- Demo of removing/adjusting the default flow limiter/restrictor from a Grohe Rainshower Icon 150 to improve water pressure through the head. This is applicable to most other Grohe shower products.
The US requires that faucets and showers have a 2.5gpm flow limit on all units sold. This can be eased or entirely removed by using a pair of pliers to remove some pieces.

This made my showers much better. Thanks!!
Thank you for the informative video. Finally figured out how to increase the pressure of my grohe handheld shower thanks to you.
On the California Grohe models (Euphoria handheld and single shower head), the restrictor/limiter is "glued" to the interior. You probably can't remove the restrictor. Luckily, if you just remove the O-ring (with a dentist pick), the flow rate becomes noticeably faster. The handheld was restricted to 1.75 gpm and the single head (if not CA) is restricted to 2.0 gpm. Removing the O-ring definitely helped. Thanks for the video.
Thanks man, I thought I was going to break the limiter if I pulled. Thought maybe there was a different way, I appreciate the video!
Great video! I was worried about breaking the parts but followed one of the reply/suggestions-and used a sharp sewing needle. The needle worked perfectly. No need to pull the insert out. The needle pulls out the small rubber o ring!
Thanks, worked out exactly the same way on the Relexa. Night and day difference, half the shower time.
Thanks. This was great. I am ready to install a Grohe shower system.
Thank you! Worked perfectly.
Thanks man. I bought it 2 days ago Grohe Vitalio Start 100 and I was so disappointed, but 1 min with sewing needle and now water flows x3 more and stronger. No need to extract plastic core, you can realy to break these small parts, just use needle and slow hook external radius of rubber ring. It works with city water supply.
Wow!! It really did the job!! So happy! 🥳🥳
This is really useful. There are no other instructions on Grohe Vitalio Comfort 100 and this helped. BUT even taking out the complete flow restrictor I still cannot get it to work with my Bosch combo boiler. I believe the problem is that the flow is *still* not enough to trigger the hot water flow sensor in the boiler. I put the older shower head on, works fine. So this whole “ecojoy 35% less water” concept is probably ok but not on my boiler....
Very nice video. Thanks for the information. 👌
Thank you!
Thanks mate
Can u test the flow after removing the limiter?
I tried this on mine and it was not nearly as easy to pop out. It also may be deeper.
What is the flow rate with te original reducer and with the reducer without the seal ?
So why the downvotes lol
