- How Much Litter Did I Pick Up on this Hike in the Peak District!!!! I often rant about the litter I see on my hikes in the Peak District National Park. On this hike I decided to see how much litter I could pick up on a short hike from Castleton to Treakcliffe cavern and back along the old Mam Tor Road.
I was disgusted, watch to the end to see how much I collected.

I also pick up litter where i live and it's absolutely disgusting what some people just chuck on the floor. Keep up the amazing work 👏👍

I've just come back from a wonderful 2 weeks in Castleton and went on many walks and was appalled at the amount of litter around, including human shit complete with used loo roll 🤢 I can totally understand your frustration! I just cannot understand why anyone would visit such beauty then leave their shit everywhere and as for bagging your dogs poo up then throwing on the ground and in bushes... WTF 🤬
I've had a similar experience and trod in some human waste. It's just beyond my comprehension

Well done mate, i don't know whats happened to peoples attitudes and its especially noticeable when you go into the countryside. It never used to be like that when I was a kid.
Exactly, it's got so bad since the pandemic and instagrammers. I went up Mam Tor for a sunset last year and it was like a rave up there with the dope and booze 🤣🤣
@@thepeakdistrictviking1-9-24 , picked up litre plastic bottle (unopened) at base steps to mam tor, 2 coffee cups halfway up and 2 half full plastic bottles at base of trig pillar. Squashed them into my empty sandwich bag and squashed bag into a full rucksack. Saw a nappy left outside Odin mine. Huge amount of people on mam tor - very few on most sections of our circular walk. I wondered about all the cars parked near mam tor? Got the feeling that most folk think the few minutes up and back to car is an achievement. Your comment about Instagramers makes sense. I'm from sunny Donny so day-trip there few times a year for 40 years. I was shocked today but it's nothing compared to full extent of what you're seeing. Anyone who eats/drinks that shit has no respect for their own health, nevermind the landscape. I'd gladly pay an entrance fee to enter national park areas , high enough to deter these scum from visiting.
Does my bloody skull in mate. We have a local group around here called the Wombles, they walk every day collecting rubbish. The amount they get is astounding. If anything, your beauty spots are lightly hit and dont have very much compared to our (Wakefield) paths that are never more than 100 yards from a bin. What is wrong with people?
Goes without saying, well done and I hope it encourages others to do similar. Dont think you have any chance of stopping them dumping it sadly.
Good job, i also do litter picker too its amazing how many wet wipse and ecigs and other litters get left behind, the most pet peeve is dog doo in bags like if you cant take the bag home don't have dogs!
That has always puzzled me. Why bother to bag it and then dump it. You'd be better off just leaving it
Mate I despair about the crap l find even in the wildest areas. Dog poo bags not only on the path but thrown in the trees. No respect. l have even thought of giving up on walking because of the crap and shit everywhere. I walk to relax and take in nature but all it does is wined me up more when l see it. Thank God l found your channel so l know l am not the only one who hate these wankers. Subscribed 👍

We have a village warden who comes round picking the crap up. He can fill several bags in a day. People just don't give a shit.

Worked at University when a Apprentice gardener, picking up all different sorts of rubbish condoms being the worst, taught my children to take their rubbish home, they complained as very young children.
I was brought up the same, it seems to be sadly lacking these days
Bigger penalties for people found littering especially in the countryside and compulsory community sentences making them do hours of litter picking. Plus advertising and education.

Thats unbelievable the amount of crap that you picked up in such a short space, it really does make me fume, especially the poo bags grrr,..good on you for cleaning it up…I got a bit of of a rap going on in my head whilst you were counting it all out,… Coffee cup, dog poo bag,Coffee cup, dog poo bag …. perhaps you could make a record about it to try and get the message through,just a idea 👍👍

Hi Stu. Apologies for the delay in watching, playing catch up after being on the trail last week. That my friend is disgraceful and is a shocking insight in to people’s behaviour. They are a disgrace to the human race. I’d love to catch them but they won’t do it in front of people, they’ll d9 it on the sly.

Some people are just arseholes. I always carried a bag with me to clear up my litter when I was out walking.
I think it's a minority that do it but it's got worse since the pandemic and instagram
