This is the best time of year to travel up there. My son and I did this trip from Ione to Jackson to Mariposa and back home to Stockton recently.
I agree. Springtime when the hills are green and the temperatures are perfect to do this drive. Summer is just too hot.
Is summer busy? I don’t mind the heat, as long as I leave the Mojave behind. It’s crowds I can’t deal with
I really like the music
When in Jamestown, you must visit the old Jamestown Railroad. The traffic in downtown Sonora drives me nuts at times, but if you don't drive it you're missing out on the historical aspects of Sonora. And no trip to Tuolumne County isn't complete without visiting Columbia State Park (one of my favorite places to visit); ask anyone in the Mother Lode region what their favorite place in the region is and a good majority of them will say Columbia.
I thought leaving Sonora you head south to. Jackson and from there down this awful scary mt road to I think oakdale to highway 41. Guess am wrong lol loved video
One of your all-time best, Kyle! Many thanks!
Thank you Jim!
I love Sutter Creek
Thanks for that. Though it seemed that I had been over every highway in Cali, north of LA, I somehow missed this stretch of road. I really enjoy these old, narrow, roller-coaster roads. They're fun to drive, and they bring back memories. Too bad, that so few of them are left---long since widened and straightened. Thanks also, for the detours on the old roads. I recall a lot of main roads being like that, when I was a kid, riding with the folks.
I remember when Hwy 108 also went through Downtown Sonora. That was back in the 70's. When was the bypass built? Also, was there some event happening in Sonora, that day? The oncoming traffic through town looked insane. Or, was that the reason that they had to build the bypass?
One final thought, on the still photo with the credits at the end: Is that Mono Lake and U.S. 395? That looks like the view from Conway Summit.
You do the route of 49 out of Nevada City through Downieville, Sierra City. Beautiful back country
I already have that video on my channel
I love our previous series on this important highway- including the recent videos with "lost footage" finishing the drive to CA Route 70 & going down Beckwourth Pass to US 395.
As this footage was filmed this year, I'm guessing you must have plans of re-doing the series with copyright free music.
