    Dear Andrew,
    Yes!! Yes!! Yes!!
    I tried an OrangeTheory class August 1st because a friend had told me about it.
    - Immediately I realized that in those 55 minutes I put in MORE effort than I EVER had done before in ANY form of exercise! Similar to what you had talked about in your Week One.
    - I just bumped into your RUclips because I was showing my boyfriend about the ALS challenge that was going on and then there was your RUclips from Week One OrangeTheory.
    - I am enjoying listening to your experience! Thanks!!!🤗💪🏃‍♀️

    I haven't been back to the gym in over a year since we've adopted our daughter and with being a school district administrator, it's so hard to fit everything in! I stepped on a scale at a friend's place this past Monday and saw a number I've never seen before - YIKES! and that was my impetus for getting back in shape. I ended up researching a ton of different gym options and was dreading heading back to the gym, and then came across Orangetheory. A little further research brought me to your videos (specifically this one) and it got me motivated to go, and....................................I love it! Seriously, it's engaging, motivating, energizing - it keeps you accountable as well! Everything you've said in your videos about it is spot on and I am so psyched! I enrolled Tuesday and was able to get into class and then went Wednesday and yesterday (today's a rest day), but I'm super pumped to get back there tomorrow morning. I already feel a change not only physically, but have better mental clarity! Thank you for your awesome posts - it makes me feel like I'm not the only one out there trying to do this - I mean you hear people doing this all the time, but the way you put things makes it seem so much more relatable! In the words of Jazz legend, Clark Terry, "Keep on keepin' on!"

      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад

      Jared, this is absolutely amazing!! Isn’t OT spectacular? NEVER in my life could I have imaged myself being so into exercising 🤣🤣
      As much as you say I’ve encouraged you, this thoughtful comment has encouraged me! Thank you for watching and joining in on my journey. I hope to hear more about your progress! We can do this, man!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

    The 1st tip is one of the best tips you can give anyone Orange Theory or not. I like to meditate before working out and it kind of helps me get in a mindset of just focusing on whatever task is at hand rather than stressing about how "hard" something is going to be or if I'll have enough "time". Just do it and be done with it, you can think about how hard it was after.

    I LOVE OTF. I've been doing it for about three years and absolutely enjoy it. My main tip is do not do less than three classes a week. The more often you go the less painful it becomes. I go 5 times a week now and it is SO much more enjoyable than when I did 2 or 3. Second tip, learn how to trick your brain into doing things whether by dividing things into smaller segments or counting down instead of up (for example, I divide the 1 minute all out into 8 the first 30 seconds and 8.5 the last 30). Lastly, and I cannot stress this enough do not comprimise your posture on the floor. Ask if you're not sure, reduce the wieght or slow down but never comprimise because you'll get injured ... My shoulders are so bad now bcs of making that mistake. It is also good to go when it is crowded and full of motivated people. I see how well it impacts me when there's someone good in the next station that I can pace myself with. Also, accept the fact that you will have bad day. Showing up is half of the battle as my instructor says.

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад

      Hala, WOW! I’m taking all of this to heart. I completely understand when you say having motivated people around you helps. Also, the 3x a week rule is very smart. Thanks for giving me these tips (and thanks for watching!!) 🙏🏼

    Great video! I agree 100% with all your tips. I've been doing OTF for hmmm almost 8 months now (had to look it up!) and while I am still just trying to maintain going 3x a week it is challenging every time. I could completely relate to your other videos, and I love how you are so positive and real about your journey. Fun fact: the way I decided to hold myself accountable is by spontaneously posting a photo of me in my bra and underwear (no joke) on Instagram. And yes, ever since then everyone asks me how it's going and I know I have to go because I don't want to disappoint or feel like a hypocrite! All the best to you!!!

    I just started Orange Theory on Saturday. Yesterday was my second class. I hated even the idea of working out before I started OTF but knew I needed to start working out so I be healthier, and now I'm obsessed!!! I came across your videos because I was trying to see if anyone had a preference between the heart rate monitor that they wear across their chest or the one they wear on their arm, and this video was the first thing to pop it. Thank you for the great advice on OTF. I'm excited to continue pushing myself in my fitness journey and excited to keep watching your videos!

    I've been going to Orange Theory for about a year-and-a-half. And I agree, number three is a very important tip. I think about where I was when I started to where I am now and if you're comparing yourself to others in the class you may not know exactly where they are in their Orange Theory Journey which may discourage you. Now I do like to look at others for the encouragement to push myself a little harder but also being aware of when my body says you're going at your maximum best. And that's a tip I would have added is push yourself a little harder because you're stronger than you think.

    Dude! Thanks for doing these! I have been a hardcore OTF'er for a few years now but these last 6 months life has taken over in a bad way and I hadn't been. Going from 3-4 times a week to nothing sucked but I just wasn't making the time to go and instead working insanely long hours. Saw your video and got my ass to class today! Everyone was so happy to see me, I missed them all so much. So, thanks for the kick ;-) Now, time for bed - going again tomorrow morning!

      I'm so sorry that life has taken that turn for you, friend. I'm beyond honored that my vids helped get you back up! I hope your workout today was amazing and I hope you continue to kick this year's butt!! 🔥 We're in this together so keep me updated with everything. I just finished watching all your OT videos, I did leave a long comment week 1 but your transformation prompted me to leave another. Everything you say so accurate. I also found that after 2 or 3 months having a regular class is really helpful. I had never done an class prior to trying OT but aside from the penalty for no show I have a group that all seem to enjoy working out together and we seem to be accountable to each other. Keep it up....

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад

      Ah thank you!! I totally agree about the regular class thing. I’m still trying out different ones to see what works best for my schedule. I was doing nights, but I think mornings may work better actually (even though I’m dreading waking up that early 🤣😂)

  • @rhelburn
    @rhelburn 6 лет назад +2

    LOL love this! I've been going to OTF since mid December and I too am addicted. My friends think I've joined a cult! It's all that I talk about. I love the fact that it's personal training in a group setting. I've made some great friends that are in my regular class and we keep each other accountable. And how about those coaches??? Isn't it amazing how they basically teach three different classes with three different fitness levels, and also know each person individually, as well as where they are with their fitness goals? Anyway, I think your tips are spot on, especially to just focus on yourself. There are days where a college football player will be on one side of me, and someone who's never worked out before on the other. We all support each other and high fives are always plentiful! Keep it going! #otf

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад +1

      YES YES YES! I agree with all of this! I sometimes wonder how many times I say "Orangetheory" in a day haha! I have to tell myself to shut up at times because I know people are waiting on me to stop talking about it every 5 seconds LOL. The thing is, I'm still just so blown away that it's working for me (someone who never could "get it together" in terms of my health) that I can't stop raving. And yes, the coaches are a huge part of why I joined and stay with OTF. You would expect them to be intimidating, but they are the opposite, actually! Thank you so much for watching, Robin! KEEP BURNING 👊🏼

    • @TuckerPearce
      @TuckerPearce 6 лет назад

      Andrew Coleman Smith no not at all. You select another location in the app and register for the class. Sometimes the first visit you have to call but all return visits to a studio you can do from the app unless they are on a waitlist which then again you have to call to be added to (kind of lame). But no the studio puts your HR Info in their system and if you give them the correct email sends you the results. Your main or home studio still has your HR monitor in their system so nothing changes there.

    I'm a pretty large person and I go to the gym, but I never know what to do to get results. Is this class something a beginner would actually be able to keep up with or not?

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад +4

      ABSOLUTELY!!! Nothing has ever worked for me except Orangetheory. There’s just something (well lots of somethings) about it. The classes are very diverse in terms of fitness levels -truly a workout class for anyone!
      I’ve wanted to get fit my whole life and for whatever reason, this not only makes me excited to workout (something I thought I would NEVERRR say), but it actually works. It’s hard, but it’s all laid out for you, which makes it easier. Just follow the coaches (who are totally understanding of where you’re at in your journey) and you’ll see results FAST. First class is free so you have nothing to lose to at least check it out!! Keep me updated with how you like it if you do. I totally believe in this. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼

      The Staff and Coaches are so kind to all of us!
      - I am 65 years old and I never never get a feeling that they aren’t as nice to me as they are to the 25 and 35-year-olds.
      - people of all shapes and sizes and ages can go to an OrangeTheory class and as Andrew says, and feel good about what they did when they leave.👍

    Thanks Andrew. I joined OTF a couple months ago but I dont attend consistently. When I do attend, I feel so defeated when I leave. (Ridiculous Insecurity) I am overweight and joined because I knew and still BELIEVE this workout will pull me out of my comfort zone. What do you suggest I do to overcome my NEGATIVE THINKING?

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад +6

      The main thing I’ve learned is to not even TRY to get over negative thinking. You go and you workout WITH your negative thoughts. I know for me, the more I try to get over my bad thinking the worse it gets sometimes (I have some anxiety issues I haven’t discussed on here yet). On my bad days, I just ignore myself and try to keep in mind that ONE DAY I will be so thankful I went ahead and went to class and did my best!
      For the record, after my first class I felt DOWN. I honestly felt that I couldn’t do this. But I forced myself to sign up and I’m getting the hang of it class by class now. I know for me, it’s better when I don’t skip too many classes, because that makes it harder when I do go back, so I would suggest being more consistent with your classes. Your brain will catch up if you leave it behind 💪🏼 hope this helps a little. Thank you for watching and reaching out!!! Together we are GONNA crush 2018 goals!!!!

      dee s-r I've been doing OTF for about 10-11 months now and I was just like you when I first started. I got super nervous before going to every class and after my first one, I never wanted to go back. My boyfriend pushed me to keep at it and I'm so glad I did. It gets better the more you go and you feel so much more confident. Don't ever feel too down. Everyone there is supporting you! Most inclusive thing I've ever done. It's like a family in there

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад +2

      Yes, absolutely! It’s worth every penny in my opinion, because 1. I actually look forward to going and 2. It totally WORKS! I’m watching my body change for once and I’m blown away by the progress I’m seeing. It’s pricer than other gyms, sure -but soon after you sign up, you see that you get what you pay for. Not to mention the coaches actually CARE about you and your workouts. Can’t beat it in my opinion! Let me know what you think after your class!!

    • @EmmmaKay
      @EmmmaKay 6 лет назад +1

      It was AMAZING. I am willing to go broke for the unlimited lol. I'm a trainer so I go to new gyms in with high expectations of other trainers and I was really pleasantly surprised! :)

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад +1

      Right?! That's how I feel too - more money than I wanted to spend on a gym, but my health has to take top spending priority, you know? That's cool to see that a professional like yourself liked it so much too!

    Hi! I start OTF in a “preview week” at a brand new location in State College, PA next week! Nervous but excited!
    My question is, did you notice a change in your diet/how much you’ve been eating since you’ve started OTF? I’ve been following a portion control meal plan for 7 weeks now and have lost 7 lbs, but I’m wondering if I will need more food! Right now I eat enough to fuel me and I don’t feel hungry anymore, but I want to be sure I’m getting enough food when I start these workouts!

    • @AndrewColemanSmith
      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад

      To be honest, I'm not really informed enough about food to give my advice (I'm still working on eating right myself). I have noticed tons of change though & I haven't changed food THAT much!

      Hey Evan! Thank you so much! For this video, I used music from RUclips's free music library (they have tons of tracks that you can use in videos without getting a copyright strike). As for my more recent vids, I've been using Epidemic Sounds (a subscription service that I pay for monthly around $12 www.epidemicsound.com) 👊🏼 And yes, OTF is my happy place, ha!

    • @paypar38
      @paypar38 6 лет назад +1

      It depends on the package you buy and sometimes it depends upon geography! In my area an unlimited monthly goes for $169. What I did was sign up for the 8 class package and I quickly found I needed to upgrade! One thing to note is that your membership in your home studio allows you to go to any other studio too!!!
