Nice video, thanks. I just ordered some wind chime tubing to try working with. I am going to make an electronic solenoid operated player that can playback midi files. I automated a player piano with this method using solenoids, but no control of the volume made in boring sounding. I've figured out that I can control the strike hardness of the solenoids and I think that is key in making a really nice sounding instrument by controlling music sound dynamics.
this is using pipes, not solid rod? I did pick up on the 22.6% of length tho for locating zero amplitude nodes. there seems to be some difference in material and if it's pipe or rod. I'll experiment... thank you!
These are all tubes, but solid rods can be used with similar results. I’ve seen thick sheet metal used as well - makes an interesting note if done well.
@@CiticarTom oh it's all so interesting I'm getting sidetracked now haha if I want to go small and tiny sound or long. I better try something simple with maybe just 6 or 8 notes, less than 12" (cheaper haha)
It would be suggested that all the wind chime geeks use a streaming service in lieu of driving their neighbors insane. Chiming rights should end at property lines.
What a wonderful world - this DIY music geekery is delicious
very useful thank you

So great !
Very useful. Thankyou :)
it is hard thing, to fully understand this you should also hear all these pipes on different pitches

I fully agree. . . Same for car stereos. My neighborhood is rife with them.
