonderful Lina thank you 🙏🏻

I have listened to this many times now. I hardly know how to play an instrument but this makes me want to learn.
Glad you liked it, Megan! If you are up to learn any kind of musical instrument, then the lyre is an ideal option for every beginner, as it is very rewarding and straight-forward from the very start! :)

Hi Lina, I really love your music! I just learned how to play harmonics, getting better at doing playing with both hands. If I wanted to try this, which plectrum would you recommend? Also I have a 9 string lyre of Hermes from Luthieros; this one looks different, is this a different instrument? Thanks ☺️
Thanks for watching and for your comment! Good job on gradually mastering the harmonics technique. Hroes is the next level in your lyre learning, and you can find a whole masterclass focusing on this one at lyreacademy.com/masterclasses/
As for the plectrum, you can find it at luthieros.com/product/ancient-lyre-plectrum-two-animal-bone-authentic-ancient-pick-for-stringed-instruments-top-quality-artefact-actual-playing-pickv/. It is the first from the left!
Last, the lyre featured in this video is an older version of the LUTHIEROS Lyre of Hermes. Since then, the lyre has been significantly enhanced thanks to the constant research and the work of Master Luthiers of the Koumartzis family. So, yours is probably the new enhanced model! :)
Lina, in my kness I beg to you, please, I need to hear La Llorona on a lyre, its a beautiful mexican song, and I think it may sound great on the lyre, hope you can read this, thanks a lot
Great suggestion, Emilio! We just got a reply from Lina, and she said that she will give it a try! So, in case you haven't already, subscribe to our channel to stay tuned: ruclips.net/user/seikilo
@@SEIKILO thanks!! I'll be waiting
Do you have a video of how to play the different notes using a plectum on one string?
I just found it in your master course!
Hi, Chiaki! You can find all the available masterclasses, including the one on Hroes, here: lyreacademy.com/masterclasses/
It sounds just so amazing. I recently bought just a modern small lyre on Amazon. And I just want to know if I were to get an ancient replica one what one would you suggest for a beginner
Thanks for listening, Zed! Concerning ancient lyres, the best option out there (both in terms of quality and of what you get for the price) is the LUTHIEROS lyres, handcrafted in Greece by a luthiers' family with immaculate reputation and great after-sales support.
Take a look at their great variety of available lyres at luthieros.com/
Would you say the lyre of aphrodite would be the best for a beginner?
@@zeddennhardt You can't go wrong with any of Luthieros' lyres. The lyre is a great instrument for any level of player - in my experience, the difficulty comes in developing advanced techniques, and employing those techniques is the same on any lyre. You may find it helpful to begin with fewer strings, but you may also find yourself wanting to learn advanced techniques more quickly when you have fewer strings.
The most important thing is to choose the model that you know you'll pick up day after day. They're all equally accessible to a beginner, so have a listen to the examples of Luthieros' models on RUclips and be confident that whatever one sings to you is the one for you!
Is this on aphrodite?

Hello what kind of Plektrum is this? Where to buy? On your website I see 3 different plectrums but non of then looks like the one you use here. Please more info :) thank you
Thanks for the comment! The plectrum in this video is mostly wooden with a tip made of animal bone. It is ideal for producing clear notes, also with a following ancient-like buzzing sound. It is the middle one in the first photo of this page: luthieros.com/product/ancient-lyre-plectrum-two-animal-bone-authentic-ancient-pick-for-stringed-instruments-top-quality-artefact-actual-playing-pickv/
Keep in mind that these plectrums are handcrafted, meaning that none two of them are exactly the same. They serve the same way, though, the musician all of them. :)
