Kim sounds amazing and this is a homage to Tasmin. It’s an honor to have someone cover your song. It doesn’t detract from the original and she’s certainly not trying to one up Tasmin. Tasmin is a truly gifted vocalist and should have been far more popular then she was. She can always record new music to a new audience. This song was such a huge part of my life back then.
Everyone here stating that Tasmin's version is better. True but I am glad Kim covered it. Because Tasmin should have been more famous.I am glad she brought it back to life.
I was a teenage girl , 13 years in 1981, my room was full with posters from Kim. I was learning to draw her face. I still find her a beautiful soul with a very Nice voice no one else has ! Maybe she is still wearing my earring I sent her.🤭 A 'golden' broche..and it was one. I did receive a thank you note from her ! 💜. A yellow handwritten note. I was the happiest teenage girl in the world 🌏....back to the 80's 🥰 Take care Kim ! Much Love 😘 🇳🇱👏💜🎩 also a Prince fan..
Kim's still looking as gorgeous as ever, and her voice goes from strength to strength. Not an easy song to take on, but she's done it perfectly, along with the musicians backing her. More of this please Kim.
Wow! Kim is such a fabulous artist and performer. Tasmin Archer is still the queen and owner of this, but hats off to Kim for bringing this amazing song back to life👌
I love Tasmin Archer and I have followed her career a long time. Sleeping Satellite was the debut single by the British singer songwriter Tasmin Archer, it was released in 1992. The song was a number one in the United Kingdom Although it was first released in 1992, Archer and her co-writers wrote the song in the late 1980s. It was only when Archer got a record deal that the song saw the light of day. And when it hit the air waves you couldn't get enough of it. I like Kim Wilde's cover of sleeping Satellite but it doesn't beat the original version. I think Kim Wilde is a another good singer and my favorite will always be her song Kids Of America.
Surprising, bewildering, stunning & breathtaking. Absolutely love the production on this, and I think her voice is really quite beautiful here. I was not a fan of Kim back in the day, but wow, this is something special. Away and take your negativity back to your wee caves. People can be so narrow-minded & blinkered sometimes. She loves this track, quite clearly, thus the inspiration for recording it as a cover. The fact that the result is as mesmerising as this simply blew me away! BTW, I WAS a fan of the Tasmin Archer original. It was beautiful. And, with absolute honesty, so is this.
This song should be an ANTHEM across the world. So magnificent. I loved Tasmin's version. But Kim is such a Godess! She can sing anything she wants in my mind. Thank you for production.
I've always loved Kim Wilde(still do). And I think she did an excellent job of covering Tasmin Archer's "Sleeping Satellite. Awesome job, Kim. :o) Thank you Tasmin, for writing the song. One of my very favorites. ;-)
BOOM! My former pin up in the Royal Air Force (6 ft x 4 ft poster more like) singing a song that is seriously close to my heart!!! Kim is still in my attic believe it or not yet she last graced my Officers Accommodation at RAF Waddington during 1999. I mean how could I so she's not going anywhere...
Wow, she's back and sounding and looking better than ever. True talent can never be crushed! Am very happy, thank you so much for sharing this video. :-)
Tasmin's original is for sure unbeatable, the song which always stays in our minds and will stay forever, but ...... nothing bad that someone covers it, right? Kim did it her way and now -- who else did? Then we can compare, can we?
So long as the cover brings something new to the table, it's justified. This version tries to do that. But the similarities in style are maybe a bit too much to really stand out.
This version is far below the original. Spoiled a great song. Archer’s voice and emotion were in her song. This is just an older singer doing a cover. Archer definitely the best
@@SuperParatech Three whole years older, and far more successful. People don't cover songs because they're trying to outdo the originals; they cover songs because they LIKE songs. And most of the time, the original artists are over the moon to hear new versions of their work.
Tamsin Archer had a younger voice that is richer and fuller without limits of octaves or strain. The original was recorded 27 years ago by a then 28 YO youthful Archer. I am not slamming Wilde as a singer. I still have her 45’s from 1980. However, a 50 YO Wilde just didn’t sound as well or impressive or add anything better or unique to this song. Unless the recording moves the song and art forward, it a pointless exercise save for the profits of those recording it. I stand by my view. The original is better and should be left unblemished

I love the original it's a masterpiece. When I just saw Kim covered it I thought...oh no...why? But you know what, this is a cracking cover she sings it well in her style. I'm sure Kim would agree it can't compete with Tasmin's. But you can enjoy both 🤷🏻♂️
That's one Hell of a Cool Cover Kim ( and still with your unique brilliant voice too) .... this just came flying by like an SR71 on a covert spy mission ..... Wow does this sound nice too .... Strangely enough for an other wise loud rock guitarist, I always loved this song. In the early 90's I'd use to turn the stereo in the car up to 11 ( yep, all my volume controls go to that lol 😀) .... This is such a great classic .... all those years ago, .....the beautiful memories this song brings back, make years disappear like Ice on a hot summers day ...
before I went ahead and watched Kim's version, I was little skeptical but I really like this version too despite Tasmin's fabulous interpretation. delicious video too
didnt know she had done a cover of this i personally think its supurb and kims voice has matured superbly. i love the song full stop whether its tazmins original or kims they are both stunning powerfull tracks in their own way

Hearing this for the first time after finding tasmin’s video. I’m diggin it a lot, with the exception that Kim doesn’t growl where Tasmin growls. It’s a substantial cover effort.

Perhaps not as great as the original, as others have noted. Still, Kim manages to stay true to the original as well as to herself. She does this song justice. Well played, Kim, well played.
Tasmin Archer is one of the most underrated singers. I bought this album at the time and it is still a favourite.
And the album is...?
