Miroslav Vitous - Solar (Live Solo Bass in 1990)

Here's an excellent recording of internationally acclaimed bassist/composer and Weather Report co-founder Miroslav Vitous playing the jazz standard "Solar" along with some pre recorded percussion. This entirely solo concert took place in Bath, England on June the 5th in 1990.

Thanks for posting this! While I still prefer his rendition of Milestones you posted years ago, I like this one too. I like Weather Report's early stuff the best and that's partly because of him. Great bassist!

You're welcome my friend. Yes, I agree that the Milestones recording is up another notch musially. Miroslav is one of the greats for sure and an early proponent of lead bass. Check out his 1970 album "Infinite Search" for a great example of this, if you haven't done so already.

I had the privilege to see Miroslav Vitous there's almost 40 years ago in solo. This bassist is simply incredible! Each piece, each theme, each note played by this virtuoso was a pure enchantment. Thank you for posting this soundtrack video.

The Miroslav Vitous solo i prefer is "MIROVISION" on Chick Coréa live in Europe (1984) with Roy Haynes on drums
