I'm glad the hard part of Ship Building will be getting the Skills for it unlocked and getting the Credits raked in for getting the stuff to make the Ship with, not trying to figure out how to actually build the Ship. :)
Not very small. I think he did a brief showing of that in the last video. There seems to be about 10 components that are a must, and most look pretty big. So, sadly you won't be flying in a P-51 with a grav drive taped to the back. (Not until mods that is)
I really know they weren't going to, but it would have been amazing if they had fighters, then frigates, Corvettes and maybe destroy that the player could use. I really hope one day before I'm too old to play games. Something like X4 and this game or NMS combined comes out.
You can't put anything under that cockpit because it has a weapon slot on the bottom. And some of the hangars have different entry methods some have ladders up and some have doors in the rear. Even if it connects if it's a door at the rear and it's on the bottom with no hab connected to it, it will throw an error that it can't access the cockpit.

I can't help but to wonder how many people will try to get away with sideways mounting the Docker onto the back of the Ship to make the Ship look like it's Docking the Ship onto the target with its Butt. 🙄 21:20ish... I like how the cheapness of quality of the Ship managed to so suitably analog the cheapness of the quality of the tactical judgement that came after. ;P
I keep getting destroyed by a level 12 bounty hunter. Still have starter ship. I guess buy a new one or build one. Only have 50k rn though. I did build a small outpost too. This game is amazing!!!!

You missed some stuff out, when building a ship, where do all the parts come from ? when you find a ship and claim it, is it better to sell it, keep it, or dismantle it, i presume when you dismantle it thats where the parts are coming from ?
How did that go I can only make small upgrades that I'm not sure are worth the money 🤷🏻♂️ Like shield to 355 instead of 310 Or engines to 11000 instead of 10000 🤔 And those would have cost all the money I have
@adversHandle I would wait until you have some money. After that, it becomes easier to change de modules. The really important ones are on the expense side, like the shields.
I've got 24 hrs since ea launch and havnt even started building ships I'm glad you did this video because I'm to the point where I'll need a bigger ship to deal with all the resources I have 😂
I found the mantis Ship and upgraded my cargo to over 2k, thats helping but it was a bit of work because i had to add 2 more landing gear and that was alot of pickapart artistry LOL, i love this game@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning
Great vid, but just a couple of things. Thanks for taking the time doing this. 1. If I had cargo in the cargo hold. what happens to it all if I sell the cargo bay and cargo holders. 2, Camera, can you place the camera in a spot where it's not covering the main lists we look at? either bottom left, lower down on right, or not at all. 3. The cockpit didn't fit where you wanted it due to the shape of it... you needed to view it from the side and you will notice it's was clipping into the landing bay when red, due to it's shape. Thanks
Just a reply to #1 for everyone else.... I had items on my ship floor (resources, books, weapons, armour etc.) because my cargo was full. I "edited my ship". and voila EVERYTHING went into my cargo hold.... even the stuff that were there from the start, coffee blender, stand pots & pans.
Seriously this is the only starfield channel that isnt just a ton of boring drama or some guy trying to "make you a millionaire" *cough* Ginger Prime *cough* Its just good information and good vibes.

Bethesda really missed out not putting in hotas support. I'm not crazy about the space combat. My 2nd time off planet I was obliterated 3 times in a row by a pair of ships that put 2 bursts into me.
So I'm new to the game haven't done too many main missions I don't see anything where it says to add ship parts do you have to progress through a certain part of the main story before you have parts?
I find the controls to look around the ship to be so ass backwards I can’t even do it. I understand the rest I just feel like I’m training to perform surgery with dominate hand tied behind my back.
So I need help idk if I really screwed up or what so I was suppose to go do the rook meets king mission and I put it off to do some different missions and now when I go to the key I walk In and a guy runs up to me giving me two options both are to fight and die what can I do I’m level 12 do I have reload my save where I’m level 7 and not put it off or can I go some place to pay for good rep again ?
i like how instead of using the one w/ starfield rank 1 you used something that we would all have clutch! and you are not just using the most expensive stuff with that fat stack of money you are showing us actual good upgrade not just....buy the expensive stuff noobs haha
I dont know it's unlocked later but, I really hope theres way to put things internal like fuel tanks, drives and stuff later. I still think its a huge misied opportunity not to have a land vehicle. It'd be so cool to build a cargo bay for it. Especially since they say you can explore the whole world.
@@miragemain105 currently after watching more and more reviews doesn't seem to matter much cause you just fast travel everywhere and don't really need to be in your ship. Seems to take a lot of the fun out of the idea of ship capturing,smuggling,and being a pirate or something. Still impressed by the stability of it though I haven't read much of the crashing issues, that normally plague Bethesda games.
You can't explore the whole world in the sense you're probably meaning. Plus like the other have stated, you just fill up your inventory and fast travel back to your ship.

Some habs have more variants(u can see grey discontinued lines sort of icons just below the name of selected hab), u can cycle through them with lft n rght arrow keys in pc it changes like captains cabin, computer core, workshop, science etc. Workshop hab will have all workshops, science will have research table, captains cabin will have tea table n navigation table etc. I don't know if u can interior design habs.
My game glitched and i lost all carry weight when making Santas trident... which is a big problem if youre playing as Santa in space. Dont go to homesteader. I changed ships and all assets get transfered to the new one, but i could still take off with it, but my carry weight suffered for it.
EVERY time I try to upgrade I get errors stating that either the reactor isn't powerful enough for the mass, the engine's aren't powerful enough or BOTH!!! When I upgrade any one of them, I still get errors. All I was trying to do was put the top shields, engine, shielded cargo unit and upgrade weapons. Is that too much!? lol
What happens to your old ship weapons when you buy new ones? I was under the impression that you could collect weapon systems but it doesn’t seem like you can :(
My biggest problem is the interior. I'll have ladders spawned sporadically inside, not connected between all floors, even if it's set up the same as another ship that does have all ladders connected. And the rooms won't spawn doorways to connect to the rooms next to them. In the big ship I've built all floors are accessible but you can only get to half of one floor through one ladder set and the other half with another as it won't spawn doorways to all the connections
first planet I was surveying, I stole my first ship and deleted everything but the giant gas tanks, Reactor and Gravdrive, and built my ship from there.
Glad I watched this video since I couldn’t figure out in game how to add new parts. Seems a bad design you have to add parts to an empty part of the grid and then move them instead of selecting the attachment point then adding. Basic in game tutorial would have helped
From certain angles the "cheap" ship reminded me of a Firefly class ship. So far I'm finding the UI very clunky and counterintuitive so any help is appreciated.
I have a problem I hope someone can help me with. Loving the game and have taken many photos, but realised just now that none of the photos have been saved, on my PC or in galleries in the game. Have spent hours looking for a solution on the web but cant find any. Playing on PC, steam. Love the game, love the channel!
@ghhvhgvhgv3848 I don't think you can decorate your ship, no. I could be wrong, but I've not seen a way or reason to have to do that. The ships are pretty much predecorated. You can buy houses and build outposts though.
Stolen ships become your own. I don't think (not sure) that you can move parts from one ship to another though, I think each is it's own separate thing.
There are some parts that you have to the spaceship design skill to use, but if the star port you’re at doesn’t have decent upgrades, just try a different port.

You get like 5K just for joining the Vanguard as well. Money's pretty easy to come by in the game if you do missions. Selling junk usually isn't worth the money. I'd sell like weapons, suits, and ships if you can commandeer any. By the time I got to Level 6, I had 30K and that was enough to overhaul the Frontier.
Speaking of ship building. To tell you how bad I suck at that kind of thing. The vehicle building in Banjo Nuts & Bolts was out of my league, totally was too much for me so I deleted the game. Zelda Tears of The Kingdom's building was too much for me too. I could put wheels on a flat board and move, that's my engineering limit.
Im quite frustrated with the building cuz when i try use some highprice stuff it says that my reactor class isnt sufficiant but its a class and the highest and best i can buy by now...anyone maybe have sum advise 🤔😅
Out of general curiosity how far into the game do you need to go to build and get your first ship? Like only one day into early access would people have gotten to that point yet?

What percentage of time do you think is split between Space combat and Land combat? You have to spend a ton of Skill points to max out a Shipmaster build, but I wasn't sure it would be worth it if most of the fighting is actually on land.
So far I've done way more ground combat but like someone else said that's entirely up to how you want to play. If you're worried about contact in space don't worry, there is plenty.
Still worth upgrading the starter ship when possible. I'm like 5 hours into my playthrough and got stuck in a loop of my ship being destroyed on a quest. Put my next goal as upgrading the ship, making money from the Ryujen quests to fund it
Hey! I desperately need a basic selling tutorial. Just spent a long mission trying to drop items like spacesuits that it said were worth 7k then the shop only offered about 700. Then it’s giving me war ing every time about not getting it’s original value. So confusing.
You can't sell things for their actual value, it's like a percentage of the value. You can increase your economy skill (I forget it's actual name) to increase the amount things sell for and decrease the amount things cost.
Found it in case anyone else had the same question they are at hope town in the valo system they have really interesting habitats like a spine that you can walk through
The ship builder fascinates me, but it seems there's confirmation they havent' bothered to add HOTAS support for flying one around with. Until that's patched in (which I hope's soon), shan't be getting it. Mouse/keyboard just isn't intuitive enough for piloting something with and piloting my own ship design was a major part of the desirability of this.
@@TwistedSisler It never has for me. Maybe back in the days of Microprose's 'F-15 Strike Eagle 2' and CGA graphics. Because keyboard was the only option (and didn't even have a mouse). Ever since then, though... Flightstick all the way!
My only complaint with ship-building has been how fickle it can be sometimes, especially when you have several different nodes on stacked on top of each other.
So apparently, they made it possible to build a big, pondersome freighter with low maneuverability and a large crew, but forgot to include auto tracking turrets as weapons so it can amply defend itself? Even when it would have been a no-brainer to include those, maybe even Millenium Falcon style manned quad cannons? Yeah, looks like modders need to fix this oversight again. or maybe they'll come via DLC?
the ship building was very daunting, but i just spent a good 20 minutes messing around with it, and now it feels VERY intuitive. i like it alot

That's what I was hoping for as well . If I steal a ship with some better parts it would be nice to be able to swap those out
that would have been nice but removed parts get sold when you accept the changes unless I'm doing it wrong.
You can sell the parts and use the credits to upgrade your other ship

What determines the class of a ship? Can you upgrade the ship class? Sorry if I missed or misunderstood that in the video.
If I remember correctly, it was the reactor that determines that. Class B reactor = Class B ship, and so on.

What happens to your cargo if you make a no cargo ship your home ship?
Are there cargo holds or store rooms you can walk into? As in walk in and and put your things in cotainers?
The cargo hold is just a part that increases your ship's storage capacity, but there are storeroom modules you can place onto your ship.

It didn't attach because the bottom of the cockpit has a curve which gets blocked by the landing gear

You get like 5K just for joining the Vanguard as well. Money's pretty easy to come by in the game if you do missions. Selling junk usually isn't worth the money. I'd sell like weapons, suits, and ships if you can commandeer any. By the time I got to Level 6, I had 30K and that was enough to overhaul the Frontier.
Speaking of ship building. To tell you how bad I suck at that kind of thing. The vehicle building in Banjo Nuts & Bolts was out of my league, totally was too much for me so I deleted the game. Zelda Tears of The Kingdom's building was too much for me too. I could put wheels on a flat board and move, that's my engineering limit.
Im quite frustrated with the building cuz when i try use some highprice stuff it says that my reactor class isnt sufficiant but its a class and the highest and best i can buy by now...anyone maybe have sum advise 🤔😅

Out of general curiosity how far into the game do you need to go to build and get your first ship? Like only one day into early access would people have gotten to that point yet?
within the first 10 minutes you get your ship and within 20 you can start customizing it, assuming you don't go mining/looting the early locations.

@@TwistedSisler that's why I included the "assuming you don't" because I did the same thing, started scanning and mining immediately before jumping into space
What percentage of time do you think is split between Space combat and Land combat? You have to spend a ton of Skill points to max out a Shipmaster build, but I wasn't sure it would be worth it if most of the fighting is actually on land.
I believe ship building is like a end game thing. Cost lots of money unless you use cheat code for money.

It's all up to choice. You can do a LOT of ship combat floating around in space. Even more if you're cool with being a pirate
So far I've done way more ground combat but like someone else said that's entirely up to how you want to play. If you're worried about contact in space don't worry, there is plenty.
Still worth upgrading the starter ship when possible. I'm like 5 hours into my playthrough and got stuck in a loop of my ship being destroyed on a quest. Put my next goal as upgrading the ship, making money from the Ryujen quests to fund it
please tell me why I cant have over a certain mass.
If your mass gets to a certain point, you have to have better or more engines to compensate.

Hey! I desperately need a basic selling tutorial. Just spent a long mission trying to drop items like spacesuits that it said were worth 7k then the shop only offered about 700. Then it’s giving me war ing every time about not getting it’s original value. So confusing.
You can't sell things for their actual value, it's like a percentage of the value. You can increase your economy skill (I forget it's actual name) to increase the amount things sell for and decrease the amount things cost.

The ship builder fascinates me, but it seems there's confirmation they havent' bothered to add HOTAS support for flying one around with.
Until that's patched in (which I hope's soon), shan't be getting it. Mouse/keyboard just isn't intuitive enough for piloting something with and piloting my own ship design was a major part of the desirability of this.
Mouse and keyboard feels good for me.
@@TwistedSisler It never has for me. Maybe back in the days of Microprose's 'F-15 Strike Eagle 2' and CGA graphics. Because keyboard was the only option (and didn't even have a mouse).

My only complaint with ship-building has been how fickle it can be sometimes, especially when you have several different nodes on stacked on top of each other.
So apparently, they made it possible to build a big, pondersome freighter with low maneuverability and a large crew, but forgot to include auto tracking turrets as weapons so it can amply defend itself? Even when it would have been a no-brainer to include those, maybe even Millenium Falcon style manned quad cannons? Yeah, looks like modders need to fix this oversight again. or maybe they'll come via DLC?
